What can you use PIVX for?

PIVX is the native coin of its own independent blockchain. You can use it for peer-to-peer payments, staking and participation in the network’s community governance. The project’s privacy feature, SHIELD, is based on zk-SNARKs Sapling; privacy features can help limit what transaction details are visible, but they do not make every use of cryptocurrency anonymous or remove the need to protect your identity and wallet data.

PIVX uses proof of stake rather than mining. Its masternode network also supports governance, including votes on proposals. Those features may matter if you want to use the network, but they do not guarantee a return or give you control over project decisions. PIVX is not simply a token issued on Ethereum or another host chain: it operates on its own blockchain.

Which wallet and network do you need?

PIVX runs on its own blockchain, so you need a wallet that specifically supports the PIVX network. A wallet for a different chain will not automatically hold or send PIVX. The project describes its coin as PIV, while PIVX is the commonly used market ticker; check the asset name and network carefully before sending funds.

Choose a wallet whose current documentation confirms support for the functions you need, such as receiving and sending PIVX, staking, or SHIELD transactions. Wallet support can differ: a wallet may handle ordinary transactions without supporting every privacy feature. Before transferring a substantial amount, send a small test transaction and confirm it arrives in the correct wallet. Never enter your recovery phrase into a website or share it with someone claiming to provide wallet support.

How many PIVX coins are there?

PIVX’s supply is generated through a fixed block-emission rate and monthly budget payouts, according to the project’s description. Transaction fees are burned, which offsets some issuance. That means supply is shaped by both new coins entering circulation and coins removed through fee burning; burning fees does not, by itself, guarantee that supply will shrink.

As of 2026-11-08, circulating and total supply were each about 108.3 million PIVX. The project has no published maximum supply figure in the available token data, so do not treat the current total as a cap. If you are comparing supply figures, remember that issuance and burns can change them over time. A supply figure alone also does not tell you whether the network will be useful or what the coin may be worth.

How can you store PIVX more safely?

For long-term storage, use a PIVX-compatible wallet and keep its recovery phrase offline, private and backed up in a place only you can access. Anyone with that phrase may be able to control the wallet’s funds. Do not store it in a screenshot, email, cloud note or message, and do not share it with people offering to stake or secure your coins.

Keep your wallet software and device updated, and verify the recipient address and network before confirming a transaction. If you use staking, understand how your chosen wallet handles staking and whether funds remain under your control. Staking does not remove price, software or operational risks. For SHIELD transactions, confirm that your wallet supports the specific privacy features you intend to use; privacy settings and transaction details can differ between wallet versions.

What risks should you weigh before holding PIVX?

PIVX carries the usual risks of a smaller cryptocurrency: its market price can move sharply, and you may not be able to sell quickly at a price you consider fair. Its reported market value and trading activity are time-sensitive, so check current conditions rather than relying on old figures. There is no assurance that demand, development or governance will continue at the same level.

Privacy tools also have limits. A shielded transaction does not protect you from phishing, a compromised device, mistakes in wallet use or information you disclose elsewhere. Staking and masternode participation can add technical and operational requirements; confirm current rules with the wallet and network before committing funds. Only use money you can afford to lose, and test unfamiliar wallet functions with a small amount first.

By the numbers

PIVX in numbers

PIVX (PIVX) is ranked #1,895 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $3.68M and a price of $0.0340 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($3.68M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 9.7% over 7 days, down 29.4% over 30 days, down 88.0% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $13.56, set on Jan 9, 2018.

PIVX FAQs

What is PIVX?

PIVX is the native coin of its own proof-of-stake blockchain, not a token that depends on Ethereum or another host network. The project’s privacy feature, SHIELD, is based on zk-SNARKs Sapling.

Can you stake PIVX?

PIVX supports staking, and its masternode network participates in governance. Check the current wallet requirements and network rules before staking; participation does not guarantee a profit.

What is the total supply of PIVX?

As of 2026-11-08, circulating and total supply were each about 108.3 million PIVX. No maximum supply figure is published in the token data, and issuance and fee burns can affect supply over time.

Which wallet can hold PIVX?

Use a wallet that explicitly supports the PIVX blockchain, and confirm whether it supports features such as staking or SHIELD transactions. A wallet for another network will not automatically work for PIVX.

Are PIVX transactions private?

SHIELD uses zk-SNARKs Sapling for privacy-related transactions, but privacy is not a guarantee of complete anonymity. Wallet support and transaction options can vary, and privacy features do not protect you from scams or a compromised device.

What is the market cap of PIVX?

As of Nov 8, 2026, PIVX had a market cap of about $3.68M, ranking #1,895 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of PIVX?

PIVX's all-time high is $13.56, reached on Jan 9, 2018. Its all-time low is $0.0005232 (Feb 14, 2016). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of PIVX?

As of Nov 8, 2026, about 108.33M PIVX were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.
