What can you use GHO for?

GHO is Aave’s dollar-pegged stablecoin. Holding it can give you a dollar-denominated asset to use in supported crypto markets, including for transfers, trading or other on-chain activity. Its main connection is to Aave: users can borrow GHO against eligible crypto collateral, rather than selling that collateral to obtain stablecoins.

GHO is not the same as Savings GHO (sGHO). sGHO is a separate savings-vault token: depositing GHO into its vault may earn a return, but that involves additional product and smart-contract risks. Holding GHO by itself does not mean you earn interest.

The dollar peg is a target, not a promise that you can always exchange one GHO for one US dollar. Its usefulness depends on whether you can access a market or redemption route at a reasonable price, and whether the service you want accepts GHO. Check the exact token and network before sending it; another token with a similar name may not be GHO.

How is GHO issued, and what moves its supply?

GHO is issued through Aave’s system. In general, a borrower supplies eligible crypto collateral and borrows GHO against it; repaying the loan reduces the outstanding borrowed amount. This makes borrowing and repayment important drivers of circulating supply. GHO is described as overcollateralized, but that does not remove the risk that collateral prices fall, liquidations occur or protocol rules change.

As of 2026-11-08, the reported circulating and total supply were both about 699 million GHO, with no maximum supply specified. Supply can change as borrowing and repayment activity changes, so treat this as a dated snapshot, not a fixed limit. A market-cap figure based on circulating supply also changes with both supply and market price.

Aave’s governance and the protocol’s issuance arrangements affect how GHO works. Before borrowing or using a GHO-related product, check its current collateral requirements, interest rate, liquidation rules and supported markets. Those terms can vary and can change; do not assume a past rate or borrowing limit still applies.

Which chains and wallets support GHO?

GHO is available on Ethereum, Base, Ink, xDai (Gnosis Chain), Plasma, Arbitrum, Avalanche and Monad. It is associated with Aave rather than being the native gas token of these networks. GHO transfers on a given chain require that chain’s native token to pay transaction fees, unless the wallet or service you use offers another supported fee method.

You can store GHO in a wallet that supports the relevant network and token standard. Before receiving or sending it, confirm the chain, token address and whether the wallet or exchange supports deposits and withdrawals on that exact network. A wallet showing GHO on Ethereum may not automatically show or access GHO held on Base or another chain.

If you use a custodial exchange, the exchange controls the keys and may limit which networks it supports. With a self-custody wallet, you control the keys, so losing the recovery phrase or signing a malicious transaction can mean losing funds. Keep your recovery phrase offline and never share it with a person or website claiming to help you access GHO.

What does it cost to move GHO?

Moving GHO costs depend on the network and the transaction. On Ethereum, a transfer or interaction with a contract uses ETH for gas; on other supported chains, the fee is generally paid in that network’s native gas token. Fees rise and fall with network demand. Aave borrowing, repayment, depositing into a vault or interacting with a trading pool may involve contract transactions beyond a simple transfer, so check the wallet’s fee estimate before confirming.

Moving GHO between chains may require a bridge or another cross-chain service. These routes can charge a service fee as well as network fees on the sending and receiving chains, and completion times can vary. A bridge may also introduce separate contract, operator or liquidity risks. Do not assume a transfer between two networks is a direct wallet transfer.

GHO’s fees are not one fixed project-wide amount. Confirm the destination chain and the receiving service’s deposit requirements first; sending a token over an unsupported network can leave it inaccessible. Make sure you have enough of the destination chain’s gas token for any later transaction you may need.

What risks come with holding GHO?

GHO can trade above or below its dollar target. Demand, liquidity, collateral conditions, borrowing costs, market stress and confidence in Aave or its smart contracts can all affect the price. A peg is not the same as a bank deposit or guaranteed cash redemption. If you need a precise dollar amount by a deadline, account for the possibility of slippage or a temporary depeg.

Other risks include smart-contract vulnerabilities, collateral liquidations, governance decisions and problems with a bridge or exchange. A token displayed under the GHO name on another chain may also have different technical or custody risks from the version you intended to use. Check the token contract and network through a trusted wallet or protocol interface.

GHO’s price was about $0.999 as of 2026-11-08. That near-dollar snapshot does not guarantee future parity. If you borrow GHO, collateral volatility and changing loan terms can create losses even if GHO itself stays close to one dollar. Avoid treating a stablecoin label as protection from loss.

What is GHO’s history and current scale?

GHO is Aave’s stablecoin and was introduced as a borrowable asset in the Aave ecosystem in 2023. Its design links issuance to collateral-backed borrowing, with governance and protocol arrangements shaping supply. The separate Savings GHO (sGHO) product is a vault-based way to deposit GHO; it is not simply another name for the token itself.

As of 2026-11-08, GHO’s market capitalization was about $698 million and its 24-hour trading volume was about $2 million. Its reported all-time high was about $1.03 on 2024-02-28, and its all-time low was about $0.917 on 2023-10-23. These are historical observations, not indicators of what the token will do next.

When you assess GHO, focus on whether the chain and service you need support it, how the current peg and liquidity look, and what borrowing or transfer costs apply. Do not rely on a single price reading or assume that every chain representation has identical access, liquidity or risk.

By the numbers

GHO in numbers

GHO (GHO) is ranked #86 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $698M and a price of $0.9987 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($698M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 0.0% over 7 days, down 0.0% over 30 days, down 0.0% over the past year. It trades about 3% below its all-time high of $1.03, set on Feb 28, 2024.

About 699M GHO are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $1.99M, or 0.3% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

GHO has token contracts on 8 chains we track, including Ethereum, Base, Ink, xDai. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

GHO FAQs

Is GHO always worth one dollar?

GHO is designed to track the US dollar, but the peg is not guaranteed. Its market price can move above or below one dollar, especially when liquidity or confidence is under strain.

Which networks is GHO on?

GHO is issued on Ethereum, Base, Ink, xDai (Gnosis Chain), Plasma, Arbitrum, Avalanche and Monad. Confirm that your wallet or exchange supports GHO on the exact network you plan to use.

How do you store GHO?

GHO can generally be stored in a wallet that supports its token and the relevant network. Check the token address and network before receiving funds, and protect your wallet’s recovery phrase.

How is GHO created?

GHO is borrowed through Aave against eligible crypto collateral, and repayment reduces the amount borrowed. Borrowing involves interest, collateral and liquidation risks, so check current terms before using the protocol.

Does it cost money to transfer GHO?

GHO transfers incur the relevant network’s gas fee, and contract interactions can cost more than a simple transfer. A cross-chain move may add bridge and destination-network fees; the total depends on network conditions and the route used.

What is the market cap of GHO?

As of Nov 8, 2026, GHO had a market cap of about $698M, ranking #86 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of GHO?

GHO's all-time high is $1.03, reached on Feb 28, 2024. Its all-time low is $0.9171 (Oct 23, 2023). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of GHO?

As of Nov 8, 2026, about 699M GHO were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.

Which blockchains is GHO on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum, Base, Ink, xDai, Plasma, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Monad.
