What does holding RAIL actually give you?
RAIL is Railgun’s utility and governance token; Railgun itself is a smart-contract privacy system for DeFi. The protocol uses zk-SNARKs to let you build a private balance and use it for activities such as transfers, trading and lending without first withdrawing those funds from its private system. RAIL is not the same thing as that privacy feature: holding RAIL does not by itself make your wallet activity private.
The stated token role is to give stakers access to treasury rewards and let them vote for or against protocol updates. Staking therefore involves both a potential reward and a governance role, not just passive custody. Before staking, check the current contract, terms, reward details and any lock or withdrawal conditions. Those specifics are not established here, so do not assume a particular reward rate or that staked tokens can be withdrawn immediately.
Which chains and wallets can hold or use RAIL?
RAIL is listed as issued on Ethereum, while Railgun’s privacy system is described as operating on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain (BSC), Polygon and Arbitrum. These are different facts: the token’s supported network and the networks where the protocol operates are not automatically interchangeable. Confirm the network and token contract before sending RAIL; sending assets to an incompatible network or address can make them difficult or impossible to recover.
For storage, use a wallet that supports the network and token standard you need. A self-custody wallet puts the recovery phrase and signing decisions in your hands, so keep the phrase offline and never share it. A custodial exchange may hold the keys for you, but withdrawals and supported networks depend on that service. Railgun’s private-balance features may have their own wallet setup and interaction requirements; holding RAIL in an ordinary wallet does not activate them. Check compatibility before connecting a wallet or approving a transaction.
How much RAIL exists, and what can change its value?
As of 2026-11-08, the reported RAIL supply is 60 million circulating and 60 million total, with a maximum supply of 100 million. That means the stated maximum is higher than the current total; the timing and mechanism for any additional issuance are not specified here. Supply figures can change, so verify the latest token details before relying on them.
The same date’s reported price was about $2.20, with market capitalisation and fully diluted valuation both about $131.7 million. Market cap is generally calculated using circulating supply, while fully diluted valuation applies a price to the maximum supply. These are snapshots, not guarantees of what you could sell for. The token’s reported all-time high was $5.66 on 2025-11-07 and its all-time low was about $0.23 on 2022-11-09. Thin trading volume can make quoted prices less representative of the price available for a large trade.
How do people get and store RAIL?
You can generally obtain RAIL through a crypto service or exchange that lists it, or by swapping on a supported decentralized exchange. Availability, trading pairs, identity checks and withdrawal options vary by provider and location. Check that the asset is the genuine RAIL token and that the withdrawal network matches the network your wallet supports. A token with the same name or ticker on another chain may not be the same asset.
For self-custody, store RAIL in a wallet compatible with its network and protect the recovery phrase offline. Never share that phrase or enter it into a site claiming to verify or unlock your tokens. If you use an exchange account, the provider controls the keys and may pause withdrawals. If you stake RAIL, check the staking contract and the rules for rewards, voting and unstaking before approving anything. These are general ways people access and store tokens, not a recommendation to acquire RAIL.
What can it cost to move or use RAIL?
Moving RAIL on Ethereum normally requires a network fee paid in ETH. Transactions on BNB Smart Chain, Polygon or Arbitrum use that network’s fee token, if the asset and destination are supported there. Fees change with network activity and transaction complexity; they are separate from any exchange withdrawal charge or swap fee. Railgun interactions may require additional smart-contract transactions, so check the transaction preview and make sure your wallet has enough of the relevant network token for gas.
A bridge can add a separate cost and another failure point. Railgun describes its privacy system as operating without relying on bridges or a layer-2 node system, but that does not mean every way of moving RAIL between networks is bridge-free. Do not assume a token on one chain can be transferred directly to another. Confirm the exact network, destination and any bridge or service terms before proceeding; a wrong-network transfer may not be recoverable.
What risks should you weigh before holding or staking?
RAIL’s value can move sharply, and the reported price history shows meaningful volatility: as of 2026-11-08, the price was about $2.20, compared with a reported high of $5.66 in November 2025. Low or uneven trading activity can also make execution harder than a headline price suggests. Governance and staking add protocol and contract risks: a software bug, malicious proposal, compromised wallet or mistaken approval could put funds at risk. Review the current contract details and security information before interacting.
Privacy tools also have limits. Zero-knowledge proofs can conceal selected transaction details, but they do not eliminate every way activity might be linked, and the public blockchain still records activity around contracts and transactions. Privacy features can attract legal or compliance scrutiny, so check the rules where you live and the policies of any service you use. Railgun’s launch date and a detailed development history are not established here; its stated purpose is private on-chain transfers and DeFi interactions, with RAIL used for staking-related rewards and protocol voting.
By the numbers
Railgun in numbers
Railgun (RAIL) is ranked #219 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $132M and a price of $2.20 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($132M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 1.9% over 7 days, down 12.2% over 30 days, down 54.9% over the past year. It trades about 61% below its all-time high of $5.66, set on Nov 7, 2025.
About 60M RAIL are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 100M (60% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $26.5K, or 0.0% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
RAIL has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

RAIL FAQs
What is RAIL used for?
RAIL is described as a utility and governance token. Stakers can access treasury rewards and vote for or against protocol updates; exact reward rates and staking conditions should be checked before committing tokens.
Which networks support Railgun and RAIL?
Railgun’s privacy system is described as operating on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Arbitrum. RAIL is listed as issued on Ethereum, so confirm the specific token contract and network before transferring it.
Does owning RAIL make my transactions private?
No. RAIL is the token, while privacy comes from using Railgun’s protocol features. Simply holding RAIL in a regular wallet does not make that wallet’s transactions private.
What fees do you pay to move RAIL?
You generally need the relevant network’s fee token, such as ETH for Ethereum transactions, and the amount varies with network activity and transaction complexity. Exchange charges, swaps and any bridge can add separate costs.
What is RAIL’s total supply?
As of 2026-11-08, reported circulating and total supply were both 60 million RAIL, against a maximum supply of 100 million. Supply and market figures can change, so treat them as dated snapshots.
What is the market cap of Railgun?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Railgun had a market cap of about $132M, ranking #219 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of RAIL?
Railgun's all-time high is $5.66, reached on Nov 7, 2025. Its all-time low is $0.2283 (Nov 9, 2022). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of RAIL?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 60M RAIL were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 100M.
Which blockchains is RAIL on?
It has token contracts on Ethereum.
