What does holding DRV let you do?
DRV is Derive’s governance token. Holding it can give you a role in decisions about the protocol and Derive Chain, with governance carried out by token holders. DRV can also be staked into stDRV, a non-transferable form associated with governance votes and weekly rewards. Check the current staking rules, lock-up conditions and reward terms before committing tokens; rewards are not guaranteed income, and converting to stDRV may limit your ability to move or sell the position.
Derive’s DAO earns trading fees from the protocol and gas fees from Derive Chain, while trading fees accrue to an insurance fund. That does not by itself give each DRV holder a direct claim on those fees. The practical benefit of holding DRV depends on the voting rights and token programs active at the time, not simply on protocol activity. DRV is not required to trade every product on Derive, and holding it does not remove the risks of options or perpetuals trading.
Is DRV for trading, governance or rewards?
DRV is associated with Derive, a decentralized protocol for onchain options, perpetuals and structured products. Derive describes itself as self-custodial: trades use smart contracts rather than requiring you to hand custody of funds to a conventional exchange. Its separate Derive Pro app is designed to prepare transactions through smart contract wallets, with planned support for spot, perps and options. The app’s gasless or chainless workflow should not be treated as a promise that every transaction or route is free.
For a token holder, governance is the clearest stated use of DRV. The protocol also has a staking path that turns DRV into non-transferable stDRV, described as carrying votes and weekly rewards. Fees from trading support an insurance fund, but the token facts do not establish that simply holding DRV entitles you to a share of protocol revenue. Before staking, check the active program terms and whether unstaking restrictions, reward changes or governance proposals could affect your plans.
Which chains can you hold DRV on?
Derive’s protocol runs on Derive Chain, an Ethereum rollup built with the OP Stack. DRV is also listed as issued on Ethereum, Hyperliquid L1, Optimism, Arbitrum and Base. These are distinct networks: a DRV balance on one chain is not automatically available on another, and the same ticker can refer to different token contracts or representations.
When receiving or sending DRV, confirm the destination network and token contract against Derive’s current official details. Your wallet must support the network you choose; a wallet that displays DRV on one EVM network may not support it on another, and Hyperliquid L1 compatibility should be checked separately. Do not send tokens to a deposit address merely because it accepts the same ticker. If you use a bridge to move assets between networks, check the exact asset and route, including whether the destination token is a bridged representation. A mistaken network selection can make recovery difficult or impossible.
How much DRV exists, and what can move its supply?
DRV has a maximum and total supply of 1.5 billion tokens. About 1.062 billion were circulating as of 2026-11-08, so the circulating amount was roughly 71% of the stated maximum. The remaining supply may affect holders as it enters circulation; check the project’s current token distribution and release schedule rather than assuming that all tokens are already available.
As of 2026-11-08, DRV traded at about $0.32, with a market capitalization of about $339 million and a fully diluted valuation of about $479 million. These are dated snapshots, not stable measures of value. The recorded all-time high was about $0.57 on 2026-10-09, and the all-time low was about $0.012 on 2025-04-07. Those past prices do not indicate where the token may trade next. Circulating supply, market price and valuation can change, so use current figures when assessing your own exposure.
How can you get and store DRV?
People generally obtain a token through an exchange or an onchain swap where that token and network are supported. DRV availability, trading pairs and withdrawal networks can vary by platform and location. Before sending funds, confirm that the platform supports the specific DRV network you intend to use and verify the token contract; ticker symbols alone are not enough to identify an asset safely.
For self-custody, you can use a wallet compatible with the relevant network and keep control of its recovery phrase or private keys. Store those credentials offline and never share them with someone claiming they need them to release, stake or verify your tokens. A custodial platform holds the keys for you, which may be simpler but adds platform access and counterparty risks. If you stake DRV for stDRV, understand that stDRV is described as non-transferable and may not be as readily movable as ordinary DRV. This is general handling information, not a recommendation to acquire the token.
What will a DRV transfer or bridge cost?
Sending DRV usually involves a network transaction fee, paid in the network’s gas token rather than necessarily in DRV. The amount depends on the chain, network congestion and transaction type. Derive does not publish a single fee that applies to every transfer, and an onchain trade may involve additional protocol charges. Check the wallet’s estimate before confirming and keep enough of the correct gas token to complete the transaction.
Moving DRV between networks may require a bridge or another supported transfer route. That can add a bridge charge and separate network fees for the sending and receiving steps. Bridge routes also introduce smart-contract and operational risks, and transfers may take time or be unavailable during interruptions. Derive Pro is described as supporting gasless and chainless transaction preparation, but that feature does not establish that all transactions, bridge routes or other wallets incur no cost. Confirm the route, fees and destination token before approving a transfer.
What risks should you weigh before holding DRV?
DRV’s value can move sharply, and the token’s past price range shows that it has experienced substantial volatility. Governance rights and staking rewards do not protect you from losses. Derive’s options and perpetuals products carry additional trading risks, including leverage, liquidation and rapid loss of collateral; those risks apply when you trade, not merely because you hold DRV.
You also take smart-contract, wallet, bridge and rollup risks when interacting onchain. A wrong-network transfer, compromised recovery phrase, faulty contract or disruption to a bridge can put assets at risk. Governance outcomes can change protocol rules, and DRV converted to non-transferable stDRV may be less flexible to move. Derive was formerly known as Lyra Finance, according to project coverage, but a launch date is not established here. Before using the protocol, review its current contract addresses, token terms, security information and applicable access rules. Never treat token rewards or historical returns as assured.
