Owning BERA: Uses, Wallets and Risks

BERA is Berachain’s native gas token. You need it to pay transaction fees when sending tokens or interacting with apps on the Berachain network. The fee is charged for using network resources; holding BERA does not by itself give you a share of an app’s revenue or guarantee a reward.

BERA is different from BGT, Berachain’s non-transferable governance token. Don’t assume that owning BERA gives you the same governance rights or functions as BGT. If you plan to use a Berachain app, check which token it requires and what action you are authorizing before you confirm a transaction. Keep a small amount of BERA available for fees if you want to make transactions on the network.

BERA is native to Berachain; no other issuing chains are listed for the token. Berachain is an EVM-compatible blockchain, so you need a wallet that supports the Berachain network and can manage its assets. Some Ethereum-compatible wallets can connect to EVM networks, but support varies: confirm that your wallet supports Berachain before transferring funds.

In a wallet, check the network name and token symbol before you receive or send BERA. A wallet may not display a token automatically, and an asset with the same ticker on another network is not necessarily BERA on Berachain. If you add network details yourself, get them from Berachain’s official channels rather than copying settings from an unsolicited message. Test with a small transfer when practical, and remember that tokens sent to an unsupported network or address may be difficult or impossible to recover.

As of November 8, 2026, reported circulating supply was about 365.2 million BERA and total supply was about 564.5 million. These figures describe different measures: circulating supply is the portion counted as circulating, while total supply includes tokens outside that measure. The circulating amount can change as tokens enter circulation.

A maximum supply is not specified in the token figures. Don’t treat the total supply as a fixed cap or assume that today’s circulating amount will remain the same. Token unlocks and future issuance can affect how much BERA is available, although the figures here do not give a complete schedule or unlock amounts. If supply matters to your decision, check Berachain’s current token information and distinguish circulating supply, total supply and any stated maximum rather than relying on one number.

For self-custody, use a wallet that supports Berachain and keep its recovery phrase offline. Anyone who gets that phrase or your private keys can control the assets; support staff should not need them. Store a backup somewhere private and secure, and avoid screenshots, cloud notes or messages that could expose it.

Before sending BERA, confirm the receiving address and that both wallets are using Berachain. A test transaction can help catch a network or address mistake before you send a larger amount. For longer-term storage, a hardware wallet may reduce exposure of signing keys to an internet-connected device, but it does not protect you from approving a malicious transaction or losing your recovery phrase. Review transaction details carefully, keep your wallet software and device secure, and be wary of fake wallet apps, support accounts and airdrop claims.

BERA carries both market and network risks. Its price can fall sharply, and past prices do not indicate what it will be worth later. As of November 8, 2026, the reported price was about $0.11; the reported all-time high was $14.83 on February 6, 2025. Those figures show how widely the price has moved, not what it will do next. Trading liquidity can also change, so a quoted price may not be the price you receive for a large transaction.

You also face ordinary blockchain risks: a transfer to the wrong address or network may be irreversible, wallet keys can be stolen or lost, and network or app problems can interrupt activity. Token supply changes may affect market conditions. Using BERA in a DeFi app adds smart-contract and app-specific risks; read the transaction prompt and understand what permissions you grant before signing. Never risk money you cannot afford to lose.
