Decentraland (MANA): What Holding It Means

## What does holding MANA let you do?

MANA is Decentraland’s fungible token. You can use it for purchases in the Decentraland virtual world, including some wearables, emotes, names and other goods or services. LAND, by contrast, is a separate NFT representing a parcel; holding MANA does not give you ownership of LAND or a virtual property.

You can explore Decentraland without buying MANA. The token matters when you choose to make purchases or take part in blockchain-based activity. Some marketplace items or transactions may use other tokens or have changing payment rules, so check the asset and payment method before confirming. MANA’s use in a virtual economy does not guarantee demand, resale value or access to any particular experience. It also does not represent a claim on Decentraland’s revenue.

## Which networks can hold your MANA?

MANA is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and is also available on Polygon. Neither chain is described as MANA’s native chain. A balance on one network is not automatically usable on the other: check the selected network and token contract before receiving or sending it.

You can store MANA in a wallet that supports the relevant network and ERC-20 tokens. A wallet may show separate balances for Ethereum and Polygon. Decentraland’s own marketplace or apps may support particular networks and payment routes, and those options can change. Confirm the network shown by the service you are using matches the network of your tokens. Sending to an address or service that does not support that network can make recovery difficult or impossible.

## How much MANA exists, and what can change it?

As of 2026-11-08, about 1.96 billion MANA were circulating, out of roughly 2.19 billion total. No maximum supply is listed in the token figures. These amounts can change, so treat them as a dated snapshot rather than a fixed promise about future supply.

MANA’s market value can move with demand for the token, activity in Decentraland, broader crypto-market conditions and expectations about virtual goods or metaverse projects. The token has also had burn mechanisms tied to certain Decentraland transactions historically; the effect of any current burns depends on the rules in force and transaction activity. Burns do not guarantee a rise in price. Check current token and marketplace rules if you need to know whether a particular action affects supply. MANA does not provide a guaranteed return or a fixed redemption value.

## How can you get and store MANA?

People generally obtain MANA through a crypto exchange or a supported Decentraland marketplace transaction. Availability, payment methods and identity checks depend on the service and your location. You can also receive it from another wallet, but ask the sender to use the network your wallet supports and verify the token before accepting a transfer.

For self-custody, use a wallet that supports Ethereum or Polygon, keep your recovery phrase offline, and never share it with anyone claiming to offer support. Hardware wallets can keep signing keys offline, but you still need to check transaction details on the connected wallet or device. Leaving tokens with an exchange means relying on that company’s account controls and withdrawal policies. Compare custody options and consider what you would do if you lost access; there is no general way to reverse a mistaken blockchain transfer.

## What will it cost to move MANA?

A MANA transfer usually requires a network fee, paid in that network’s native token rather than in MANA. On Ethereum, this is gas paid in ETH; on Polygon, it is generally paid in POL. Fees vary with network demand and the transaction type, so check the wallet’s estimate before signing. A marketplace purchase may also involve its own charges or conditions.

Moving MANA between Ethereum and Polygon may require a bridge or another supported transfer service. A bridge can involve fees on the source and destination networks, and processing time and costs vary. It also adds smart-contract and service-provider risks. Do not assume a bridge transfer is free or instant, and do not send tokens to a bridge address unless you have verified the route and the destination network. If you are only moving tokens between wallets on the same network, a bridge is not normally needed.

## What risks should you check before using MANA?

MANA’s price can fall sharply, and virtual-world activity or interest may not translate into demand for the token. The token is not the same as LAND, and neither ownership of MANA nor a purchase of virtual goods guarantees resale value. Marketplace rules, available items and network support can change.

Watch for fake MANA tokens, impersonation accounts, copied marketplace pages and unsolicited offers. Confirm the token and network in your wallet before approving a transfer. Read wallet approval requests carefully: a broad or unfamiliar contract permission can let a contract move tokens within the limits you approve. Bridges and smart contracts can also fail or be exploited. Self-custody puts recovery-phrase security on you; a lost phrase or mistaken transfer may mean permanent loss. Use only the funds you can afford to lose, and do not rely on past prices as a forecast.

## What is MANA’s history, and what do past prices show?

MANA launched on 2017-09-06 and was created for use in Decentraland, a user-created virtual world. It is an Ethereum ERC-20 token, with availability also listed on Polygon. Over time, Decentraland has used MANA for purchases in its virtual economy, while LAND remains a separate tokenized asset.

As a historical price reference, MANA’s recorded all-time high was about $5.85 on 2021-11-25, and its recorded low was about $0.0092 on 2017-10-30. Those are past market prices, not targets or a guide to future value. On 2026-11-08, MANA was about $0.071, with a market capitalization of about $139 million. These market figures change constantly. If you are assessing the token today, check current network support, supply figures and market conditions rather than relying on old milestones.

By the numbers

Decentraland in numbers

Decentraland (MANA) is ranked #210 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $139M and a price of $0.0708 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $155M, so roughly 89% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 4.1% over 7 days, down 25.2% over 30 days, down 70.6% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $5.85, set on Nov 25, 2021.

About 1.96B MANA are in circulation, from a total supply of 2.19B. No hard maximum supply is listed.

24-hour trading volume was about $7.32M, or 5.3% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

MANA has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, Polygon. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

MANA FAQs

Does MANA give you ownership of Decentraland LAND?

No. LAND is a separate NFT representing a parcel, while MANA is a fungible token used for some purchases in Decentraland. Holding MANA alone does not give you a parcel.

Is MANA on Ethereum or Polygon?

MANA is available on Ethereum and Polygon. Make sure the receiving wallet or service supports the network you choose; balances on different networks are not automatically interchangeable.

What can you buy with MANA?

MANA can be used for some Decentraland marketplace purchases, including certain wearables, emotes and services. Supported items and payment rules can change, so check the marketplace listing before paying.

Do you pay fees to transfer MANA?

A transfer usually requires a network fee paid in the chain’s native token: ETH on Ethereum or POL on Polygon. Fees vary with network demand, and bridging can add costs on both networks.

What is MANA’s circulating supply?

As of 2026-11-08, about 1.96 billion MANA were circulating and roughly 2.19 billion were listed as total supply. No maximum supply is listed in the token figures, and supply amounts may change.

What is the market cap of Decentraland?

As of Nov 8, 2026, Decentraland had a market cap of about $139M, ranking #210 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of MANA?

Decentraland's all-time high is $5.85, reached on Nov 25, 2021. Its all-time low is $0.009237 (Oct 30, 2017). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of MANA?

As of Nov 8, 2026, about 1.96B MANA were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.

Which blockchains is MANA on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum, Polygon.
