What does holding T let you do?

Holding T gives you a token used in Threshold Network’s governance and staking system. The network uses threshold cryptography: sensitive operations are split among independent participants, and a required number must cooperate for an operation to succeed. This approach is intended to reduce reliance on one central party.

T holders can participate in Threshold DAO governance, subject to the network’s voting rules. T is also used to stake and help coordinate node operators. Staking involves protocol and operator risks; it is not the same as holding T in a wallet, and returns are not guaranteed.

Threshold’s best-known application is tBTC, which is designed to let Bitcoin be represented on Ethereum for use in decentralized finance without a single centralized custodian. Holding T does not mean you hold BTC or tBTC, and it does not automatically give you a claim on either. Consider T a separate token with its own governance, network and market risks.

How is T connected to tBTC?

Threshold Network is a threshold-cryptography protocol formed by the merger of NuCypher and Keep Network. Its technology distributes sensitive operations across multiple network participants rather than relying on one party. The project’s prominent application, tBTC, is designed to bring Bitcoin onto Ethereum so it can be used in onchain applications.

T is not Bitcoin, and owning T is not equivalent to owning tBTC. If you use tBTC, you take on risks tied to the bridge and its operation, as well as the usual risks of the network where you use it. Threshold’s design aims to avoid a single centralized custodian, but no bridge design removes all technical or operational risk.

If your reason for holding T is tBTC, check whether you actually need T for the action you plan to take. Using tBTC and holding or staking T are different activities. Don’t assume that demand for one automatically guarantees demand or value for the other.

Which chains and wallets support T?

T is issued on Ethereum, Solana, Base and Optimism. It is not listed as the native token of any of these chains, so check the network and token details before sending funds. A token with the same ticker on another chain may not be the Threshold asset you intend to use.

For storage, use a wallet that supports the specific chain and token representation you hold. Some wallets show tokens automatically; others may require you to add the asset details. Before transferring a significant amount, confirm the receiving wallet supports that network and consider a small test transaction.

A hardware wallet can help protect signing keys, but it does not protect you from choosing the wrong network, approving a malicious transaction or losing your recovery phrase. Keep your recovery phrase offline and private. If you use an exchange, check which networks it supports for T deposits and withdrawals; availability can differ even when the token exists on several chains.

How much T exists, and can supply change?

As of 2026-11-08, Threshold’s reported circulating and total supply are both about 11.16 billion T. No maximum supply is listed, so you should not treat that current total as a fixed cap. Supply figures can change as tokens are issued, unlocked, burned or otherwise accounted for.

T’s market price and value can move sharply. On 2026-11-08, its reported market capitalization was about $50.8 million; that is a dated snapshot, not a measure of what you could receive in a future sale. The token’s reported all-time high was about $0.227 on 2022-03-02, while its reported all-time low was about $0.00315 on 2026-06-25. Past prices do not predict future performance.

Staking or governance may affect how some holders use T, but they do not guarantee a price increase or a return. Check current supply and token-contract details before relying on a figure, especially if you are comparing tokens across multiple networks.

How do you get and store T?

People generally obtain T through a crypto exchange or a decentralized exchange that supports the token on the network they want to use. Listings and supported networks vary. Before you act, check the token’s identity, the chain, and whether deposits or withdrawals are currently enabled. This is general information, not a recommendation to buy.

You can keep T in a compatible self-custody wallet or with a custodial provider that supports the relevant network. With self-custody, you control the keys and are responsible for backups and transaction approvals. With a custodian, the provider controls the keys and may set its own withdrawal rules or suspend service.

If you plan to stake or vote, check the current Threshold Network instructions and understand any lock-up, withdrawal delay, operator requirements, or penalties before committing tokens. Don’t assume every wallet supports staking or governance just because it can display T. Never share a recovery phrase or sign a transaction you do not understand.

What does it cost to move T?

Moving T costs a network transaction fee, usually paid in that chain’s gas token—not necessarily in T. The amount varies with network congestion, transaction complexity and the chain you choose. Threshold does not publish one universal fee for transfers across all four networks, so check the wallet or exchange’s quoted cost before confirming.

Moving T between chains can involve a bridge or a service that swaps one representation for another. That may add a separate service charge, extra transactions and additional smart-contract or bridge risk. A transfer sent on an unsupported chain may be delayed or difficult to recover. Do not assume an exchange deposit address on one network will accept T sent on another.

Before moving a larger amount, confirm the destination network and token representation, compare the displayed fees, and make sure the receiving wallet or service supports them. A low network fee does not make a bridge risk-free, and a transfer may not be reversible once confirmed.

What risks should you check before holding T?

T carries crypto-market risk, including sharp price moves and the possibility of losing some or all of your value. The reported one-year price change was about -65.7% as of 2026-11-08, which illustrates past volatility but does not forecast what happens next. Liquidity can also vary between exchanges and chains.

There are separate risks in staking, governance and tBTC. Staking may expose you to operator, protocol or penalty risks; governance decisions can change how the system works. A bug, exploit, operational failure or attack affecting a contract, bridge, wallet or underlying chain could disrupt access or cause losses. Multiple token representations also create room for mistakes: verify the chain and token contract before sending.

Threshold Network was formed in 2022 through the merger of NuCypher and Keep Network. That history may help explain the project’s threshold-cryptography focus, but it is not a guarantee of future security or adoption. Do not rely on T as a stable store of value, and only commit funds you can afford to lose.

By the numbers

Threshold Network in numbers

Threshold Network (T) is ranked #432 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $50.8M and a price of $0.004553 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($50.8M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 0.6% over 7 days, down 12.9% over 30 days, down 65.7% over the past year. It trades about 98% below its all-time high of $0.2269, set on Mar 2, 2022.

About 11.16B T are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $1.17M, or 2.3% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

T has token contracts on 4 chains we track, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Optimism. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
