What can you use ASTR for?

ASTR is the economic and governance token of the Astar ecosystem. On Astar Network, you can use it for staking and on-chain governance; it is also used to pay transaction fees on the network. Staking and governance are separate decisions: staking may involve delegating or committing tokens under network rules, while governance lets eligible holders participate in decisions. Check the current interface and rules before you act, including any lockup, withdrawal delay, reward terms or voting requirements.

Astar describes itself as a multichain ecosystem, but that does not mean every Astar product uses ASTR or runs on Astar Network. Its first Astar Stack product, Astar Fi, is a multichain personal-finance manager starting with Ethereum and Base. The stated role of ASTR is tied to Astar’s economic and governance framework, especially its own network. Holding ASTR does not guarantee a return, voting influence or access to every product.

Which networks and wallets support ASTR?

ASTR is native to Astar Network and is also issued on Ethereum. These are distinct networks, even though the token has the same name and ticker. Before receiving or sending ASTR, confirm that the wallet, exchange and destination support the same network. Sending an Ethereum-issued token to an Astar Network address, or the reverse, can result in funds being inaccessible if the recipient does not support recovery.

Use a wallet that explicitly supports the relevant network and token standard. A wallet’s ability to show one version of ASTR does not establish that it supports the other. Check the network name and token contract details in the wallet or service you use; do not rely on the ticker alone. Astar’s multichain products do not automatically make ASTR available on every chain they support. The stated Astar Fi launch networks, Ethereum and Base, should not be treated as confirmation that ASTR is issued on Base.

How much ASTR exists, and what can change its value?

As of 2026-11-08, ASTR’s reported circulating supply was about 8.83 billion tokens, with total supply also about 8.83 billion and a maximum supply of 10 billion. These figures can change, so check a current supply display before making a decision. The difference between total and circulating supply was small on that date; the maximum is a cap, not a promise that all remaining tokens will enter circulation on a particular schedule.

ASTR’s value can move with demand for the token, activity and expectations around Astar, wider crypto-market conditions, and changes in available supply. None of those factors guarantees a particular price direction. For context only, its reported price was about $0.0052 on 2026-11-08, and its market capitalization was about $45.9 million. These are dated snapshots, not a valuation or forecast. If you stake ASTR, check the network’s current issuance, reward and staking rules: the token’s supply figures alone do not tell you how rewards or future circulation will change.

How do you get and store ASTR?

You can generally obtain ASTR through a crypto service that lists the version and network you need, or receive it from another holder. Availability, identity checks, payment methods and withdrawal support depend on the service and your location. Before withdrawing, confirm whether the service is sending ASTR on Astar Network or Ethereum and that your receiving wallet supports that exact network. A ticker match is not enough.

For self-custody, keep the recovery phrase or private-key backup offline and private. Anyone with access may be able to control the wallet; a support agent should not need your recovery phrase. Consider a small test transfer when you are using a new address or network, while remembering that even a test transfer has a fee. If you leave tokens with a hosted service, the service controls the keys and may impose withdrawal limits or suspend withdrawals. Holding ASTR in a wallet does not by itself stake it or give you a governance vote; those actions require separate steps and may have additional conditions.

What does it cost to transfer or bridge ASTR?

Moving ASTR costs a network transaction fee. On Astar Network, ASTR is used for transaction fees; on Ethereum, transfers generally require the network’s gas token, ETH. The fee depends on the network and its conditions at the time, so there is no single reliable cost for every transfer. Check the fee shown before confirming and leave enough of the relevant gas token to complete the transaction.

Moving ASTR between Astar Network and Ethereum may require a bridge or another supported transfer route. Bridging can add costs beyond the destination network fee, and the available routes, limits and processing times can change. A bridge also introduces extra operational and smart-contract risks. Confirm the supported networks, token version and destination address before authorizing a transfer. Do not assume a bridge will recover a deposit sent through an unsupported route. If a service quotes a fee in advance, treat it as an estimate until the transaction is confirmed.

What risks should you check before holding ASTR?

ASTR carries the usual crypto risks: its market value can fall sharply, transfers are generally difficult to reverse, and mistakes with network selection or wallet addresses can make tokens inaccessible. Astar’s multichain structure adds a practical complication: ASTR on Astar Network and ASTR issued on Ethereum are not interchangeable merely because they share a ticker. Bridges and third-party services add their own technical and custody risks.

Staking can involve changing rules, smart-contract exposure, and limits or delays on withdrawing tokens; check the current terms rather than assuming you can exit immediately. Governance participation can also be affected by eligibility rules and how voting power is counted. Astar’s presence across an ecosystem does not guarantee that every product will succeed or that ASTR will gain value. As of 2026-11-08, its reported price was about $0.0052, well below its reported all-time high of about $0.42 on 2022-01-17. Past prices do not predict future performance. Only commit funds you can afford to lose.

What is known about ASTR’s history?

Astar’s stated launch date is not specified. The project describes Astar Network as the blockchain that anchors the collective’s governance and runs dApp Staking, while ASTR serves as the ecosystem’s economic and governance token. Searchable historical price records show a reported all-time high of about $0.42 on 2022-01-17 and a reported all-time low of about $0.0044 on 2026-08-18. Those are historical reference points, not targets or evidence of what the token will do next.

Astar also describes the Astar Stack as its suite of products for bringing financial activity onchain. Its first product, Astar Fi, is a multichain personal-finance manager that starts with Ethereum and Base. This product direction helps explain why Astar presents itself as a broader multichain ecosystem, but it does not change the basic checks for an ASTR holder: confirm the network, understand the token’s use on Astar Network, and review current staking and governance rules before participating.

By the numbers

Astar in numbers

Astar (ASTR) is ranked #463 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $45.9M and a price of $0.005206 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($46.0M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 10.7% over 7 days, down 22.4% over 30 days, down 68.0% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $0.4216, set on Jan 17, 2022.

About 8.83B ASTR are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 10B (88% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $814K, or 1.8% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

ASTR is the native token of Astar; it also has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

CoinGecko groups ASTR under Layer 1 tokens, Layer 2 tokens.

ASTR FAQs

What is ASTR used for?

ASTR is used for staking, on-chain governance and transaction fees on Astar Network. Whether staking or voting is available to you depends on the current network rules and the service or wallet you use.

Is ASTR available on Ethereum?

ASTR is native to Astar Network and is also issued on Ethereum. Confirm the network and token version with the sender or service before you transfer, because the same ticker does not make the networks interchangeable.

How do I store ASTR safely?

Use a wallet that explicitly supports the network and token version you hold. Keep your recovery phrase private and backed up securely; never share it with someone claiming they need it to help you.

What fees do ASTR transfers have?

Astar Network transactions use ASTR for fees, while Ethereum transfers generally require ETH for gas. Actual fees vary with network conditions, and a bridge can add further charges.

What is ASTR’s maximum supply?

As of 2026-11-08, circulating supply was reported at about 8.83 billion ASTR, against a maximum supply of 10 billion. Supply figures can change, and the maximum does not specify when any remaining tokens might circulate.

What is the market cap of Astar?

As of Nov 8, 2026, Astar had a market cap of about $45.9M, ranking #463 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of ASTR?

Astar's all-time high is $0.4216, reached on Jan 17, 2022. Its all-time low is $0.004384 (Aug 18, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of ASTR?

As of Nov 8, 2026, about 8.83B ASTR were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 10B.

Which blockchains is ASTR on?

ASTR is the native token of Astar. It has token contracts on Ethereum.
