What does holding W let you do?
W is Wormhole’s governance token, not a coin used to pay gas on every chain it supports. Holding it may let you take part in decisions about the Wormhole protocol; check the current governance process to see what proposals are open and what participation requires. A staking rewards program was announced in 2024, but that announcement alone does not confirm that rewards are currently available or what terms apply. W is associated with Wormhole’s cross-chain messaging protocol, which lets supported applications send data or tokens between blockchains. That does not mean you need W every time you use a Wormhole-connected app or transfer an asset. Before relying on a feature, confirm that the specific app, token and route support it. Treat governance rights and any staking opportunity as separate from a promise of income or control over the protocol.
Which chains and wallets support W?
W has issued forms on Solana, Arbitrum, Ethereum and Base. It is a multichain token, not the native gas coin of those networks. The Solana form is commonly referred to as W (SPL); EVM-network versions require a wallet that supports the relevant network and token. A wallet can show the same ticker for unrelated assets, so check the network and token contract or mint against Wormhole’s current official information before receiving or moving W. You can hold W in a self-custody wallet that supports its specific chain, or through a service that lists W. In self-custody, keep your recovery phrase offline and private; anyone with it may control the assets. If you use a custodian, check its withdrawal and network support. Do not send a token version to an address or network your wallet or exchange does not support.
How much W exists, and what can move its price?
W has a maximum supply of 10 billion tokens. The stated total supply is also 10 billion, with about 6.74 billion circulating. Circulating supply can change as tokens enter circulation, so treat any figure as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent count. As of 2026-11-08, W traded at about $0.0108, with a market capitalization of roughly $73 million; both figures can change quickly. Its market price can respond to broad crypto-market moves, demand for W, interest in governance or staking, and changes in circulating supply. These factors do not establish what the token will be worth later. If you are assessing supply, look for current information on allocations and release schedules as well as the circulating figure. A large maximum supply on its own does not tell you how much demand or utility the token will have.
How do you get and store W safely?
You can generally obtain W through a crypto service that lists the correct version, or receive it from another wallet. Availability depends on your location, the service and the network it supports. This is general information, not a recommendation to buy. Before a transfer, confirm the exact token and network on both ends; a ticker match is not enough. If you already hold W, you can keep it in a compatible self-custody wallet or with a custodial service. Self-custody gives you control of the keys but also makes you responsible for backups, signing and avoiding malicious approvals. A custodian holds the keys for you, so check its custody and withdrawal rules. For a small test transfer, remember that it still incurs fees and can be lost if sent on the wrong network. Never share a recovery phrase to receive tokens or claim rewards.
What does it cost to move W between chains?
Moving W costs depend on the network and route. A normal on-chain transfer may require gas on that chain, paid in its native asset; holding W alone may not cover that fee. A cross-chain move can involve a source-chain transaction, a destination-chain transaction and any route or service charge shown by the app. Network congestion and the chosen route can change the total. Wormhole does not publish one universal transfer fee in the information stated here, so check the quoted cost and destination amount in the specific interface before signing. Make sure the destination chain is supported and that you can pay its future gas fees if you plan to move or use the tokens again. Do not rely only on a displayed estimate: fees, confirmation time and route availability can change before a transaction is completed.
What can go wrong when you hold or bridge W?
Wormhole connects different blockchains, but cross-chain transfers add risks beyond a transfer on one chain. A bridge route depends on software, verification and the connected networks; a contract flaw, compromised component, network disruption or incorrect destination can put funds at risk. Transactions may also be delayed or fail, and a confirmed transaction may be difficult or impossible to reverse. Check the app and route carefully, including the token version, source and destination networks, fees and expected amount. Be wary of unsolicited messages promising W rewards or asking you to connect a wallet and approve a transaction. Read wallet prompts; an approval may grant an app permission to move tokens. Governance-token value can also fall sharply, and staking, if offered, may add lock-up or smart-contract risks. Never assume that a bridge is risk-free because it supports a familiar chain.
What is W’s history, and what should holders check now?
Wormhole published a W launch roadmap on 2024-04-02, describing a multichain token spanning Solana and EVM networks and governance across chains. A staking rewards program was announced later, on 2024-12-04; check the current terms rather than assuming that the program remains open or that rewards are guaranteed. W reached a recorded all-time high of $1.66 on 2024-04-03 and an all-time low of about $0.00782 on 2026-07-31. Those are historical prices, not targets or a guide to future performance. As of 2026-11-08, the token was around $0.0108. The wide gap between historical extremes is a reminder that W can be volatile. If you hold it for governance, follow current proposal and voting rules; if you hold it for another reason, check that the relevant use is still supported before acting.
By the numbers
Wormhole in numbers
Wormhole (W) is ranked #328 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $73.1M and a price of $0.0108 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $108M, so roughly 67% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 5.1% over 7 days, down 33.6% over 30 days, down 83.6% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $1.66, set on Apr 3, 2024.
About 6.74B W are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 10B (67% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $9.39M, or 13% of its market cap: high turnover.
W has token contracts on 4 chains we track, including Solana, Arbitrum, Ethereum, Base. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
W is linked to Wormhole, which we cover in our Cross Chain Bridge rankings. See our Wormhole page for how the protocol works and how we score it.

W FAQs
What is the W token used for?
W is a governance token associated with the Wormhole protocol. It is not the native gas coin for Solana, Arbitrum, Ethereum or Base, and you should not assume every Wormhole-connected app requires W.
Which networks is Wormhole (W) on?
W has issued forms on Solana, Arbitrum, Ethereum and Base. Check the exact network and token details before receiving it, because a wallet or service may support some versions but not others.
What is the maximum supply of W?
W’s maximum and total supply are 10 billion, with about 6.74 billion circulating in the stated snapshot. Supply figures can change as tokens enter circulation.
Does it cost money to transfer W?
Costs depend on the networks and route. You may need native gas tokens for on-chain transactions, and a cross-chain route can include additional service charges; check the quoted amount before signing.
How can I store Wormhole tokens?
A compatible self-custody wallet or a service that supports the relevant W version can hold it. In self-custody, protect your recovery phrase and verify the network before sending; with a custodian, check its withdrawal support.
What is the market cap of Wormhole?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Wormhole had a market cap of about $73.1M, ranking #328 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of W?
Wormhole's all-time high is $1.66, reached on Apr 3, 2024. Its all-time low is $0.007825 (Jul 31, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of W?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 6.74B W were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 10B.
Which blockchains is W on?
It has token contracts on Solana, Arbitrum, Ethereum, Base.
