What can SAND do inside The Sandbox?
SAND is the utility token used for transactions and interactions across The Sandbox, a virtual world where people create and play gaming experiences. You may use it for marketplace activity, including buying virtual items or land, and some descriptions of the ecosystem also identify governance and staking uses. Those activities depend on what The Sandbox currently supports; holding SAND alone does not guarantee access to a particular game, asset, vote or reward.
The project describes SAND as the basis for transactions in its ecosystem. It is not the same thing as owning a plot of virtual land or a voxel asset: those are separate digital items, and their value and availability can change independently of SAND. Before relying on a feature, check its current terms, eligibility and any extra costs.
Which networks and wallets can hold SAND?
SAND is an ERC-20 token issued on Ethereum, and it is also available on Polygon and Base. These are separate networks: a SAND balance on one chain is not automatically usable on another. When receiving or sending tokens, the network selected by you and the recipient must match.
You can store SAND in a wallet that supports the relevant network and ERC-20 tokens. That might be a self-custody wallet, where you control the recovery phrase, or a custodial account, where a service holds the assets for you. Wallet support can differ by chain, so check the token and network details in the wallet before transferring. Never share a recovery phrase or approve a transaction you do not understand. The Sandbox is not itself a blockchain, and the token is not described as native to any chain.
How much SAND exists, and what affects its value?
SAND has a maximum and total supply of 3 billion tokens. About 2.94 billion were circulating as of 2026-11-08, leaving a relatively small difference between the circulating and maximum figures. A supply cap does not ensure that demand or token value will rise, and circulating supply can change as tokens enter circulation.
As of 2026-11-08, SAND was around $0.042, with a market capitalization of about $124 million. These figures move constantly and are not a forecast. Demand may be affected by activity in The Sandbox, interest in gaming and digital collectibles, broader crypto-market conditions, token distribution and changes to the platform. The project description does not specify a future release schedule, so do not assume that the remaining supply will enter circulation on a particular timetable.
How do people get and store SAND?
People generally obtain SAND through crypto exchanges or peer-to-peer transfers, subject to the services and rules available where they live. It may also be received from another wallet or held in a supported custodial account. These are general ways tokens are handled, not a recommendation to acquire SAND.
For self-custody, use a wallet that supports SAND on the specific network you intend to use. Confirm the receiving address and network before sending a small or large transfer; an incompatible network or incorrect address can make tokens difficult or impossible to recover. Keep recovery details offline and private. With a custodial service, check its withdrawal rules, account security and whether you can withdraw on the network you need. The project does not publish one universal storage method or a single set of account terms for all holders.
What does it cost to transfer SAND?
A SAND transfer usually incurs the fee of the network it uses, separate from the amount transferred. Ethereum fees can vary with network demand and may be higher than fees on Polygon or Base, but no fixed SAND transfer fee applies across all three chains. A wallet or exchange may also charge its own withdrawal or service fee; check the amount and network shown before confirming.
Moving SAND between networks may require a bridge or a service that supports withdrawals on both chains. Bridges can charge fees and introduce additional risks, including smart-contract vulnerabilities, delays or transaction failure. A token transfer to the wrong network may not arrive in the expected wallet. If you are moving SAND to use in The Sandbox, verify which network the particular feature accepts and account for both network fees and any bridge charges.
What should you check before holding or using SAND?
SAND carries both token-market risk and platform risk. Its price can fall sharply, and the token’s usefulness depends partly on whether people continue using The Sandbox and its supported experiences. Digital items bought with SAND can have separate liquidity and valuation risks; an advertised marketplace price does not guarantee that you can resell an item.
Watch for impersonation scams, fake token contracts, misleading reward claims and requests for your wallet recovery phrase. Confirm the token contract and network through trusted project channels before interacting with a new app. Governance or staking features, where offered, can have changing terms and may expose tokens to lockups or technical risks. Crypto rules differ by location and can change, so check the rules that apply to you. Only use funds you can afford to lose.
What does SAND’s history tell you?
SAND is tied to The Sandbox, a blockchain-based virtual gaming platform focused on creating and playing experiences with voxel assets. The project describes SAND as an ERC-20 utility token with a finite supply of 3 billion. A specific launch date is not included in the project description, so this guide does not assign one.
Its recorded price history shows how volatile the token can be: SAND reached an all-time high of about $8.40 on 2021-11-24 and an all-time low of about $0.029 on 2020-11-04. Those are historical points, not targets or predictions. Past prices do not indicate what SAND will be worth later, and the token’s history does not remove the risks of platform adoption, market swings or changes in crypto regulation.
By the numbers
The Sandbox in numbers
The Sandbox (SAND) is ranked #227 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $124M and a price of $0.0423 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($127M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 7.8% over 7 days, down 39.5% over 30 days, down 79.7% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $8.40, set on Nov 24, 2021.
About 2.94B SAND are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 3B (98% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $28.1M, or 23% of its market cap: high turnover.
SAND has token contracts on 3 chains we track, including Ethereum, Polygon, Base. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

SAND FAQs
What is SAND used for?
SAND is an ERC-20 utility token used for transactions and interactions in The Sandbox. It is issued on Ethereum and is also available on Polygon and Base.
How many SAND tokens are there?
The total and maximum supply are 3 billion SAND. About 2.94 billion were circulating as of 2026-11-08; circulation can change over time.
Which networks support SAND?
SAND is available on Ethereum, Polygon and Base. Check that your wallet and the receiving address support the same network before transferring.
Are SAND transfer fees fixed?
Transfer costs depend on the network and its current demand, and an exchange or wallet may add its own charge. Bridging between networks can add fees and technical risks.
Is SAND a low-risk token?
SAND’s price has been highly volatile, and historical highs or lows do not predict future performance. Its use and demand can also be affected by activity in The Sandbox and broader crypto-market conditions.
What is the market cap of The Sandbox?
As of Nov 8, 2026, The Sandbox had a market cap of about $124M, ranking #227 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of SAND?
The Sandbox's all-time high is $8.40, reached on Nov 24, 2021. Its all-time low is $0.0290 (Nov 4, 2020). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of SAND?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 2.94B SAND were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 3B.
Which blockchains is SAND on?
It has token contracts on Ethereum, Polygon, Base.
