What does holding AERO let you do?
AERO is Aerodrome Finance’s token on Base, a blockchain-based exchange that lets users swap tokens through liquidity pools rather than a central broker. Holding AERO in a wallet does not, by itself, make you a liquidity provider or give you voting power.
Aerodrome uses AERO to incentivize liquidity in its pools. You may also be able to lock AERO to receive veAERO, which gives governance rights such as voting on how incentives are directed. Locking may also make you eligible for protocol-related rewards, subject to Aerodrome’s rules. Those benefits come with trade-offs: locked tokens may not be freely transferable, and the terms can change. Check the current locking conditions before committing tokens.
AERO’s role is tied to Aerodrome’s activity and decisions. It is not a share in a company, a claim on its assets, or a guarantee of income. Its market price can fall even if the exchange remains in use.
Which network and wallets support AERO?
AERO is issued on Base. If you withdraw it from an exchange or receive it from another person, make sure the destination wallet supports Base and that you select the Base network. Sending it to an address on the wrong network can make recovery difficult or impossible.
You can hold AERO in a self-custody wallet that supports Base, such as a compatible browser or mobile wallet. Hardware wallets may also be used through compatible wallet software. Confirm the network and token contract in the wallet before accepting a deposit; a token with the same ticker on another network may not be AERO on Base.
With self-custody, you control the keys and are responsible for backing up the recovery phrase and protecting it from theft. A custodial exchange may hold the keys for you, but withdrawals and access then depend on that service. Keeping AERO in a wallet does not require using Aerodrome, though governance or pool features may require interacting with its applications.
How much AERO exists, and can supply change?
As of 2026-11-08, reported circulating supply was about 307.8 million AERO, while total supply was about 2.01 billion. No maximum supply is listed, so do not treat the total supply figure as a cap. Supply figures can also differ between trackers because of how they classify tokens that are locked or otherwise unavailable to trade.
Aerodrome uses token emissions to encourage liquidity provision, and its vote-lock system lets participants direct incentives among pools. That means supply and the amount of AERO available to trade can change over time. More tokens entering circulation can dilute a holder’s share of the supply, although the effect on price depends on demand and many other factors.
The price, market capitalization and trading volume change constantly. They should be checked with a date attached rather than treated as fixed facts. Neither a past price nor a supply figure tells you what AERO will be worth later.
How can you get or store AERO?
People generally obtain AERO through a platform that lists it or by swapping for it on Aerodrome or another compatible Base service. Availability, supported payment methods and withdrawal rules vary by platform. Before moving tokens, check that the asset is AERO on Base and that the receiving wallet can use that network.
For a self-custody transfer, copy the receiving address from your own wallet, confirm the network, and consider sending a small test amount before a larger transfer. A wrong address or network may lead to permanent loss. If you use an exchange account, check its withdrawal status and any limits before relying on it for access to your tokens.
This is a description of common ways to access a token, not a recommendation to acquire AERO. If you already hold it, you can keep it with a supported custodian or move it to a Base-compatible wallet. In either case, protect account credentials or recovery phrases and be wary of unsolicited messages asking you to connect a wallet.
What does it cost to move or swap AERO?
Moving AERO on Base requires a network transaction, and the network fee is paid in ETH on Base, not in AERO. The fee varies with network conditions; it is not a fixed charge set by the token itself. AERO swaps can also involve a pool trading fee, which may vary by pool. Aerodrome does not have one universal swap cost that applies to every trade.
If your AERO is on another network, moving it to Base may require a bridge. Bridges can charge their own fees in addition to transaction costs on the networks involved. The time to complete a transfer can also vary. Using a bridge adds risks beyond a normal transfer, including smart-contract vulnerabilities and sending assets through an unsupported route.
Before confirming, review the transaction’s network, amount, destination, and quoted costs in your wallet or service. A wallet’s displayed estimate can change before the transaction is processed. Avoid approving a transaction you do not understand.
What could go wrong when you hold AERO?
AERO carries several risks beyond ordinary price volatility. Its value can change sharply, and the market may not have enough liquidity for you to trade a large amount at the price you expect. Token emissions can also increase circulating supply and dilute existing holders. Governance outcomes and changes to pool incentives may affect how useful or attractive the token is.
Aerodrome relies on smart contracts. A bug, exploit, faulty update or compromised account could cause losses, and holding AERO does not guarantee protection against those events. Locking tokens adds a separate risk: you may have less flexibility to transfer or sell them while they are committed under the protocol’s rules. Bridges and third-party wallets introduce their own technical and custody risks.
Treat advertised rewards as variable, not guaranteed income. Check current contract and locking terms before interacting, and never share your recovery phrase or sign an unfamiliar approval. Only use funds you can afford to lose.
What is known about Aerodrome’s history?
Aerodrome Finance is designed as an automated market maker and liquidity hub for Base. Its stated design combines liquidity incentives, vote-lock governance and a user-facing exchange, and it inherits features from Velodrome V2. The token’s role follows that model: it is used for liquidity incentives and can be locked for governance participation.
A launch date is not established here, so it is better not to infer one. AERO is identified as issued on Base; do not assume that a token with the same ticker on a different chain is the same asset. The project’s purpose and token mechanics may evolve through governance or protocol changes, so check current terms before relying on an older description.
For a holder, the practical distinction is between simply keeping AERO in a wallet and using it in the protocol. The first mainly exposes you to token-price and custody risks. The second can add contract, locking and governance-related risks.
By the numbers
Aerodrome Finance in numbers
Aerodrome Finance (AERO) is ranked #174 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $187M and a price of $0.6077 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $1.22B, so roughly 15% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 5.6% over 7 days, down 28.6% over 30 days, down 37.7% over the past year. It trades about 74% below its all-time high of $2.32, set on Dec 7, 2024.
About 307.81M AERO are in circulation, from a total supply of 2.01B. No hard maximum supply is listed.
24-hour trading volume was about $24.4M, or 13% of its market cap: high turnover.
AERO has token contracts on Base. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

AERO FAQs
What network is AERO on?
AERO is issued on Base. Use a wallet or platform that supports the Base network, and check that you are handling the Base version rather than a token with the same ticker elsewhere.
Does holding AERO give you voting rights?
Holding AERO alone does not automatically give you governance voting power. Aerodrome’s vote-lock model lets users lock AERO for veAERO and governance rights, subject to the protocol’s current terms.
Do you need ETH to send AERO?
The network fee for an AERO transaction on Base is paid in ETH on Base, and the amount varies with network conditions. A swap may also have a pool fee, while a bridge can add separate costs.
What is AERO’s supply?
As of 2026-11-08, circulating supply was about 307.8 million AERO and total supply about 2.01 billion. No maximum supply is listed, and emissions used for liquidity incentives can affect supply over time.
Can you lose money holding AERO?
Yes. AERO’s price can fluctuate, liquidity may be limited, and emissions can dilute holders. Smart-contract, custody, bridge and token-locking risks also apply.
