What does holding FRXUSD get you?
FRXUSD is Frax Finance’s dollar-pegged stablecoin. Holding it is mainly a way to keep dollar-denominated value on supported networks and use that value in crypto applications, including trading, transfers or DeFi where the token is accepted. It is designed to be fully backed and redeemable for dollars, but that does not mean every holder can redeem directly with an issuer on demand: minting and redemption are handled by governance-approved custodians, and access may depend on their terms and eligibility.
FRXUSD is different from sfrxUSD, a separate staked token associated with a yield-bearing design. Do not assume FRXUSD itself earns interest just because a DeFi app offers a return for depositing it. Any yield usually comes with separate protocol, liquidity and smart-contract risks.
The token aims to stay near $1, but the peg is not guaranteed. Its price was about $1 as of 2026-11-08. That is a dated market snapshot, not a promise about what you can sell or redeem it for later.
Which networks and wallets support FRXUSD?
FRXUSD is issued across many networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Fraxtal, Linea, Scroll, Sei, Aptos and others. It is not listed as the native token of any chain. The same ticker can refer to tokens deployed on different networks, so check both the network and the official token contract before receiving or sending FRXUSD.
You can generally store a supported network’s token in a wallet that supports that network and its token standard. Wallet support is not universal: a wallet may support Ethereum but not a particular Layer 2, or may need the token added manually. A balance shown on one network will not automatically appear on another.
For an exchange withdrawal, select the exact network supported by both the exchange and your receiving wallet. Sending to an incompatible network or using the wrong token contract can make funds difficult or impossible to recover. For larger transfers, checking the address and network carefully—and considering a small test transaction—can reduce avoidable errors.
How are FRXUSD supply and backing managed?
FRXUSD’s supply is not capped at a published maximum. Supply can change as authorized custodians mint or redeem tokens against cash-equivalent reserves, under the Frax Finance Protocol’s governance-approved arrangements. That makes issuance and redemption, rather than mining, the central supply mechanism. The token does not use proof-of-work mining, and holding it does not create new FRXUSD automatically.
About 94.9 million FRXUSD were circulating as of 2026-11-08, with total supply also about 94.9 million. Those figures are a dated snapshot and can change. The project describes the token as fully collateralized, but a holder should distinguish that design from a guarantee that every reserve can be accessed instantly by every holder. Redemption routes, custodian terms and operational availability matter.
If you are checking whether the supply or backing has changed, look for current protocol disclosures and reserve information. Do not treat a market-cap figure or a $1 trading price as proof of reserve quality or direct redemption rights.
How can you get and store FRXUSD?
People commonly get FRXUSD through a crypto exchange, a supported decentralized exchange, or a transfer from another wallet. Availability depends on the platform, your location and which network it supports. Direct minting or redemption is not necessarily open to ordinary holders; authorized custodians handle those operations, and their access rules can differ from the terms of a typical exchange trade.
To store it, use a wallet that supports the specific network and token contract, or an exchange account if you accept the exchange’s custody arrangements. With a self-custody wallet, protect your recovery phrase offline and never share it with someone claiming they can restore or verify your funds. Confirm that the token is FRXUSD, not another Frax token or a lookalike using the same ticker.
Before moving funds, check that the receiving service accepts FRXUSD on the network you intend to use. A platform may list the token but support deposits on only some of its many networks. Availability and redemption rights are separate questions: being able to trade FRXUSD does not by itself give you a direct claim on reserves.
What does it cost to move FRXUSD?
There is no single FRXUSD transfer fee. On-chain transfers require the network’s native asset to pay gas, and the amount varies with network congestion and the transaction type. Ethereum transactions can cost more during busy periods than transactions on some other supported networks, but fees are not fixed and can change quickly. An exchange may also charge its own withdrawal fee or pause withdrawals on a network.
Moving FRXUSD between networks usually requires a bridge or a service that supports the token on both sides. A bridge may charge a fee, take time to complete, or impose minimums and other conditions. Bridging also adds smart-contract and operational risks; a token on the destination network may depend on the bridge’s design rather than being a direct transfer of the original token.
Before confirming a transfer, check the displayed network fee, any bridge charge, the destination token and the receiving platform’s deposit rules. The project does not publish one universal fee for moving FRXUSD, because network and service costs differ.
What could go wrong while you hold FRXUSD?
The main risks are a loss of the dollar peg, problems with reserves or custodians, and interruptions to minting or redemption. FRXUSD’s hybrid design relies on governance-approved custodians as well as on-chain mechanisms. That means you are exposed to operational and governance decisions, not just the code. A stated backing model is not the same as a guarantee that you can redeem at $1 whenever you want.
There are also network-specific risks. A mistaken address or unsupported network can strand funds; a bridge or DeFi application can have a contract exploit, outage or liquidity shortage. If you lend FRXUSD or deposit it in a pool, the application adds risks beyond holding the token in a wallet. Market prices can move away from $1, especially when liquidity is thin or confidence is under pressure.
FRXUSD reached an all-time low of about $0.976 on 2025-02-17 and an all-time high of about $1.088 on 2026-04-12. These recorded extremes show that a stablecoin can trade off its target. Check current redemption terms and reserve disclosures before relying on the peg.
When did FRXUSD launch, and what has changed?
Frax Finance launched FRXUSD in January 2025 as a dollar-pegged, fully collateralized stablecoin. Its stated model combines cash-equivalent reserves held through governance-approved custodians, which handle minting and redemption, with on-chain mechanisms developed by the Frax Finance Protocol. The design is intended to support use across decentralized finance and traditional financial systems.
FRXUSD has since been issued on a broad range of networks. That gives holders more places to use or transfer the token, but it also makes network choice and contract verification important. A token appearing on several chains does not mean every exchange, wallet, application or custodian supports every deployment.
As of 2026-11-08, its circulating supply was about 94.9 million and its market price was about $1. Those figures are snapshots and do not establish the quality of reserves or guarantee future parity. For an owner, the practical questions remain whether your chosen platform supports the exact network, what redemption access you have, and whether the risks of the custodian, chain or application are acceptable to you.

FRXUSD FAQs
Is FRXUSD always worth one dollar?
FRXUSD is designed to stay near $1, but its market price can move above or below that level. Its recorded low was about $0.976 on 2025-02-17, so the peg is not guaranteed.
Can I redeem FRXUSD for US dollars?
The token is described as fully backed by cash-equivalent reserves, with governance-approved custodians handling minting and redemption. Ordinary holders should not assume they can redeem directly; access depends on the relevant custodian’s terms.
Which network should I use to send FRXUSD?
FRXUSD is issued on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum and many other networks. Your wallet or exchange must support both FRXUSD and the exact network you use.
Does FRXUSD earn interest?
