What can holding LUNC let you do?
LUNC is the native token of the Terra Classic network. Holding it can let you pay transaction fees, stake with a validator and take part in community governance, such as voting on network proposals. Staking delegates your tokens to a validator; it does not give you control of that validator, and rewards or unstaking terms can change with network rules. Check the current terms in your wallet before delegating.
LUNC is also traded as a crypto asset, but market activity does not guarantee that you can sell or transfer it at a particular price. Terra Classic’s earlier design tied LUNA’s role to the stability of Terra’s algorithmic stablecoin, UST. That historical purpose should not be mistaken for a current guarantee: LUNC does not guarantee a stable value or a claim on stablecoins.
Which chain and wallet do you need for LUNC?
LUNC operates on the Terra Classic blockchain, a proof-of-stake network maintained by its community. For on-chain uses such as staking, governance or sending tokens, your wallet must support Terra Classic specifically. You can also hold LUNC through a crypto exchange, but an exchange balance is a claim recorded by that service rather than tokens you control directly with your own private keys.
Some services may display wrapped or bridged versions of LUNC on other networks. Those are not automatically interchangeable with native LUNC: sending a token on the wrong network can make it difficult or impossible to recover. Before depositing or withdrawing, match the network selected by the service with the network supported by your receiving wallet, and check whether the asset is native or wrapped. Keep your recovery phrase private; anyone who obtains it may be able to control your wallet.
How large is LUNC’s supply, and what changes it?
LUNC has a large circulating supply: about 5.52 trillion tokens, against a reported total supply of about 6.44 trillion as of 2026-11-08. No maximum supply is specified. These figures can change as tokens are issued, burned or otherwise affected by network activity and governance decisions, so check the current supply before relying on a particular number.
The project’s original token economics linked LUNA to Terra’s algorithmic stablecoins, including UST. During the 2022 collapse, the mechanism intended to absorb price deviations contributed to a sharp expansion in token supply as UST lost its peg. Current LUNC supply and value do not follow from a fixed cap. If you are assessing a wallet balance, remember that a very large token count alone says little about its market value or how easily you could trade it.
How do people get and store LUNC?
You can generally obtain LUNC through a crypto exchange that supports it or receive it from another holder. Availability, identity checks, deposit rules and withdrawal options depend on the service and where you live. This is not a recommendation to buy: check the asset name and network carefully, since LUNC can be confused with LUNA, the token associated with the newer Terra network.
For self-custody, use a wallet that explicitly supports Terra Classic. Write down its recovery phrase offline and store it somewhere private and secure; do not enter it into a website or send it to someone claiming to offer support. If you leave LUNC with an exchange, review its custody and withdrawal terms and understand that access depends on that provider. Test with a small transfer when appropriate, but remember that even a small transaction can incur a network fee.
What does it cost to move LUNC?
Sending native LUNC requires a Terra Classic network fee, usually paid in LUNC. The amount is not a single fixed charge: it can depend on the transaction and network conditions, and your wallet should show an estimate before you confirm. Exchange withdrawal charges are separate from blockchain fees and are set by the exchange. Check the final amount and selected network before approving a transfer.
Moving a wrapped version between networks may also involve a bridge, with its own fees and risks. A bridge can charge transaction costs on one or both networks, and a technical failure or exploit can put bridged assets at risk. Do not assume a transfer is free because the wallet shows no separate bridge charge, and do not send native LUNC to a deposit address on another network unless the receiving service explicitly supports that route.
What could go wrong if you hold LUNC?
LUNC is a high-risk asset. Its price and market liquidity can change sharply, and the 2022 collapse of Terra’s algorithmic stablecoin system damaged confidence in the project and its tokens. LUNC’s historical role in UST’s stabilization mechanism is not protection against losses today. A token’s use for fees, staking or voting does not ensure demand or a stable price.
There is also operational risk: a wrong-network transfer, compromised recovery phrase or unreliable exchange can lead to lost access. Staking adds validator and protocol risks, and delegated tokens may not be immediately available when you want to move them. Governance decisions can change network parameters. Do not treat past prices as a forecast, and only commit funds you can afford to lose. Check whether any service you use supports Terra Classic withdrawals and staking before relying on it.
Why is LUNC called Terra Luna Classic?
Terra began as a blockchain payment network whose token supported staking, validator incentives and the design of algorithmic stablecoins. In May 2022, UST lost its dollar peg and the system’s attempted stabilization contributed to an extreme expansion in the original LUNA supply and a collapse in value. The network later split: the older chain became Terra Classic, and its token is known as LUNC; the newer Terra chain uses LUNA.
That distinction matters when you check an exchange listing, wallet or transfer address. LUNC is not simply another spelling for the newer chain’s LUNA, and the two tokens are not interchangeable. Historical price records can also be confusing because the original LUNA and today’s LUNC have different identities after the split. The reported all-time high for the old token was about $119.18 on 2022-04-05, before the collapse; it is a historical record, not a measure of what LUNC should be worth now.
By the numbers

Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) is ranked #151 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $220M and a price of $0.00003992 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $257M, so roughly 86% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 6.2% over 7 days, down 20.8% over 30 days, up 4.7% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $119.18, set on Apr 5, 2022.
About 5.52T LUNC are in circulation, from a total supply of 6.44T. No hard maximum supply is listed.
24-hour trading volume was about $5.59M, or 2.5% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

LUNC FAQs
Is LUNC the same as LUNA?
LUNC is the native token of the Terra Classic blockchain. LUNA is the token associated with the newer Terra network, so check the network and token name before sending or depositing either one.
What is LUNC used for?
LUNC can be used to pay Terra Classic network fees, stake with validators and participate in governance. These uses do not guarantee a stable price or a particular return from staking.
How many LUNC tokens are there?
The reported circulating supply was about 5.52 trillion LUNC as of 2026-11-08, with no maximum supply specified. Supply can change, so check current figures when they matter to a decision.
Which wallet can store LUNC?
Use a wallet that explicitly supports the Terra Classic network, or hold it with a service that supports LUNC. Confirm the network before transferring, and keep your wallet recovery phrase private and offline.
Does it cost money to transfer LUNC?
Native LUNC transfers require a network fee, generally paid in LUNC; the amount can vary by transaction and network conditions. Exchange withdrawal fees and bridge charges, if applicable, are separate.
What is the market cap of Terra Luna Classic?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Terra Luna Classic had a market cap of about $220M, ranking #151 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
