Owning RARI: Uses, Supply and Storage Risks

RARI is an ERC-20 governance token for Rarible. It gives holders a role in governing the Rarible protocol and RARI Chain, and the token controls the RARI Foundation treasury. That makes RARI different from an NFT: holding it does not mean you own a specific digital collectible or receive a guaranteed share of marketplace revenue. If you are considering RARI for governance, check the current proposal and voting rules before relying on your tokens to influence a decision. The token’s connection to an NFT marketplace also does not mean you need RARI to buy or sell every NFT on Rarible. Treat it as a governance asset first, and verify any specific use before sending tokens to a service or contract.

RARI has been issued on Ethereum and Base; it is not listed as the native token of either network. Because it is an ERC-20, use a wallet that supports the network where your RARI is held. Before receiving or sending tokens, select the matching network and confirm the token contract address using Rarible’s official channels. The same ticker can be used by unrelated tokens, so searching by “RARI” alone is not enough to identify the right asset. If you bridge tokens between networks, check the bridge, destination network, and fees before confirming: an address or network mismatch can make funds difficult or impossible to recover. Keep a small test transfer in mind when moving a significant amount, and never share your wallet’s recovery phrase to get help.

RARI’s maximum and total supply are 25 million tokens. About 24.5 million were circulating as of 2026-11-08, leaving a difference of roughly 475,000 between the circulating figure and the cap. That gap does not, by itself, tell you when any remaining tokens might enter circulation or how they are allocated. Check the project’s current token and governance information if those details affect your decision. These figures can change quickly and may not reflect the price you can receive for a particular trade.

Store RARI in a wallet that supports Ethereum or Base, matching the network on which you hold it. For long-term storage, protect your recovery phrase offline and never enter it into a website or share it with someone claiming to offer support. Check the receiving address and network before every transfer; sending to the wrong network or a lookalike token contract can lead to a permanent loss. RARI’s main risks include sharp price changes, limited trading activity, and the possibility that governance choices do not benefit holders. The token’s role in an NFT ecosystem also ties it to a market where interest and activity can fluctuate. If you connect a wallet to a marketplace or governance app, review the requested permissions and transaction details before signing. A token supply cap does not remove these risks, and there is no guaranteed return from holding RARI.
