What does holding LINEA actually give you?

Holding LINEA gives you exposure to a token issued on Linea and Ethereum, but it does not automatically give you ownership of the network or a share of its revenue. Linea is an Ethereum Layer 2 built around zero-knowledge technology. Its project description focuses on strengthening Ethereum and on chain-level economics, including ETH burn mechanics and native yield.

Those network features are not the same as a guaranteed benefit for each LINEA holder. The project description does not establish that holding the token entitles you to fees, ETH, yield, or governance power. Check the current token documentation before relying on any particular right or reward. LINEA is also not the same thing as ETH: ETH remains important for paying transaction fees on Linea, while LINEA is the token tied to the Linea ecosystem.

If you hold it, the practical questions are whether you want exposure to the project and whether you can safely manage the correct token on the correct chain. Token prices can change sharply, and owning LINEA does not ensure that Linea apps or network activity will create value for the token.

Which networks and wallets can hold LINEA?

LINEA is native to the Linea network and is also issued on Ethereum. That means a wallet can show a LINEA balance on one network without showing the same balance on the other. The tokens are not interchangeable across networks until you transfer or bridge them using a supported route.

You can store LINEA in a self-custody wallet that supports the relevant network and token standard. EVM-compatible wallets such as MetaMask can connect to Linea, but you still need to select the right network and add or identify the correct token. For an exchange account, check which LINEA network the service supports for deposits and withdrawals; support for one chain does not guarantee support for the other.

Before sending, confirm the network, recipient address and token contract against trusted project information. A transfer to an incompatible chain or an incorrect address can be difficult or impossible to reverse. For larger holdings, consider a hardware wallet or another secure signing setup, and keep your recovery phrase offline. Never share that phrase with a website, support agent or person claiming to help.

How much LINEA exists, and what can change its value?

As of 2026-11-08, the reported circulating supply is about 24.5 billion LINEA, against total supply of about 71.6 billion and a maximum of about 72.0 billion. A circulating supply figure is only a snapshot: tokens entering circulation can affect the balance between available supply and demand. The figures do not, by themselves, tell you when remaining tokens may be released, so check Linea’s current token documentation for distribution and release details.

Market figures also move. On 2026-11-08, LINEA’s reported price was about $0.00216, with a market capitalization of about $52.9 million and fully diluted valuation of about $154.4 million. These are dated estimates, not a valuation or forecast. The gap between market capitalization and fully diluted valuation reflects the difference between circulating and total supply.

Usage, ecosystem participation, token distribution, broader crypto-market conditions and liquidity can all affect the price. None guarantees a particular outcome. Treat supply and valuation figures as context for your own risk assessment, not as a signal to buy or sell.

How do you get and store LINEA safely?

People generally obtain LINEA through a crypto exchange that supports the token, or by receiving it from another wallet. Availability varies by service and location. Before using an exchange, check that it supports withdrawals on the network you intend to use; a LINEA deposit address on Ethereum may not be suitable for a transfer on Linea, and vice versa.

For self-custody, set up a wallet that supports the chosen network, then verify the token and chain before receiving or sending funds. If you move LINEA between Ethereum and Linea, use a bridge or transfer route that explicitly supports the direction and token. Avoid relying on a search result, unsolicited message or social post for a token address or bridge recommendation. Scammers often imitate token listings and bridge interfaces.

Keep recovery details offline and secure, and test unfamiliar wallet steps with a small amount if you decide to proceed. A wallet protects access only if you protect its keys; it cannot reverse a transaction signed to the wrong address or recover funds lost to a malicious approval.

What does it cost to move LINEA between chains?

Sending LINEA costs network fees, and the fee depends on the chain, congestion and the transaction. Linea transactions generally use ETH for gas, so holding LINEA alone may not be enough to send it from a Linea wallet. On Ethereum, you also need ETH to pay the network fee. Check the wallet’s fee estimate before confirming; fees can change before a transaction is included.

Moving tokens between Linea and Ethereum can involve a bridge or other supported transfer route. In addition to transaction fees on the networks involved, the route may have its own costs, processing time or withdrawal conditions. Do not assume that a transfer is instant or free, and confirm whether the service supports LINEA in both directions before sending.

Bridges add risks beyond ordinary transfers. A bridge can be delayed, paused, compromised or unavailable, and using the wrong network can leave funds inaccessible. Review the route’s terms and current status before committing funds. For a small transfer, compare the total estimated costs with the amount being moved; a low token value does not remove the need for gas.

What are the main risks of holding LINEA?

LINEA carries market, technical and operational risks. Its price can fall as well as rise, and market capitalization or trading volume can change quickly. As of 2026-11-08, the reported price was about $0.00216, compared with a recorded high of $0.046669 on 2025-09-10 and a recorded low of $0.00206952 on 2026-08-19. The reported one-year change was about -84%. Past prices do not predict what happens next.

You also face smart-contract, bridge, wallet and exchange risks. A compromised service, faulty contract, malicious approval, lost recovery phrase or mistaken network selection can cause losses. Token distribution and future supply entering circulation may affect market conditions; check current project documentation rather than assuming the circulating figure will stay fixed.

Linea’s token has a recorded price history by September 2025, but a launch date is not established here. Before holding or transferring LINEA, make sure you understand which chain contains your tokens, what fees you need to pay, and what rights the token actually provides. Do not commit money you cannot afford to lose.

LINEA FAQs

Is LINEA an Ethereum token or a Linea token?

No. LINEA is issued on both Linea and Ethereum, but balances on the two networks are separate. Check the network selected by your wallet or exchange before sending.

Do you need ETH to send LINEA?

Linea transactions generally use ETH for gas, so a LINEA balance may not be enough to cover a transfer. You also need ETH to pay gas for transactions on Ethereum.

Does holding LINEA earn yield or give voting rights?

The project description emphasizes Linea’s network economics, but it does not establish that holding LINEA guarantees governance rights, yield, fees or a share of revenue. Check current token documentation for any specific rights or reward terms.

What is LINEA’s maximum supply?

As of 2026-11-08, the reported circulating supply was about 24.5 billion LINEA, with a maximum supply of about 72.0 billion. Supply figures can change, so check current token information before relying on them.
