What does holding LDO let you do?

LDO is Lido DAO’s governance token. Holding it can let you vote on eligible DAO proposals, subject to the protocol’s voting rules. That gives you a way to take part in decisions about Lido; it does not give you a claim on the DAO’s assets or a guaranteed say in every decision.

LDO is not the token you receive for staking ETH through Lido, and simply holding LDO does not earn ETH staking rewards. Lido’s staking service is a separate product: users stake ETH and receive a liquid staking token in return. If your goal is to stake ETH, owning LDO alone does not do that. Check the proposal and voting process before treating LDO as an active governance right, since participation and voting power can vary.

Which chains and wallets support LDO?

LDO is issued on Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon and Arbitrum. It is not the native coin of any of those networks; it is a token deployed on them. The network matters when you receive or send LDO: your wallet and the destination platform must support the same network and token version.

You can generally store tokens in a self-custody wallet that supports the relevant network, or leave them with a crypto exchange that lists LDO. For self-custody, keep your recovery phrase private and confirm the selected network before sending. A token with the same ticker on another chain may be a bridged representation rather than the original Ethereum token. Check the token contract through a trusted project channel or wallet interface before adding it, and do not rely on the ticker alone.

How much LDO exists, and what can move its value?

LDO has a maximum and total supply of 1 billion tokens. About 829.6 million were circulating as of November 8, 2026, so the circulating amount was below the stated cap. The remaining difference is not circulating, but the supply figures alone do not show when or how any tokens may enter circulation. Check current token disclosures before drawing conclusions about future distribution.

LDO’s market price can move with trading demand, broader crypto-market conditions, and expectations about Lido and its governance. As of November 8, 2026, it traded at about $0.32, with a market capitalization of about $269 million. These are dated, changeable figures—not a valuation guarantee or a forecast. LDO does not have a fixed redemption value, and its governance role does not ensure that demand for the token will rise.

How can you get and store LDO?

People generally obtain LDO through a crypto exchange or a decentralized exchange that supports the token and the network they intend to use. Availability, identity checks, payment methods and withdrawal options differ by provider and location. Before transferring, check that the service supports withdrawals on the network your wallet uses; a ticker match alone is not enough.

For storage, a self-custody wallet gives you control of the keys but also makes you responsible for protecting them and confirming every transaction. Keeping LDO with a custodian can reduce key-management work, but leaves you dependent on that provider’s account access and withdrawal policies. Neither method removes market risk. If you plan to vote, confirm that your wallet and the DAO’s governance interface support the relevant voting process and that your tokens are held in a form eligible to vote.

What does it cost to move LDO?

Sending LDO costs the fee of the network you use, usually paid in that network’s native asset—not in LDO. Ethereum transactions can cost more when the network is busy, while fees on other supported chains vary with congestion and network conditions. Check the wallet’s displayed estimate before confirming; no single fee applies to every transfer.

Moving LDO between chains may require a bridge or exchange withdrawal. A bridge can add its own charges and introduces risks beyond an ordinary token transfer, including technical failure, delays or loss of funds. Make sure the receiving wallet supports the destination network and token representation. Sending to the wrong chain or an unsupported address can make recovery difficult or impossible. If you only need to move LDO within one network, avoid a cross-chain transfer unless you have a clear reason to use one.

What could go wrong when you hold LDO?

LDO carries market risk: its price can fall sharply, and its governance function does not guarantee token value or income. Voting influence may also depend on how much LDO participates, so holding a small amount does not necessarily give you meaningful influence over outcomes. Review proposals rather than assuming that token ownership means you agree with DAO decisions.

There are also custody and transaction risks. A compromised wallet, mistaken network selection, malicious token or unsafe bridge can result in losses. LDO’s risks are distinct from the risks of using Lido’s ETH staking service. Staking ETH involves protocol, smart-contract and validator-related risks; owning LDO does not make you a staker or shield you from those risks. Check the token contract and network before interacting, and never share your recovery phrase or sign a transaction you do not understand.

What does LDO’s price history tell you?

Lido DAO’s governance token was created to support voting on DAO matters. The supplied project facts do not give a launch date, so there is no launch date to report here. LDO’s history also includes substantial price swings: its recorded all-time high was $7.30 on August 20, 2021, and its recorded all-time low was about $0.24 on June 25, 2026.

As of November 8, 2026, LDO was about $0.32. That snapshot sits far below the historical high, but past prices do not indicate what will happen next. When reviewing the token’s history, separate price performance from what the token actually provides: LDO’s stated role is governance, not a promise of staking yield, redemption or price recovery. Dates and market figures can vary across data providers and should be treated as historical reference points.

By the numbers

Lido DAO in numbers

Lido DAO (LDO) is ranked #139 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $269M and a price of $0.3247 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $325M, so roughly 83% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 2.8% over 7 days, down 22.2% over 30 days, down 61.4% over the past year. It trades about 96% below its all-time high of $7.30, set on Aug 20, 2021.

About 829.57M LDO are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1B (83% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $13.0M, or 4.8% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

LDO has token contracts on 4 chains we track, including Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Arbitrum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

LDO FAQs

What is LDO used for?

LDO is used for governance voting on eligible Lido DAO proposals. Voting rights and influence depend on the DAO’s rules and how much voting power participates.

Does holding LDO earn staking rewards?

No. Holding LDO does not itself stake ETH or earn ETH staking rewards. Lido’s ETH staking service is separate, and it issues a liquid staking token to users who stake ETH.

Which networks is LDO on?

LDO is issued on Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon and Arbitrum. Use a wallet that supports the network and token version you are receiving, and confirm the network before sending.

What is LDO’s maximum supply?

LDO has a maximum supply of 1 billion, with about 829.6 million circulating as of November 8, 2026. Supply and market figures can change, so treat those amounts as dated.

What fees do LDO transfers have?

Transfers require the fee for the network used, typically paid in that network’s native asset. Cross-chain transfers may add bridge costs and risks, and fees vary with network conditions.

What is the market cap of Lido DAO?

As of Nov 8, 2026, Lido DAO had a market cap of about $269M, ranking #139 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
