What can you do with SUI?
SUI is the native token of the Sui layer-1 blockchain. You use it to pay network transaction fees and can stake it through the network’s validator system. SUI also has uses in Sui-based decentralized finance apps, including decentralized exchanges and lending platforms. Some Sui apps may let you use other assets, so holding SUI does not automatically give you access to every service.
Sui is designed around digital assets represented as objects, rather than treating everything as entries in one account ledger. That structure allows some transactions to be processed in parallel. The network also supports Move-based smart contracts, which developers use to build applications and tokens. These features describe the platform’s design; they do not guarantee that a particular app is safe, available or inexpensive to use.
Which chain and wallet hold native SUI?
SUI is native to the Sui blockchain and is issued on that network. The token facts identify no other chain where SUI is issued, so check the network selected by your wallet or exchange before sending it. A token with the same ticker on another chain may not be the native SUI you intend to move.
You need a wallet that supports the Sui network to hold SUI yourself. Wallets can differ in how they handle staking, Sui apps and recovery, so check those features before transferring funds. You can also hold SUI through a crypto exchange, but then the exchange controls the on-chain keys and its withdrawal rules apply. For self-custody, protect your recovery phrase offline and never share it; losing access to it can mean losing access to your tokens.
How much SUI exists, and what can change supply?
SUI has a maximum supply of 10 billion tokens. About 4.14 billion were circulating as of November 8, 2026; the rest were not counted as circulating at that date. The project’s published token details here do not specify a full release calendar, so you cannot infer the timing or size of future changes in circulation from the maximum alone.
Tokens entering circulation through releases or other distribution can affect the amount available to trade. Demand for SUI, wider crypto-market conditions and activity on Sui can also influence its market price, but none of these makes a particular price outcome predictable. As of November 8, 2026, SUI’s market capitalization was about $3.53 billion and its fully diluted valuation about $8.52 billion. These figures change with the price and circulating supply; they are not fixed measures of value.
How do you get and store SUI?
People generally obtain SUI through a crypto exchange or by receiving it from another Sui user. Availability, payment methods, identity checks and withdrawal rules vary by provider and location. If you use an exchange, confirm that withdrawals are on the Sui network and review its fees and minimums before sending anything. A deposit address for another network may not accept native SUI.
For self-custody, choose a wallet that supports Sui, set it up using its official app or software distribution channel, and keep the recovery phrase private and backed up securely. Test a small transfer first if you are unfamiliar with the wallet or network. An exchange account can be convenient, but you rely on the provider to safeguard access and process withdrawals. Neither storage method removes price risk, and self-custody adds responsibility for protecting your keys.
What does it cost to move SUI?
A Sui transaction generally requires a network fee paid in SUI. The actual fee can vary with the transaction and network conditions; no fixed transfer price should be assumed. Some applications support sponsored transactions, where an app pays a user’s transaction fee, but availability depends on that app and the transaction. You may still need SUI for other activity, and sponsorship is not a promise that every action is free.
Moving SUI between a wallet and an exchange can involve both network fees and provider withdrawal or deposit rules. Sending assets across chains usually involves a bridge or another cross-chain service, which may charge fees on one or more networks and introduce additional risk. Check the supported networks, destination address and estimated costs before confirming. A transfer sent to an incompatible network or address may be difficult or impossible to recover.
What risks should SUI holders weigh?
SUI’s market price can move sharply. As of November 8, 2026, it was about $0.85; its recorded all-time high was $5.35 on January 4, 2025, and its all-time low was about $0.36 on October 19, 2023. Past prices do not predict future returns. SUI also depends on the Sui network and the apps built on it, so bugs in smart contracts, outages, congestion or declining use can affect your ability to transact or the value of tokens.
Other risks include losing your wallet recovery phrase, sending SUI to the wrong network, and using a bridge or app with security weaknesses. Staking can involve protocol-specific rules and may expose you to lockup or validator-related risks; check the terms in your wallet or staking service. The token facts do not give a detailed release schedule, so future supply changes are another uncertainty to consider.
What is known about SUI’s history and design?
Sui is a layer-1 blockchain developed by Mysten Labs, a team founded by former lead engineers from Meta’s blockchain research division. The project’s design uses the Move programming language and an object-based data model, with parallel transaction processing intended to support network activity. The available launch date for SUI is not specified, so this guide does not assign a launch year.
SUI’s value is tied to its role in the network: it pays transaction fees and is used for staking and other on-chain activity. The network also has features such as zkLogin and sponsored transactions, intended to make app access easier for some users. These features do not remove the need to check each wallet or app carefully. Before using a Sui application, confirm which token and network it requires and understand any separate custody, lending or staking terms.

Sui (SUI) is ranked #29 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $3.53B and a price of $0.8518 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $8.52B, so roughly 41% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 5.4% over 7 days, down 19.0% over 30 days, down 60.7% over the past year. It trades about 84% below its all-time high of $5.35, set on Jan 4, 2025.
About 4.14B SUI are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 10B (41% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $137M, or 3.9% of its market cap: moderate turnover.
SUI is the native token of Sui. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
