What does holding MONEY actually mean?
Defi.money (MONEY) is a USD-denominated stablecoin you can mint by depositing collateral and opening a loan in the Defi.money protocol. It is designed to represent one US dollar, but that target is not a guarantee: market demand, collateral values, protocol operation and trading liquidity can all affect the price you can actually get.
Unlike a stablecoin issued against a fixed reserve of cash, MONEY is described as a collateral-backed token. The protocol uses an automated market maker (AMM) liquidation mechanism that can sell or buy collateral across a price range rather than liquidating it at one fixed threshold. That design may reduce the chance of a sudden full liquidation, but it does not remove the risk that collateral falls sharply or that a loan becomes unsafe.
MONEY is a token for use within this borrowing system, not a share in a company or a claim to a bank deposit. Before you mint or acquire it, check the current protocol rules, collateral requirements and redemption process. Do not treat the dollar denomination as proof that every token can always be exchanged for exactly one dollar.
Which networks and wallets can you use for MONEY?
MONEY is issued on Optimism and Arbitrum, both Ethereum layer-2 networks. It is not listed as the native token of either chain, so you need a wallet that supports the correct network and the specific MONEY token contract. Do not send it to an address or wallet that cannot receive tokens on the selected network.
Defi.money describes MONEY as cross-chain: it can be minted on multiple chains and moved between them through bridging. Before bridging, confirm the source and destination networks, the token contract on each network, and the bridge route shown by the protocol. A similarly named token on another chain may not be the same asset, and choosing the wrong network can make funds difficult or impossible to recover.
Layer-2 networks often have lower transaction costs than Ethereum mainnet, but fees still vary and you generally need the network’s gas token to transact. Check the fee estimate and destination address before confirming. If you are receiving MONEY from someone else, ask which network they will use and verify that your wallet is set to receive it there.
How much MONEY is circulating, and how liquid is it?
As of 2026-11-08, MONEY had about 10.0 million tokens in circulation and about 10.0 million total supply. No maximum supply is listed, so you should not assume that 10.0 million is a permanent cap. Because users can mint MONEY by depositing collateral and opening loans, supply can change as people use or repay positions under the protocol’s rules.
The token’s market price was about $0.99 on 2026-11-08, with a market capitalization of about $10 million. These are dated snapshots, not a promise of future value or proof that you can trade a large amount at that price. Reported 24-hour trading volume was about $259 on that date, which points to a thin market; a small order can have a noticeable effect on the price you receive.
If you are buying or selling, check the current quote, order depth and network before you confirm. A stablecoin can trade above or below its target, and low liquidity can make the difference between the displayed price and your actual execution material.
How should you store MONEY safely?
For self-custody, use a wallet that supports Optimism or Arbitrum and keep your recovery phrase offline. Never share it with a person, website or support account. Store it somewhere private and secure; anyone who obtains it may be able to control the wallet. Consider a hardware wallet if you are holding an amount that would be costly to lose, and test a small transfer before moving a larger balance.
Confirm the MONEY contract address from Defi.money’s official channels and check that it matches the network you intend to use. Token names and symbols can be copied. A wallet display alone is not enough to establish that you have the intended asset. Use a trusted wallet interface, review transaction details, and be alert to approvals that give a contract permission to move tokens.
If you use a centralized exchange or hosted wallet, you rely on that provider to safeguard access and process withdrawals. Check whether it supports MONEY on the network you need, and understand its custody and withdrawal terms before depositing.
What can go wrong when you hold or mint MONEY?
MONEY carries several risks beyond ordinary wallet security. Its dollar target can break, and there is no guarantee that you can sell or redeem it for one dollar at a time of stress. Thin trading activity may make it harder to exit without accepting a worse price. The protocol also depends on smart contracts, oracle and market mechanisms, and the collateral supporting outstanding loans; faults, attacks or severe market moves could cause losses.
If you mint MONEY, borrowing creates liquidation risk. The AMM-based mechanism is designed to act across a range of collateral prices, but it cannot prevent collateral from falling too far or ensure that a position remains safe. Monitor your collateral and loan terms, and leave a margin for volatility rather than relying on a liquidation design as a guarantee.
Cross-chain transfers add bridge, network and contract risks. Verify every network and destination before signing. Never rely on a peg, bridge or protocol mechanism as a substitute for checking current conditions, and only commit funds you can afford to lose.

Defi.money in numbers
Defi.money (MONEY) is ranked #1,237 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $9.95M and a price of $0.9942 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($9.95M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was up 0.0% over 7 days, down 0.4% over 30 days, up 0.3% over the past year. It trades about 19% below its all-time high of $1.22, set on Aug 20, 2026.
About 10.01M MONEY are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
24-hour trading volume was about $259, or 0.0% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
MONEY has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Optimism, Arbitrum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

MONEY FAQs
Is Defi.money (MONEY) always worth $1?
MONEY is designed to be worth one US dollar, but that is a target rather than a guaranteed exchange rate. Trading liquidity, collateral conditions and protocol operation can cause it to trade above or below $1.
What network is MONEY on?
MONEY is issued on Optimism and Arbitrum. Use a wallet that supports the relevant network, and verify the token contract and network before receiving or sending it.
How many MONEY tokens are there?
The token supply was about 10.0 million in circulation and total as of 2026-11-08. No maximum supply is listed, and the amount can change as users mint or repay MONEY through the protocol.
How do you mint MONEY?
Defi.money describes MONEY as mintable against deposited collateral through a loan. That means you need to understand the collateral requirements and liquidation rules; a fall in collateral value can put your position at risk.
Can you bridge MONEY between Optimism and Arbitrum?
Yes. Moving MONEY between chains can expose you to bridge, contract and network risks, as well as mistakes selecting a destination network or token contract. Confirm the route and details before signing.
