What does holding AKT let you do?

AKT gives you a role in Akash Network’s decentralized cloud marketplace and blockchain governance. You can stake it to help secure the network and participate in governance, including votes on protocol changes. Staking may earn rewards, but rewards are not guaranteed income: rates can change, and staking can involve lockup or unbonding periods.

Akash connects people who need computing resources with independent providers offering them. AKT is the network token; it is not the same thing as owning cloud capacity or having a claim on a provider’s business. If your goal is simply to run an application, compare the deployment’s compute price, payment terms and provider protections separately from AKT’s market price.

Does AKT pay for Akash computing?

AKT is used for staking, governance and blockchain transactions on Akash. The marketplace also has compute-payment mechanisms: ACT is described as a USD-pegged credit used to fund deployments and pay for computing. That distinction matters. Holding AKT does not by itself pay for a deployment, and a compute charge is separate from the network fee for sending a transaction.

Akash’s marketplace uses independent providers and auction-priced computing. Before deploying, check the live bid, payment terms, expected usage and what recourse you have if a provider fails to meet your needs. A low bid does not automatically mean a suitable service. Confirm which asset the deployment requires and how credits are obtained in the interface you intend to use; do not assume every Akash service accepts AKT directly.

Which chain and wallet should you use for AKT?

Akash describes AKT as its native token. AKT is also listed as issued on Osmosis and Archway, so you may encounter representations on more than one chain. These can have different network identifiers, token denominations or transfer routes. Before sending, check the receiving wallet’s exact network and deposit instructions; a token with the same ticker on the wrong chain may not arrive where you expect.

For native Cosmos-ecosystem use, wallets such as Keplr or Leap may support relevant networks, but support varies by chain and asset. Confirm that the wallet supports the specific AKT representation and the action you need, such as staking or governance. Keep your recovery phrase offline and never enter it into a site or message claiming to help recover a transfer.

How much AKT exists, and what can move its value?

As of 2026-11-08, reported circulating supply was about 299.6 million AKT, close to the reported total supply of 299.6 million. The stated maximum supply is about 388.5 million. Those figures are snapshots: circulating and total supply can change, while a maximum supply is a cap rather than a promise that all tokens are already in circulation.

Staking rewards are one factor that can affect the amount of AKT in circulation over time. Market price can also move with demand for staking and governance, interest in Akash’s cloud marketplace, broader crypto-market conditions, and changes in available supply. These factors do not point reliably in one direction. For context, AKT was about $0.63 on 2026-11-08; treat that as a dated observation, not a current quote or an indication of future performance.

How can you get and store AKT?

People generally obtain AKT through a crypto exchange that lists the asset, or by receiving it from another wallet. Availability and identity checks vary by provider and location. This is not a recommendation to buy: compare the asset, network and withdrawal conditions before you move funds, and check that the service is permitted where you live.

For longer-term storage, you can use a wallet that supports the exact AKT network you hold, or a hardware wallet if it supports that network through compatible software. Keep a small amount of the relevant chain’s gas token available for transactions. Write down the recovery phrase and store it offline; anyone who gets it can control the wallet. A custodial exchange may be simpler to use, but you rely on the company to safeguard access and process withdrawals.

What does it cost to move AKT?

Sending AKT costs a network transaction fee, usually paid in the gas token required by the chain you are using. Fees can vary with network conditions and transaction type. There is no single fee for every AKT transfer, and a fee quoted by an exchange may include its own withdrawal charge rather than just the blockchain fee.

Moving AKT between chains can add bridge or intermediary charges, and the route may involve extra steps or waiting. Bridging also introduces smart-contract and service-provider risks; a transfer is not simply a change of wallet network. Check the destination chain, token form, minimum withdrawal and total cost before confirming. If you are moving funds to an exchange, use its stated deposit network exactly. A wrong network or unsupported token can delay recovery or make funds inaccessible.

What could go wrong with AKT?

AKT carries crypto-market risk as well as risks specific to a decentralized cloud marketplace. Its price can fall sharply, and staking rewards do not remove that risk. Staking may involve unbonding delays, validator performance concerns or slashing under network rules. For deployments, independent providers mean service quality, uptime and support can differ; review the bid and payment terms rather than treating the network as one guaranteed cloud provider.

Akash’s recorded all-time high was $8.07 on 2021-04-06, and its recorded low was about $0.165 on 2022-11-21. Past prices do not predict future results. The project is described as an open-source, Cosmos SDK-based decentralized cloud marketplace, but a specific launch date is not included here. Before staking, bridging or deploying, check the current network rules, wallet support and provider protections, and only risk funds you can afford to lose.

By the numbers

Akash Network in numbers

Akash Network (AKT) is ranked #172 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $188M and a price of $0.6283 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($188M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was up 2.6% over 7 days, down 14.1% over 30 days, down 7.1% over the past year. It trades about 92% below its all-time high of $8.07, set on Apr 6, 2021.

About 299.63M AKT are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 388.54M (77% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $2.36M, or 1.3% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

AKT has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Archway, Osmosis. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

AKT FAQs

What is AKT used for?

AKT is used for staking, governance and transactions on Akash. It is distinct from ACT, a USD-pegged credit described for funding deployments and paying for computing.

Can you stake AKT?

Yes. Akash describes staking as a way to help secure the network and participate in rewards. Rewards and unbonding terms can change, so check the current network rules before delegating.

Which network is AKT on?

AKT is described as Akash’s native token and is also listed on Osmosis and Archway. Check the precise network and token form supported by your wallet or exchange before sending.

How much does an AKT transfer cost?

Fees depend on the chain and transaction, and a bridge can add charges and extra risks. An exchange withdrawal fee may differ from the blockchain’s network fee.

What is AKT’s maximum supply?

As of 2026-11-08, the reported maximum supply was about 388.5 million AKT, with about 299.6 million circulating. Supply figures can change over time.

What is the market cap of Akash Network?

As of Nov 8, 2026, Akash Network had a market cap of about $188M, ranking #172 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of AKT?

Akash Network's all-time high is $8.07, reached on Apr 6, 2021. Its all-time low is $0.1650 (Nov 21, 2022). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of AKT?

As of Nov 8, 2026, about 299.63M AKT were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 388.54M.

Which blockchains is AKT on?

It has token contracts on Archway, Osmosis.
