## What does holding VIRTUAL let you do?
VIRTUAL is the ecosystem’s main transaction and liquidity token, not a share that guarantees income. You may need it to interact with AI agents, and agent tokens can trade against it. The protocol also describes staking VIRTUAL for veVIRTUAL, which can give holders a role in DAO governance and may make them eligible for agent-token airdrops. Airdrops are not guaranteed.
The project says fees from agent interactions generate protocol revenue, which may fund periodic VIRTUAL buybacks and burns. That is a stated mechanism, not a promise of regular burns or higher token value. VIRTUAL’s usefulness depends on people building agents, using them, and trading their tokens; demand can change even if the protocol continues to operate.
## Which chains and wallets can hold VIRTUAL?
VIRTUAL is issued on Ethereum, Robinhood Chain, Solana, Base and Arc. It is not identified as the native token of any of these networks, so the same token name on different chains does not mean every wallet or app can use every version. Before you send VIRTUAL, check the exact network and token contract against the receiving wallet or service. Sending it on an unsupported chain can make recovery difficult or impossible.
For self-custody, use a wallet that explicitly supports both the network and the token you hold. EVM-compatible wallets may support Ethereum or Base, while Solana tokens require Solana support; support for Robinhood Chain or Arc depends on the wallet. Hardware wallets can protect signing keys, but they do not remove the need to choose the right network. You can also hold tokens with a service that lists VIRTUAL, subject to its deposit, withdrawal and custody rules.
## How many VIRTUAL tokens exist, and what moves supply?
The stated maximum supply is 1 billion VIRTUAL. About 658.4 million were circulating as of 2026-11-08; the reported total supply was 1 billion. These figures can change, especially if tokens are burned, so check a current token tracker or the project’s official token information before relying on them.
Virtuals describes VIRTUAL as the currency used for agent interactions and the base liquidity pair for agent tokens. The protocol’s bonding-curve model charges 100 VIRTUAL to create an AI agent. Users can trade an agent token through the curve until it reaches 42,000 VIRTUAL, when it is described as graduating to a permanent liquidity pool paired with VIRTUAL. These amounts describe the protocol model, not a guarantee that any agent will attract trading or reach graduation.
As of 2026-11-08, VIRTUAL traded at about $0.56, with a market capitalization of about $370 million. Those market figures move constantly and do not establish what the token is worth to you.
## How can you get and store VIRTUAL?
You can generally obtain a token through a service that lists it, or by swapping through a compatible crypto wallet or decentralized exchange. Availability varies by country, platform and network; confirm that you are selecting VIRTUAL on the intended chain. The project’s token is used across several networks, so a deposit address or swap route for one chain may not accept another chain’s version.
For self-custody, set up a wallet that supports the right network, secure its recovery phrase offline, and send a small test amount before transferring more. Never share a recovery phrase or approve a transaction you do not understand. If you keep VIRTUAL with a custodial service, check its withdrawal rules and whether it supports withdrawals on the chain you need. No particular exchange listing or wallet support is guaranteed by the token’s presence on a network.
## What does it cost to transfer or use VIRTUAL?
A VIRTUAL transfer usually requires a network fee paid in that chain’s gas token, separate from the amount you send. The fee can change with network congestion. A swap may also involve trading costs, price impact or a pool fee; the cost depends on the service and transaction, and the protocol’s general interaction fees are not published as a single fixed amount.
Moving VIRTUAL between chains may require a bridge or a service that supports deposits and withdrawals on both networks. Bridges can add fees and delays, and introduce smart-contract, validator or operational risks. Do not assume that a token sent through a bridge is interchangeable with every version bearing the VIRTUAL name. Check the destination network, supported token contract, and the quoted fee before confirming. A failed or misdirected transfer may not be reversible.
## What could go wrong when you hold or use VIRTUAL?
VIRTUAL’s risks include volatile demand, thin liquidity for some agent tokens, smart-contract faults and losses from using the wrong chain or a risky bridge. An agent’s token may depend on attention to that agent rather than broad use of the protocol. AI agents can also produce unreliable outputs or behave in ways users did not expect; on-chain transactions they initiate may be difficult to reverse.
Staking and governance do not remove token-price risk, and a possible airdrop is not a guaranteed return. Buybacks and burns, even if carried out, do not ensure a price increase. The project describes an ecosystem with autonomous agents and tokenized activity, but this does not make every agent independently audited or safe. Before interacting, check the agent’s contract, liquidity, permissions and transaction details, and avoid granting wallet approvals you cannot assess.
## How did Virtuals Protocol and VIRTUAL begin?
Virtuals Protocol launched in 2024, initially on Base, as a platform for creating and monetizing AI agents for gaming, entertainment and virtual environments. It developed from PathDAO, a gaming guild founded in 2021 that shifted toward AI agents in January 2024. The project describes its agents as capable of text, speech and 3D animation, with a framework called GAME for processing inputs and retaining interaction context.
One example named by the project is Luna, an AI vocalist. The broader idea is that agents can interact with users and conduct on-chain activity, while VIRTUAL provides a shared transaction and liquidity asset. That history explains the token’s intended role; it does not establish how widely agents are used today or whether they will generate lasting demand for VIRTUAL. Treat project plans and examples separately from verified results when deciding how much risk you are comfortable taking.
