What does holding OKB get you?

OKB is an exchange-linked token whose main use is within the OKX ecosystem. Holding it may qualify you for trading-fee discounts or other platform benefits, but the available perks and conditions can change. Check the current terms in your own OKX account before relying on a benefit; simply holding OKB does not guarantee a particular discount or service.

OKB is also the native token of X Layer, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 network. You can use it for supported activity on that network, where transactions generally require a network fee paid in the chain’s designated gas token. The token’s uses on X Layer and on OKX are distinct: a platform benefit may not apply to an on-chain transaction, and an on-chain use does not guarantee an exchange benefit.

Treat OKB as a token with utility tied to a company-run ecosystem, not as a share in OKX. Holding it does not by itself give you ownership, a guaranteed yield, or control over exchange decisions.

Which chains and wallets support OKB?

OKB is listed as native to X Layer and has also been issued on Ethereum and OKExChain. Before sending or receiving it, check which network the service you are using supports. A token sent on an unsupported network may not appear in your account, and recovery can be difficult or impossible.

For self-custody, use a wallet that explicitly supports the relevant network and OKB contract. X Layer and Ethereum-compatible wallets may share familiar address formats, but that does not make the networks interchangeable. Confirm the network and token details in the wallet or receiving service, and consider a small test transfer when the amount warrants the extra fee.

Exchange custody is another option if your platform supports deposits and withdrawals for OKB on your chosen network. In that case, the exchange controls the keys and may pause or limit transfers. Keep a record of which network holds your tokens; seeing an OKB balance on one chain does not mean the same balance is available on another.

How many OKB tokens exist, and what can change?

OKB’s stated maximum, total, and circulating supplies are each 21 million tokens as of November 8, 2026. These are point-in-time supply figures, not a promise about future market value. The market price, trading volume, and market capitalization can change quickly; none of them determines what OKB will be worth when you need to use or transfer it.

There is an important difference between today’s reported supply and OKB’s early supply description. That description referred to a planned total of one billion tokens, including allocations for community building and marketing and tokens to be locked for a period. The current figures list 21 million as the maximum and total supply. Do not assume the earlier plan still describes the token’s present distribution.

The token’s supply does not tell you how much is readily available to trade or who controls particular holdings. Check current supply and contract information through a source you trust, and remember that exchange balances may represent custodial claims rather than tokens you control directly.

How can you get and store OKB?

You can obtain OKB through a service that lists it, including a centralized exchange, or receive it from another holder. Availability, identity checks, deposit support, and withdrawal options depend on the service and your location. This is not a recommendation to acquire it; compare the platform’s terms and understand the token’s risks first.

If you keep OKB in an exchange account, the exchange holds the keys. That can make trading or using platform features more convenient, but access depends on the service and its account rules. With a self-custody wallet, you control the keys and are responsible for protecting the recovery phrase. Anyone who gets that phrase may be able to take the tokens, and losing it can mean losing access permanently.

For either route, verify the token and network before a deposit or withdrawal. Keep recovery details offline and private, use account security protections where available, and beware of anyone asking for your recovery phrase. A token balance shown in a wallet is not proof that the token is genuine or supported by every app.

What does it cost to move OKB?

Moving OKB costs depend on the network and service you use. On-chain transfers require a network fee, commonly called gas, and the amount can vary with network demand and transaction complexity. An exchange may also set its own withdrawal fee or minimum. These charges are separate, so check the final amount shown before confirming a transfer.

A transfer between networks usually involves a bridge or a service that handles the conversion. That can add fees, waiting time, and extra risk: a bridge can be compromised, paused, or unavailable, and the token you receive may not be the same form of OKB you started with. Do not assume that an OKB balance on Ethereum, X Layer, or OKExChain can be moved directly to another network without a supported route.

Fees are not fixed across networks or providers. Confirm the destination network, token, and withdrawal terms before sending. If the receiving service does not support the exact network you choose, the funds may be delayed or lost.

What risks should you weigh before holding OKB?

OKB carries exchange and issuer concentration risk: its utility is closely tied to the OKX ecosystem, so changes to platform features, access, or rules could affect how useful the token is to you. A platform benefit can be changed or withdrawn, and holding OKB does not give you a claim on the company or protection against losses.

The market price can move sharply, and a limited supply does not prevent losses. Trading volume and liquidity can vary, making it harder to exit at the price you expect. On-chain holders also face risks from sending to the wrong network or address, wallet compromise, unsupported token contracts, and bridge failures. Exchange custody adds the risk that withdrawals or account access may be restricted.

Before using OKB, check the current platform terms and the network support of your wallet or exchange. Use only a wallet or service you understand, and do not share your recovery phrase or sign transactions you cannot explain. Consider whether you can tolerate losing the amount you hold; no platform benefit or network use guarantees a return.

How did OKB’s supply and networks change?

OKB was introduced as a utility token for the OKX exchange ecosystem. Its early description said it had been issued on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token and referred to a planned supply of one billion. It also described community and marketing allocations, with some tokens to be locked for a period. The project denied an initial coin offering and public fundraising in that early account.

The current supply figures are different: total, circulating, and maximum supply are each reported as 21 million as of November 8, 2026. OKB is now identified as native to X Layer and has also been issued on Ethereum and OKExChain. These changes mean the old one-billion-token description should be read as historical, not as the current supply figure.

A precise launch date is not established here, so avoid relying on one without checking a reliable project record. For practical decisions, focus on the current network, supply, and OKX terms rather than assuming the original distribution plan still applies.

By the numbers

OKB in numbers

OKB (OKB) is ranked #42 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $2.14B and a price of $101.71 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($2.14B) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 8.5% over 7 days, down 19.1% over 30 days, down 19.5% over the past year. It trades about 56% below its all-time high of $228.74, set on Oct 4, 2025.

About 21M OKB are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 21M (100% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $9.88M, or 0.5% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

OKB is the native token of X Layer; it also has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, OKXChain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

CoinGecko groups OKB under Layer 2 tokens, Exchange tokens.
