## What does holding ZRO let you do?

ZRO is LayerZero’s token, while LayerZero itself is a protocol that lets apps send messages and assets between blockchains. Holding ZRO is mainly relevant if you want to participate in LayerZero governance, including decisions about protocol policy. It is not the same as owning a share of the company, and it does not automatically give you a claim on protocol revenue.

You generally do not need ZRO just to use an app built with LayerZero. A cross-chain app may instead require the asset you are sending, plus the network’s gas token and any fees set by that app or route. Before treating ZRO as a useful part of a particular app, check whether that app actually accepts or uses it. The token’s governance role also means its practical value can depend on proposals, voting rules and how much influence holders exercise.

## Which networks and wallets support ZRO?

ZRO exists as a token on several networks rather than as the native coin of a single LayerZero blockchain. The listed networks are Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism and Avalanche. A token displayed on one of these networks may not be interchangeable with a version on another without a supported transfer or bridge route.

You can store ZRO in a wallet that supports the network on which your token is held. A wallet’s ability to display one version does not mean it supports every chain or every transfer route. Hardware wallets may also be used where the wallet software and device support the relevant network and token. Before receiving or sending ZRO, check the selected network and token contract against a trusted project or exchange source. Sending to an address on the wrong network, or selecting an unsupported token representation, can make recovery difficult or impossible.

## How much ZRO exists, and what could change supply?

ZRO has a maximum and total supply of 1 billion tokens. About 400 million were circulating as of 2026-11-08, leaving the difference between circulating and total supply outside circulation at that snapshot. Circulating supply can change as tokens are released, moved or otherwise counted, so treat it as a dated measure rather than a permanent figure.

The project’s future supply schedule and the timing of any further releases are not specified here, so do not assume that the non-circulating amount will enter the market at a particular pace. Supply changes can affect how much ZRO is available to trade, but they do not tell you what its price will do. If supply timing matters to your decision, check LayerZero’s current token disclosures and governance updates. ZRO’s maximum supply is a cap, not a guarantee that the circulating amount will remain stable.

## How do you get and store ZRO?

People generally obtain ZRO through a crypto exchange that lists it, or by receiving it from another wallet. Availability, identity checks and withdrawal options depend on the service and your location. A wallet transfer does not itself move ZRO between blockchains; using a bridge or cross-chain route may be necessary if your tokens are on a different network from the one you need.

For self-custody, you control the wallet’s recovery phrase or private keys. Keep them offline and private, and never share them with someone claiming they need them to release tokens. For exchange custody, the platform controls the keys, so access and withdrawals depend on its systems and policies. In either case, confirm the network and address before sending a small or large amount. Be especially cautious of unsolicited messages, fake support accounts and token contracts that imitate ZRO.

## What does it cost to move ZRO?

There is no single transfer fee for ZRO. A normal transfer usually requires gas on the network where the token is held. The amount varies with network conditions and the transaction, and you need that network’s gas token to pay it. A transfer through a LayerZero-powered app or bridge can add route-specific charges, such as fees for message execution or the app’s own service.

Cross-chain transfers can also involve costs on more than one network. Check the sending screen for the exact route, estimated fees, the asset you will receive and whether the destination transaction needs additional gas. A low displayed fee does not remove the risks of using a bridge or smart contract. If you are only moving ZRO between addresses on the same network, you generally do not need a cross-chain route, but you still pay that network’s transaction fee.

## What can go wrong when you hold or move ZRO?

ZRO has both token-specific risks and the usual crypto risks. Its market price can change sharply, and a maximum supply does not protect holders from losses. Governance influence may be limited or concentrated, and holding tokens does not guarantee that a proposal will pass or that an app will adopt LayerZero.

Cross-chain activity adds technical and operational risks. A route may depend on smart contracts, message verification and execution services; a bug, compromised key, faulty configuration or failure in one part of the route could delay or lose assets. Network congestion can also increase costs or prevent a transaction from completing as expected. Check the app and route carefully, including the destination network and asset, and avoid relying on a bridge for funds you cannot afford to lose. Use official project channels to verify token details and beware of fake contracts, airdrops and support requests.

## When did ZRO launch, and what is its history?

LayerZero’s ZRO token launched in 2024. The protocol is designed to support communication between blockchains, and ZRO is associated with governance rather than functioning as the native gas coin of a LayerZero chain. Governance may cover matters such as protocol fee policy, but proposals and voting arrangements can change; check current governance terms before assuming what a token balance lets you vote on.

For historical price context, ZRO reached a reported all-time high of about $7.47 on 2024-12-06 and a reported low of about $0.71 on 2026-07-31. Those are past observations, not indicators of future performance. As of 2026-11-08, the reported circulating supply was about 400 million against a 1 billion maximum. Supply, prices and market conditions can change, so use dated figures and current project disclosures when assessing what you hold.

By the numbers

LayerZero in numbers

LayerZero (ZRO) is ranked #90 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $644M and a price of $1.61 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $1.61B, so roughly 40% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 12.0% over 7 days, down 21.8% over 30 days, down 5.0% over the past year. It trades about 78% below its all-time high of $7.47, set on Dec 6, 2024.

About 399.98M ZRO are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1B (40% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $25.1M, or 3.9% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

ZRO has token contracts on 7 chains we track, including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

ZRO FAQs

What is ZRO used for?

ZRO is associated with LayerZero governance, including decisions about protocol policy. Holding it does not automatically give you a claim on company revenue or guarantee influence over outcomes.

Which networks is ZRO on?

ZRO is available on Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism and Avalanche. Make sure your wallet supports the network and that you select the correct token version when receiving or transferring it.

Do you need ZRO to use LayerZero?

No. A LayerZero-powered app may not require ZRO to send an asset. You may still need the asset being transferred, network gas and any fees charged by the app or route.

How much does it cost to transfer ZRO?

The network gas fee depends on where ZRO is held and current network conditions. A cross-chain route may add app or execution charges, so check the full fee estimate and destination details before confirming.

What is ZRO’s maximum supply?

ZRO has a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens, with about 400 million circulating as of 2026-11-08. Circulating supply can change, and the maximum does not indicate when additional tokens may enter circulation.
