What can holding BNB actually do for you?
BNB has two main roles: it pays transaction fees across BNB Chain and can provide tiered fee discounts on the Binance exchange. On BNB Chain, you may also use it when interacting with decentralised applications, including swaps and other smart-contract services; those applications carry risks beyond the token itself. BNB can be staked or delegated to validators, and the project describes holder voting on technical and economic changes. Participation rules and availability can vary by service, so check the terms before committing tokens.
Holding BNB does not guarantee exchange discounts, staking rewards or a say in every network decision. Benefits depend on the platform, current rules and the way you hold or delegate the token. Treat it as a network utility token with exchange-related uses, not as a claim on Binance’s profits or a fixed source of income.
Which networks and wallets support BNB?
BNB is native to BNB Chain, where it is used for network gas and smart-contract fees. BNB also exists as a token on Ethereum, reflecting its earlier history before migration to its own network. These versions are not interchangeable just because they share a name and ticker: deposits and withdrawals must use a network supported by both the sending and receiving services.
You can generally hold BNB through a crypto exchange or a self-custody wallet that supports the relevant network. For self-custody, confirm the wallet supports BNB Chain or Ethereum as needed, then check the network selected each time you send or receive. A wallet address or token balance on one network does not necessarily mean the recipient can access the asset on another. Some wallets may also display bridged or wrapped versions; check the token and network details rather than relying on the ticker alone.
How many BNB exist, and what changes the supply?
BNB has a stated maximum supply of 200 million. As of 2026-11-08, circulating and total supply were both about 131.5 million, below that cap. Supply can change as tokens are permanently removed, so treat any figure as a dated snapshot rather than a fixed balance for the future.
The project describes a dual-burn approach: tokens are removed through real-time destruction of some transaction fees and through a programmatic burn process. Burns reduce the number of tokens in circulation, but they do not guarantee that BNB’s market price will rise. Demand, broader crypto-market conditions, network activity and other factors can affect price. The exchange may also change the terms governing its fee discounts. Check current token details and any service terms before relying on a supply or utility assumption.
How do you get and store BNB safely?
People commonly obtain BNB through a crypto exchange or by receiving it from another holder. Availability and account requirements depend on the service and your location. You can keep it with a custodial provider, which controls the keys on your behalf, or use a self-custody wallet, where you are responsible for the recovery phrase and signing transactions.
Before sending BNB, verify the exact network, destination address and any memo or tag the receiving service requires. Make a small test transfer when appropriate and practical, especially if you have not used that destination before. Never share a recovery phrase or enter it into a site or message claiming to provide support. If you self-custody, losing the phrase can mean losing access permanently; if you use a provider, review its withdrawal and account-security policies.
What does it cost to send or bridge BNB?
Sending BNB on BNB Chain generally requires a network transaction fee paid in BNB. The amount is not fixed: it can vary with network conditions, transaction complexity and the service you use. A basic transfer and a smart-contract interaction may have different costs. Check the fee shown in your wallet or exchange immediately before confirming; exchange withdrawal charges may be separate from the blockchain fee.
Moving BNB between networks may involve a bridge or an exchange that supports withdrawals on one network and deposits on another. Bridges can charge fees and add smart-contract, operational and timing risks. A transfer to the wrong network may not arrive as expected, and recovery is not guaranteed. Confirm that both ends support the same network and token version, and account for any minimum deposit or withdrawal rules before sending.
What could go wrong when you hold or stake BNB?
BNB carries market risk: its value can fall, and past price performance does not predict future results. Its uses also depend partly on BNB Chain activity and Binance’s exchange policies, neither of which guarantees demand or a particular value. A token held on the wrong network, sent to an incorrect address or lost through a compromised account may be difficult or impossible to recover.
Staking or delegating adds risks such as lock-up terms, validator performance and possible slashing penalties under network rules. Decentralised applications and bridges can have software or security failures. If you use an exchange, you also depend on its custody, access and withdrawal services. Before committing BNB, understand how you can withdraw it, whether you can tolerate a loss, and what protections—if any—apply in your jurisdiction. Do not treat a displayed balance as guaranteed access to funds.
How did BNB move from Ethereum to BNB Chain?
BNB launched on 2017-07-08 through Binance and began as a token on Ethereum before moving to its own network architecture. The original supply was 200 million: half was distributed to the public, 40% allocated to the founding team and 10% to angel investors. BNB Chain is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, which helps developers use familiar smart-contract tools, but compatibility does not make assets on different networks identical.
The network uses Proof of Staked Authority, according to the project description. It identifies 21 active validators, called the Cabinet, with blocks produced about every three seconds; validators are selected daily based on BNB staked or delegated to them. The network also describes fast finality and slashing penalties. These design details explain how BNB participates in network operation, but they are not a guarantee against outages, attacks or losses.

BNB (BNB) is ranked #4 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $91.5B and a price of $695.85 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($91.5B) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 1.0% over 7 days, down 6.0% over 30 days, down 30.4% over the past year. It trades about 49% below its all-time high of $1,370, set on Oct 13, 2025.
About 131.51M BNB are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 200M (66% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $570M, or 0.6% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
BNB is the native token of BNB Chain and BNB Chain; it also has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

BNB FAQs
What is BNB used for?
BNB is used to pay transaction and smart-contract fees on BNB Chain. It may also be used for staking or delegation, holder voting and tiered fee discounts on Binance, subject to current rules.
Is BNB on Ethereum or BNB Chain?
BNB is native to BNB Chain and also exists as a token on Ethereum. Check the network selected by both the sending and receiving services before transferring; matching tickers alone do not ensure compatibility.
What is BNB’s maximum supply?
As of 2026-11-08, circulating and total supply were each about 131.5 million BNB, with a stated maximum of 200 million. The project describes token burns that can reduce supply over time.
Can you keep BNB in a wallet?
You can generally hold BNB with a custodial exchange or a self-custody wallet that supports the right network. With self-custody, keep your recovery phrase private and secure; losing it can mean permanent loss of access.
Does sending BNB cost a fee?
A BNB Chain transfer generally requires a network fee paid in BNB, and the amount can vary. Exchange withdrawal fees may be separate, while a bridge or cross-network transfer can add fees and security risks.
What is the market cap of BNB?
As of Nov 8, 2026, BNB had a market cap of about $91.5B, ranking #4 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of BNB?
BNB's all-time high is $1,370, reached on Oct 13, 2025. Its all-time low is $0.0398 (Oct 18, 2017). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of BNB?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 131.51M BNB were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 200M.
Which blockchains is BNB on?
BNB is the native token of BNB Chain and BNB Chain. It has token contracts on Ethereum.
