What does holding GT let you do?
GT is Gate’s exchange token and is also associated with GateChain. Holding it may provide access to Gate-related features such as trading-fee benefits or VIP-tier eligibility, depending on Gate’s current rules and your account status. Project descriptions also identify GT as a token for paying fees on GateChain, and describe staking and other on-chain uses. These benefits are not automatic: check the current terms, eligible trading pairs and any minimum balance before relying on them.
GT does not give you ownership of Gate, a guaranteed share of its revenue or a fixed return. Exchange perks can change, and staking or other yield products can carry lock-up, validator and smart-contract risks. If you hold GT only for a discount, compare the value of the discount with the cost and risks of keeping funds on an exchange. Your balance’s usefulness depends on which network and product you can actually access.
Which network and wallet should you use for GT?
GT is associated with GateChain, while Ethereum is listed as an issuance chain for the token. Gate-related descriptions also connect GT with GateLayer. These network roles are not interchangeable: a balance on Ethereum may not be accepted by a GateChain or GateLayer service unless you use a supported transfer or bridge. Before sending, check the exact network named on both the sending and receiving sides.
For an Ethereum-based GT token, an Ethereum-compatible wallet that supports custom tokens can generally display and hold the asset. You can also hold GT in a custodial Gate account, if the service supports deposits and withdrawals on the network you need. With a self-custody wallet, you control the keys and are responsible for backups and transaction approvals. With an exchange account, the exchange controls the keys and access depends on its rules, account security and local availability. Do not rely on a ticker alone: confirm the token contract and network using an official, trusted source before accepting a deposit.
How much GT exists, and what can change its value?
As of 2026-11-08, GT’s reported circulating supply was about 104.7 million, its total supply about 117.0 million and its stated maximum about 142.6 million. These are different measures: circulating supply estimates what is available in the market, total supply includes additional issued tokens, and the maximum is a stated upper limit. The figures can change over time.
The token’s value can be affected by demand for Gate’s exchange features and network activity, as well as broader crypto-market conditions. Supply changes, token burns or new issuance can also matter, but a complete current schedule for releases and burns is not published here. Do not assume the maximum supply means every remaining token will be issued on a fixed timetable. Check current token information before making decisions based on supply. Price and market-cap figures are snapshots, not guarantees of liquidity or future value.
How do people get and store GT?
People generally get GT through a supported exchange market or by receiving it from another holder. Availability, verification requirements and payment methods vary by location and platform. Check that Gate and any other service you use is available where you live, review its fees and account rules, and confirm the network before depositing. This is general information, not a recommendation to buy GT.
If you keep GT in an exchange account, the platform holds the keys for you; protect the account with strong, unique authentication and be aware that withdrawals can be paused or restricted. For self-custody, use a wallet compatible with the token’s network, keep the recovery phrase offline and never share it. A small test transfer can help catch address or network mistakes, though it still incurs fees. Make sure the receiving wallet supports the same network and token version. Sending GT to an unsupported network or address can make recovery difficult or impossible.
What can a GT transfer or bridge cost you?
Moving GT can cost more than one fee. On Ethereum, a transfer requires network gas paid in the network’s fee currency; the amount varies with network demand and transaction complexity. An exchange may also set its own withdrawal fee or minimum, and those terms can change. Check the withdrawal screen before confirming rather than assuming a fixed cost.
Moving GT between networks may involve a bridge or another supported transfer route. That can add a service fee, network fees on one or both chains and extra time. A bridge also introduces risks beyond ordinary transfers, including smart-contract vulnerabilities, operational failures and delays. Use only a route that explicitly supports the GT version and destination network you need. Verify the destination address and network carefully: choosing the wrong one can strand your tokens. If you cannot confirm that a destination service accepts the exact token version, do not send it there.
What are the main risks of holding GT?
GT’s risks include price volatility, changing exchange benefits and dependence on Gate-related services for some of its uses. If you store it on an exchange, you also take platform, custody and withdrawal-access risk. If you use a self-custody wallet, losing the recovery phrase or approving a malicious transaction can mean permanent loss. On-chain use adds network and smart-contract risks; bridging adds further technical and operational risks.
Treat claims about discounts, staking returns or future network demand as uncertain, and check current product terms rather than relying on old promotions. The token facts here do not establish a published audit, a guaranteed reserve or a fixed return for GT holders. That does not prove a specific failure, but it means you should not assume these protections exist. Keep only the amount you can afford to lose, and avoid sharing seed phrases or signing transactions you do not understand. Gate’s local access, verification rules, fees and withdrawal conditions may also affect whether you can use GT as intended.
What does GT’s market history tell you?
GT is linked to Gate and GateChain, and Ethereum is listed as an issuance chain. The exact launch date is not established here, so do not infer one from historical price records. Its market history has included large swings: the reported all-time low was about $0.26 on 2020-03-12, and the reported all-time high was about $25.38 on 2025-01-25. Those past points do not indicate where the price may go next.
As of 2026-11-08, GT was reported at about $9.63, with a market capitalization of about $1.01 billion and 24-hour trading volume of about $6.0 million. These figures move continuously and may differ across venues. A market-cap figure is not cash available to holders, and trading volume does not guarantee that you can sell a particular amount at a quoted price. Check current market conditions and the spread on the venue you use before acting.

Gate in numbers
Gate (GT) is ranked #72 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.01B and a price of $9.63 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $1.13B, so roughly 90% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 0.2% over 7 days, down 10.9% over 30 days, down 21.0% over the past year. It trades about 62% below its all-time high of $25.38, set on Jan 25, 2025.
About 104.7M GT are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 142.62M (73% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $5.99M, or 0.6% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
GT has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

GT FAQs
What is Gate (GT) used for?
GT is associated with GateChain, where project descriptions identify it as a fee token. Ethereum is also listed as an issuance chain, and Gate-related descriptions connect GT with GateLayer. Check the exact network and token version before sending.
Can GT reduce trading fees on Gate?
Gate-related descriptions identify potential trading-fee and VIP-tier benefits, but eligibility and terms can change. Check Gate’s current rules to see whether your account and the trades you make qualify.
Which wallet can hold GT?
GT can be held in a compatible self-custody wallet or a custodial exchange account that supports the token and network. Confirm network support before depositing or withdrawing; a matching ticker alone is not enough.
