## What does holding RLUSD get you?

RLUSD is designed to give you a blockchain-based dollar balance for payments and settlement, rather than exposure to a token intended to rise in price. Ripple says each RLUSD is backed by at least an equivalent amount of U.S. dollars and other cash equivalents. Holding it may be useful if you need to keep or transfer a dollar-denominated balance on a supported network, including for cross-border payments.

A dollar peg is a target, not a promise that every token can always be sold for exactly one dollar on every platform. Market prices can move, and the value you can realize may depend on liquidity, redemption access, and local rules. RLUSD does not automatically pay interest just because you hold it. Check the terms of any exchange, wallet service, or other product offering it; separate services may impose their own fees or conditions.

## Which networks and wallets can hold RLUSD?

RLUSD is issued on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and Ethereum. It is not the native asset of either network, so you need a wallet or service that specifically supports RLUSD on the network you intend to use. A wallet showing an RLUSD balance on one chain may not be able to receive the version issued on the other.

Before sending, check the selected network, receiving address, and any required destination details shown by the service. Do not assume that a token with the same name on another network is the official RLUSD. The facts here do not identify particular wallet apps or publish token contract or issuer-address details; verify those through an official Ripple channel or your chosen service before adding a token manually. If you keep RLUSD with a custodial provider, that provider controls the wallet keys; with self-custody, you are responsible for protecting your recovery phrase and signing transactions carefully.

## How much RLUSD is in circulation, and what supports its peg?

As of 2026-11-08, RLUSD had about 2.70 billion tokens in circulation and total supply, with no maximum supply listed. Its reported price was about $1, and its market capitalization was about $2.70 billion. These are dated figures and can change as tokens enter or leave circulation and as the market price moves. Ripple describes RLUSD as backed by at least an equivalent amount of U.S. dollars and other cash equivalents.

The circulating supply alone does not tell you how reserves are held, how quickly they can be accessed, or what redemption rights you have. Review current issuer disclosures and the terms that apply in your location before treating RLUSD as equivalent to a bank deposit. The information here does not establish a redemption process, reserve-reporting schedule, or any guarantee from a government deposit-insurance scheme. A stablecoin can trade above or below its target if demand, liquidity, or confidence changes.

## How can you get and store RLUSD?

You may be able to obtain RLUSD through a crypto exchange or another service that lists it, but availability depends on the provider, your location, and which network it supports. Check the provider’s fees, withdrawal rules, identity requirements, and whether it lets you withdraw to a wallet you control. No specific exchange or purchase route is guaranteed to be available to you.

For self-custody, use a wallet that supports the correct RLUSD network, keep your recovery phrase offline and private, and consider a small test transfer before sending a larger amount. Never share a recovery phrase with someone claiming to help you receive or redeem tokens. If you leave RLUSD with a custodian, read what happens if the provider pauses withdrawals or becomes insolvent. These are general ways people handle tokens, not a recommendation to acquire RLUSD.

## What does it cost to move RLUSD?

Sending RLUSD involves the fee rules of the network it is on, not a single RLUSD fee set by the token itself. On Ethereum, transfers require gas paid in ETH; fees vary with network demand and transaction complexity. On XRPL, network fees are generally paid in XRP and can also change. Check the fee estimate in your wallet or service before confirming a transfer, and keep the relevant network asset available to pay it.

Moving value between Ethereum and XRPL may involve a provider or bridge, if a supported route is available. That can add fees, delays, and separate smart-contract or custodial risks. Do not send RLUSD to a bridge or service simply because it accepts a similarly named token. Confirm that the route supports the official RLUSD version and understand how you receive the token on the other side. A direct transfer on one chain does not itself move tokens to another chain.

## What could go wrong when you hold RLUSD?

RLUSD has the risks of a stablecoin as well as the usual risks of crypto transfers. Its market price can diverge from one dollar, and reserve backing does not by itself guarantee immediate redemption at par. You also depend on the issuer, reserve arrangements, custody, and the availability of markets or redemption services. Check current issuer disclosures and applicable terms rather than relying on the peg alone.

Network mistakes can make tokens difficult or impossible to recover: using the wrong chain, copying a bad address, or interacting with a counterfeit token may result in a loss. Wallet software, exchanges, bridges, and smart contracts can also fail or be compromised. Review the official token details and any contract permissions before using a manually added token. Keep only the amount you need in services you do not control, and do not treat a stablecoin balance as insured cash.

## When did RLUSD launch, and who issues it?

Ripple USD launched in December 2024. It is issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ripple Labs. Ripple describes RLUSD as a U.S.-dollar-denominated stablecoin intended for payments, settlement, and access to digital dollars, with issuance on XRPL and Ethereum.

That history helps explain why RLUSD is structured as an issuer-backed token rather than a coin secured by its own proof-of-work or proof-of-stake network. Its value depends on the issuer’s backing and the networks and services that support it. Ripple describes compliance as part of the product’s purpose, but that description alone does not establish what protections apply to you in your jurisdiction. If regulatory status, redemption rights, or reserve details matter to your decision, check the current issuer terms and disclosures before relying on RLUSD for a payment or balance.

By the numbers

Ripple USD in numbers

Ripple USD (RLUSD) is ranked #37 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $2.70B and a price of $1.00 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($2.70B) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 0.0% over 7 days, up 0.0% over 30 days, up 0.0% over the past year. It trades about 7% below its all-time high of $1.07, set on Dec 26, 2024.

About 2.7B RLUSD are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $48.4M, or 1.8% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

RLUSD has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including XRP Ledger, Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

RLUSD FAQs

Is RLUSD always worth one U.S. dollar?

Ripple describes RLUSD as backed by at least an equivalent amount of U.S. dollars and other cash equivalents. That backing does not by itself guarantee that you can redeem every token immediately for one dollar; check the issuer’s current terms and disclosures.

Which networks support RLUSD?

RLUSD is issued on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum. Use a wallet or service that supports RLUSD on the specific network you choose, and confirm the network before sending.

How many RLUSD tokens are there?

As of 2026-11-08, about 2.70 billion RLUSD were in circulation, with no maximum supply listed. Supply can change over time.

What fees do you pay to transfer RLUSD?

Transfer costs depend on the network and its current demand. Ethereum gas is paid in ETH, while XRPL network fees are generally paid in XRP; a cross-chain route may add separate fees and risks.

Can you lose RLUSD by sending it to the wrong network?

Yes. RLUSD is available on two different networks, so sending it to a wallet or service that does not support the selected network can cause problems or loss. Verify the recipient details and network before confirming.

What is the market cap of Ripple USD?
