What does holding FOX let you do?
FOX is ShapeShift’s governance token. If you hold it, you can submit and vote on proposals about the platform’s future; that gives you a way to participate, but it does not guarantee that a proposal will pass or that holding FOX will produce income. ShapeShift describes its platform as a place to swap, track, buy and earn with crypto assets while keeping control of your funds.
The token is not a blockchain’s native coin. Its stated role is tied to ShapeShift rather than paying for every service across the networks where it exists. Don’t assume that FOX automatically gives you trading discounts, rewards or a share of platform revenue: those benefits are not established by the token facts here. Before counting on a particular use, check whether ShapeShift currently offers it and what conditions apply.
Which networks and wallets can hold FOX?
FOX has been issued on Ethereum, xDai, Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon. That means you need to know which network your FOX is on before sending it or connecting it to an app. A wallet that supports Ethereum may not automatically show or send FOX held on another network, and a token with the same name on a different network may not be the same asset.
Choose a wallet that supports the relevant network and lets you control the private keys if you want self-custody. Before a transfer, confirm the network and token contract against ShapeShift’s official channels, then test with a small amount if appropriate. Check that the receiving exchange or wallet accepts deposits on that exact network; using the wrong network can make funds difficult or impossible to recover. Network fees are paid in that network’s own gas token, not necessarily in FOX.
How much FOX exists, and what can the numbers tell you?
FOX has a maximum and total supply of about 1.000 billion tokens. About 810.9 million were circulating as of November 8, 2026. The difference between circulating and total supply is not automatically a promise that the remaining tokens will enter circulation on a particular schedule; check ShapeShift’s current token information before relying on an unlock or distribution timeline.
For context, FOX’s price was about $0.0044 and its market capitalization about $3.6 million on November 8, 2026. These are a dated snapshot, not a current quote or a guide to future value. Crypto prices and trading liquidity can change quickly, and a small market capitalization can mean that even modest orders move the price. Use a live market check before making any transaction, and don’t treat the maximum supply as evidence that FOX is scarce or likely to rise.
How can you store FOX safely, and what can go wrong?
For self-custody, keep your recovery phrase offline and private, and never enter it into a site or send it to someone claiming to provide support. Use a hardware wallet if it fits your needs, check transaction details before signing, and be cautious about token approvals that give an app permission to move assets. A wallet display alone is not proof that a token is genuine; verify the network and contract before receiving or swapping FOX.
FOX carries the usual crypto risks: its price can fall sharply, trading may be thin, and a mistaken transfer or exposed recovery phrase can lead to permanent loss. Smart-contract, bridge and wallet vulnerabilities can also affect tokens held across multiple networks. Governance participation does not remove those risks or guarantee that ShapeShift will remain useful. Only hold an amount you can afford to lose, and review any proposal or app interaction before you approve it.
