## What does holding HYPE let you do?

HYPE is Hyperliquid’s native token, tied to its own Layer 1 blockchain and trading ecosystem. Hyperliquid is best known for on-chain spot markets and perpetual futures, and its ecosystem also includes borrowing, lending, real-world-asset products and an EVM environment.

For you as a holder, the main reported token uses are paying network gas, staking and participating in governance. HYPE may also be associated with trading-fee benefits, but the conditions and current availability of any discount are not specified here. Don’t assume holding HYPE automatically reduces your trading costs or gives you control over every protocol decision.

The token’s role is different from the risk of using the exchange. Holding HYPE does not remove the possibility of losses when trading perpetuals, where leverage and funding payments can magnify the effect of price moves. Check the current app and network documentation before relying on a particular token feature.

## Which chain and wallet should you use for HYPE?

HYPE is native to Hyperliquid L1. The project description identifies that chain as the token’s home, rather than listing HYPE as issued across Ethereum or other networks. That distinction matters when you send tokens: an address or deposit route on a different chain may not be compatible with your HYPE.

Use a wallet that explicitly supports Hyperliquid L1 and HYPE. Before sending, check the receiving wallet’s network selection and follow its instructions for deposits and withdrawals. If you use an exchange or a bridge, confirm the exact network and token representation it supports; bridged assets may rely on additional contracts or operators and are not automatically identical in risk to the native token.

Keep a small amount available for network transactions if the chain requires HYPE for gas. Never send a test transfer to an address copied from an unverified message, and do not share your recovery phrase. A recovery phrase gives control of the wallet, not customer support access.

## How much HYPE exists, and what could change supply?

HYPE has a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens. As of November 8, 2026, about 239.4 million were circulating and about 951.5 million were listed as total supply. The difference between circulating and total supply is worth watching: tokens that are not circulating could affect available supply if they enter the market, but these figures alone do not show when or how that might happen.

Hyperliquid has not specified a full release schedule or the timing of future supply changes in the project details covered here. Check official token information for allocation, unlocks, staking-related changes and any governance decisions that could alter circulating supply. Do not treat the maximum supply as proof that circulating supply will remain fixed.

Market values move quickly. On November 8, 2026, HYPE’s reported market capitalization was about $18.5 billion and its fully diluted valuation about $73.5 billion. Those are dated snapshots, not measures of what the token will be worth later.

## How do people get and store HYPE?

People generally obtain HYPE through a crypto exchange, a supported wallet service or a swap route that lists the token. Availability, identity checks and payment methods vary by provider and location. Check that the service supports native Hyperliquid L1 HYPE before transferring; a listing on another network may represent a wrapped or bridged asset instead.

For storage, you can keep HYPE with a provider that supports the network or in a self-custody wallet compatible with Hyperliquid L1. Custodial storage means the provider controls the keys and may set withdrawal rules. With self-custody, you control the keys but are responsible for securing the recovery phrase and choosing the correct network. Losing access or signing a malicious transaction can mean permanent loss.

This is general information, not a recommendation to buy HYPE or use a specific service. Check the provider’s fees, withdrawal limits, custody terms and local availability before moving funds. For self-custody, keep recovery details offline and never enter them into a website reached through an unsolicited message.

## What can it cost to move or use HYPE?

Moving HYPE can involve more than one cost. A transaction on Hyperliquid L1 may require network gas, while a centralized exchange can set its own withdrawal fee and minimum. If you use a bridge, it may charge a separate fee and you may also pay a transaction fee on the source or destination network. Bridge availability and costs depend on the route and can change.

Hyperliquid trading has costs separate from simply transferring the token. Perpetual trading can involve trading fees and funding payments; the amount depends on the market and applicable terms. Do not assume HYPE ownership makes trades free or that every transfer has a fixed fee. Current fee schedules are not specified in the project details covered here, so check the app or service before confirming a transaction.

Review the destination network, token and total amount you will receive before signing. A low displayed fee does not make a bridge risk-free: smart-contract failures, operator issues or a wrong network choice can put funds at risk.

## What risks should you check before keeping HYPE?

HYPE’s risks include the usual crypto hazards—sharp price changes, wallet mistakes, phishing and loss of private keys—alongside risks specific to trading on Hyperliquid. Perpetual futures can use leverage, which can magnify losses and lead to liquidation. Funding payments and market conditions can also affect a position even when you hold HYPE separately.

The chain and its apps depend on software, validators and smart contracts. A technical fault, security incident, outage or governance change could affect access or token utility. Bridging adds another layer of contract and operator risk. Do not treat staking or governance participation as a guarantee of returns, security or influence.

HYPE’s recorded market history includes a reported low of $3.81 on November 29, 2024 and a high of $97.96 on September 23, 2026. Those past prices do not predict future performance. The project description does not provide a launch date, so avoid relying on an assumed start date when assessing its history.
