What does holding SYRUP actually get you?

SYRUP is Maple Finance’s token, but holding it does not by itself make you a lender or give you a share of a lending pool’s interest. Maple’s lending business connects lenders with underwritten strategies and institutional borrowers; the interest borrowers repay is the source of lender yield. That is separate from simply owning SYRUP.

The project’s description does not specify what rights or benefits every SYRUP holder receives. Don’t assume the token automatically provides governance power, fee income, access to a pool, or a fixed return. Check the terms of any specific Maple product before depositing assets: a product’s eligibility, lockups, risks and returns can differ from the token’s features.

A practical distinction:

  • SYRUP: a transferable token issued on Ethereum and Base.
  • Maple lending: a separate activity involving capital supplied to strategies and borrower credit risk.

If your goal is lending yield, owning SYRUP alone does not accomplish that. If you hold the token, its market value can rise or fall independently of the performance of Maple’s lending activity.

Which networks and wallets can hold SYRUP?

SYRUP is issued on Ethereum and Base, rather than being a native token of a blockchain. You can generally hold it in an EVM-compatible wallet that supports the network you choose. The same wallet address may work on both chains, but assets and balances are separate by network.

Before receiving or sending tokens, confirm that your wallet is set to the intended network and that you have the correct SYRUP contract for that chain. A ticker alone is not enough to identify a token; unrelated tokens can use the same symbol. Use Maple’s official channels to verify contract details, and be cautious of unsolicited messages or lookalike tokens.

Keep your recovery phrase private and offline. A wallet app does not recover tokens if you lose that phrase, and a transaction sent to the wrong network or address may be difficult or impossible to reverse. If you use a custodial exchange, the provider controls the wallet keys and its withdrawal rules apply. Self-custody gives you control of the keys, but also makes you responsible for securing them.

How large is SYRUP’s supply, and what can change it?

As of 2026-11-08, about 1.17 billion SYRUP were circulating, out of a total supply of about 1.27 billion. A maximum supply is not published in the figures available for the token, so you should not assume the total is a fixed cap. Token supply can affect dilution, but it is only one factor in market value.

Tokenomics information indicates that MPL holders can convert to SYRUP through a migrator contract, and that issuance or emissions are minted as SYRUP. The amount and timing of future issuance can change the supply; confirm current migration terms and contract details before taking action. A token migration is not the same thing as moving tokens between Ethereum and Base.

As of 2026-11-08, SYRUP’s market value was about $0.14 per token and its market capitalization was about $161 million. Those figures move constantly and are not a measure of guaranteed value. Maple’s lending activity and token demand are distinct, and neither guarantees a particular token price.

How can you get and store SYRUP?

You can generally obtain SYRUP through a crypto exchange that lists it or by swapping tokens on a compatible decentralized exchange. Availability, identity checks, payment methods and withdrawal support vary by provider and location. This is a description of common access routes, not a recommendation to buy. Before using a service, check that it supports withdrawals on the network you intend to use.

For self-custody, choose an Ethereum- or Base-compatible wallet, verify the token contract for that network, and test your receiving address carefully. Keep enough of the network’s native asset for transaction fees: ETH is used for Ethereum gas, and Base transactions also require ETH for gas. A custodial platform may charge separate deposit, withdrawal or trading fees.

If you move SYRUP between Ethereum and Base, a bridge may be involved. Bridges can charge fees, take time, impose limits or expose you to smart-contract and operational risks. Do not assume a bridge is safe just because it supports the token. Check the exact route, asset and destination network, and avoid sending funds to an address copied from an unverified message.

What does it cost to move SYRUP?

There is no single published fee for moving SYRUP. On Ethereum, your transaction cost depends on network congestion and the complexity of the transaction. Base generally has its own network fee, which can also vary. A swap may add a trading fee and price impact, while a bridge can add its own charge or other costs. Check the transaction preview before you confirm; fees can change between attempts.

A transfer within one network is different from a cross-chain transfer. Sending SYRUP to another address on Ethereum does not automatically move it to Base. A cross-chain route may require a bridge or a service that handles the transfer, and the receiving network may show a bridged representation of the asset.

Keep some ETH on the network you are using to pay for gas. Having SYRUP in a wallet is not enough to pay transaction fees. If an exchange handles the transfer, check its network options and withdrawal charge first; choosing an unsupported network can delay or permanently lose access to your tokens.

What could go wrong if you hold SYRUP?

SYRUP carries both token-market risks and risks tied to Maple’s lending business. The token’s price can fall even if the protocol continues operating, and lending activity does not guarantee demand for SYRUP. Conversely, token price movements do not show whether a lending strategy is performing well.

Maple’s model involves institutional borrowers and underwritten strategies. Borrowers may fail to repay, collateral may not cover losses, and lender withdrawals or recoveries may be delayed under a product’s terms. Onchain transactions may be visible, but transparency does not remove credit risk or ensure that you can recover funds.

Also consider smart-contract vulnerabilities, bridge failures, token migration errors, exchange custody risks and phishing. Before interacting with any contract, check its address and the network, and read the specific product’s terms rather than relying on the token ticker. Maple’s public description does not establish that SYRUP is a deposit, a claim on pool assets, or a guaranteed-yield instrument. Treat those as separate questions to verify.

How did SYRUP develop, and what changed from MPL?

Maple says its onchain lending business has operated through market cycles since 2019. The project describes itself as an asset manager that connects lenders with underwritten strategies and institutional borrowers; lenders’ yield comes from borrower interest. It also reports more than $25 billion in originated loans, $4.8 billion in assets managed and more than $100 million in yield distributed to lenders. These business figures do not establish a return for SYRUP holders.

MPL is an earlier Maple token. Tokenomics information describes a migrator contract for MPL holders to convert to SYRUP, with issuance and emissions in SYRUP. If you still hold MPL, verify the current migration contract and terms through Maple’s official channels before interacting with it. Do not assume an old conversion route remains available or that a migration is risk-free.

The token’s precise launch date and a maximum supply are not established in the figures used for this guide. As of 2026-11-08, SYRUP was about 79% below its all-time high of about $0.65 recorded on 2025-06-25, and above its all-time low of about $0.085 recorded on 2025-04-06. Past prices do not indicate what it will do next.
