What does holding SUSHI let you do?

SUSHI is the governance token associated with SushiSwap, a decentralized exchange that lets you swap crypto assets across multiple blockchains. Holding SUSHI may let you participate in governance when proposals or voting are available, but owning tokens does not automatically give you control over the exchange or a guaranteed share of its revenue.

Sushi has also offered staking or other token-related reward arrangements at different times. Those involve separate terms and may require depositing or locking tokens; simply keeping SUSHI in a wallet does not mean you are earning a return. Check the current rules before committing tokens, including how rewards are funded and whether you can withdraw at any time.

SUSHI is not the token you need for every SushiSwap transaction. Swaps and liquidity provision use the assets in the trade, while network fees are generally paid in the chain’s gas token. Treat SUSHI’s governance and possible staking uses as separate from the practical costs of using the exchange.

Which chains and wallets can hold SUSHI?

SUSHI is not native to one blockchain. Token deployments are listed on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Harmony, Fantom, NEAR, Robinhood Chain, Base, Celo, Arbitrum, Katana, Avalanche and Solana. SushiSwap supports swaps across more networks than this token-deployment list, so a chain being supported by the exchange does not necessarily mean SUSHI is available there.

Choose a wallet that supports the specific chain and token version you hold. MetaMask is commonly used for EVM networks such as Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum and Polygon; Solana assets need a Solana-compatible wallet, and NEAR has its own wallet options. Compatibility and network support can change, so check your wallet’s current network list.

Before receiving or sending SUSHI, confirm the network and token contract address with a trusted project interface or your exchange. A token with the same ticker on another chain may be a different asset or an unofficial copy. Sending it to an address or network your wallet or exchange cannot handle can make recovery difficult or impossible.

How much SUSHI exists, and can supply change?

As of 2026-11-08, about 286.8 million SUSHI were circulating, out of a total supply of about 291.5 million. A maximum supply is not listed. These figures are a snapshot, not a promise that the circulating amount will stay fixed.

Token supply can change when tokens are issued, unlocked, burned or otherwise moved into or out of circulation. Sushi’s figures do not establish a fixed cap or explain a complete future issuance and burn schedule, so don’t assume that today’s circulating supply tells you how much will exist later. Governance decisions and changes to token arrangements can also affect how holders use SUSHI, even if the supply itself does not change.

Supply is only one part of market value. Demand, available liquidity, exchange access and broader crypto-market conditions can all affect the price. A large total supply does not by itself tell you whether a token is cheap or expensive, and a small gap between circulating and total supply does not rule out future changes.

How can you get and store SUSHI safely?

You can generally obtain SUSHI through a centralized crypto exchange that lists it or by swapping another token on a decentralized exchange such as SushiSwap. Availability depends on your country, the platform and the chain you choose. Check the asset’s exact name, network and contract before confirming a transaction; ticker symbols alone are not enough to identify a token safely.

To store SUSHI yourself, use a wallet that supports its particular network and keep control of the recovery phrase offline. Anyone who gets that phrase can usually control the wallet, and support staff should never need it. If you keep SUSHI with an exchange instead, the exchange controls the keys and may set its own withdrawal rules or suspend withdrawals.

A small test transfer can help you catch a wrong network or address before sending a larger amount, but it still incurs fees and does not guarantee recovery if the setup is wrong. Avoid sharing your screen or signing wallet requests you do not understand, especially requests to approve token spending.

What does it cost to transfer SUSHI?

Moving SUSHI on-chain usually costs a network transaction fee, paid in that chain’s gas token rather than in SUSHI. The amount varies with network congestion, transaction complexity and the chain you use; there is no single SUSHI transfer fee. Check the wallet’s displayed fee and make sure you have enough of the correct gas token before sending.

Moving SUSHI between chains adds more risk and cost. A bridge may charge a fee, while the source and destination transactions can each require network gas. Some routes use wrapped or bridged representations rather than moving the original token, so confirm what asset you will receive and whether it is supported by your destination wallet or exchange.

Swapping SUSHI for another asset can also involve a trading fee and price impact, especially when liquidity is thin or the trade is large relative to the pool. Centralized exchanges may apply separate withdrawal fees or minimums. Review the full quote and destination network before approving anything; the lowest displayed fee is not necessarily the safest route.

What could go wrong with SUSHI?

SUSHI carries the usual risks of a volatile crypto asset, plus risks tied to decentralized exchange software. A smart-contract bug, exploit or faulty upgrade could affect tokens or funds used in SushiSwap products. A swap can also execute at a worse price than expected because of slippage, thin liquidity or a sharp market move.

Multi-chain use adds another layer: bridges and wrapped tokens can fail, be exploited or lose their link to the asset they represent. Fake tokens and phishing sites may copy Sushi’s name or branding. Verify the chain and contract address, read wallet prompts carefully, and do not approve spending permissions you cannot explain.

Governance participation does not guarantee that a proposal will protect token holders, and any staking or reward product can involve lock-up, contract and changing-terms risks. SUSHI’s market value can fall sharply. As of 2026-11-08, it was about $0.18, with a market capitalization around $51.2 million; these are time-sensitive figures, not a measure of safety or future performance.

What is SUSHI’s history, and how volatile has it been?

SushiSwap began as a fork of Uniswap, and SUSHI became its associated governance token. Early SushiSwap incentives included efforts to attract liquidity providers from Uniswap. The project has since developed into a multi-chain decentralized exchange, and Sushi Labs is described as the development arm of Sushi DAO, working on a broader set of products.

SUSHI’s market history has included substantial swings. Its recorded all-time high was $23.38 on 2021-03-13, while its recorded low was $0.139503 on 2026-06-25. As of 2026-11-08, its price was about $0.18, roughly 65% lower over the prior year. Past highs and lows show volatility; they do not indicate where the price will go next.

The project’s launch date is not listed here, so don’t rely on a guessed start date when checking its history. For a holder, the more useful ongoing checks are whether governance is active, which products currently support SUSHI, and whether any staking or fee-related terms have changed.

Sushi (SUSHI) is ranked #429 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $51.2M and a price of $0.1787 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($52.1M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 7.7% over 7 days, down 21.1% over 30 days, down 65.0% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $23.38, set on Mar 13, 2021.

About 286.75M SUSHI are in circulation, from a total supply of 291.51M. No hard maximum supply is listed.

24-hour trading volume was about $2.18M, or 4.3% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

SUSHI has token contracts on 13 chains we track, including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Harmony. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
