## What does holding GFI give you?
GFI is Goldfinch’s token, associated with a DeFi protocol for arranging crypto loans to real-world borrowers. The token has been described as supporting governance, participation incentives and community grants. Holding GFI does not, by itself, mean you have lent money, own a share of a loan, or have a claim on repayments. Those are separate activities and depend on the lending products and their terms.
Goldfinch Prime is closing to new deposits. If you already use Prime or another Goldfinch product, check its current status and withdrawal terms before taking action; do not assume that holding GFI gives you access to withdraw deposited funds. The closure also matters if you are considering GFI because of the protocol’s lending activity: token ownership and access to a lending product are not the same thing.
Treat GFI’s possible governance or incentive role as a protocol feature, not a guaranteed income stream. Confirm which functions are currently operating before relying on them.
## Which wallet and network should you use for GFI?
GFI is issued on Ethereum, so you need an Ethereum-compatible wallet to hold or transfer it. Before sending tokens, check that your wallet is set to Ethereum and that the receiving address supports the token. A transfer to an address on the wrong network can be difficult or impossible to recover. You will also need ETH in your wallet to pay Ethereum transaction fees; those fees vary with network conditions.
For a first transfer, verify the GFI token details through Goldfinch’s official channels and consider sending a small test amount. Do not rely on a token name or ticker alone: unrelated tokens can use the same name or symbol. Never share your recovery phrase or private keys with someone claiming to help with a transfer, deposit or withdrawal.
If a service offers GFI on another network, confirm how that version is issued and whether it is supported by your wallet and intended destination. The known issuance here is Ethereum; do not assume a token shown on another chain is interchangeable.
## How much GFI is in circulation, and how liquid is it?
As of 2026-11-08, about 95.2 million GFI were circulating, out of a total and maximum supply of about 114.3 million. The difference means some tokens were not counted as circulating on that date; it does not tell you when or under what conditions they may enter circulation. Supply figures can change, so check the latest token information before making decisions.
GFI’s market price was about $0.031 on 2026-11-08, and its reported 24-hour trading volume was about $10,200. That volume is a snapshot, not a promise that you can sell a particular amount at the displayed price. Thin trading can increase slippage, widen the gap between buy and sell prices, or make a large order harder to execute. The token’s past price movements also show that it can lose substantial value.
These figures describe the token market, not funds deposited into Goldfinch lending products. Do not use market capitalization or circulating supply as evidence that borrower repayments or withdrawals are available.
## What should you check before using Goldfinch?
The main risks are not limited to GFI’s price. Goldfinch’s lending model connects crypto with real-world borrowers, so loan performance can depend on borrower repayment, underwriting and the parties responsible for managing the loans. A token holder should not assume that protocol activity means every loan is performing or that losses are covered.
Product status is another practical concern: Goldfinch Prime is closing to new deposits. If you already have funds in a Goldfinch product, check the applicable withdrawal process, timing and conditions directly before moving tokens or making plans around the funds. GFI itself is not a substitute for checking the terms of a deposit or loan.
GFI can also face sharp price swings, weak market liquidity, smart-contract or custody failures, and scams impersonating the project or its support team. A token transfer is generally difficult to reverse. Only use contracts and services you have independently verified, and be wary of promises of fixed or unusually high returns.
## How can you store GFI without overlooking the risks?
For self-custody, keep GFI in a wallet that supports Ethereum tokens. A hardware wallet can keep signing keys offline, while a software wallet may be more convenient for frequent transactions; either way, protect the recovery phrase offline and never enter it into a site sent to you in a message. Test that you can access the wallet and understand how to restore it before storing a large balance.
If you use a centralized exchange or custodian, you rely on that provider to safeguard the tokens and process withdrawals. Check that GFI deposits and withdrawals are enabled, that the network is Ethereum, and that fees and minimums suit your needs. Do not send GFI to a deposit address until the service confirms it supports the exact token and network.
Self-custody reduces dependence on a custodian but leaves you responsible for key security and transaction checks. Neither storage method protects you from GFI losing value, trading becoming difficult, or Goldfinch products changing or closing.

Goldfinch (GFI) is ranked #2,023 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $2.99M and a price of $0.0314 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $3.59M, so roughly 83% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 9.4% over 7 days, down 12.6% over 30 days, down 90.5% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $32.94, set on Jan 11, 2022.
About 95.24M GFI are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 114.29M (83% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $10.2K, or 0.3% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
GFI has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
