## What does owning BIBTA actually give you?

BIBTA is a blockchain token designed to track the iShares $ Treasury Bond 1-3yr UCITS ETF, which holds exposure to US Treasury bonds with maturities of one to three years. It is not a US Treasury bond issued directly to you, and holding it is not the same as holding ETF shares in a brokerage account. Backed describes its bTokens as representing ownership of structured products, backed 1:1 by underlying assets held with Swiss third-party custodians and structured as bankruptcy-remote book-entry securities.

The token is intended to bring this ETF exposure onto blockchain networks, where it may be held or used in supported on-chain services. Its value can still move: the ETF’s value, interest rates, currency factors and market liquidity all matter. Backed says bTokens are not affiliated with or licensed by BlackRock, and BlackRock is not responsible for BIBTA. Treat the token’s legal terms and issuer as central to what you own.

## Which networks and wallets can hold BIBTA?

BIBTA is issued on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Avalanche, xDai, BNB Chain and Polygon. It is not the native token of any of these networks. To hold it yourself, use a wallet that supports the specific network where your BIBTA is issued, and check that the wallet can display the token’s correct contract address. A token on one network is not automatically interchangeable with a version on another.

Before sending BIBTA, confirm the receiving wallet supports that exact network and token. Sending it to an incompatible network or address can make it difficult or impossible to recover. Do not rely on a token name or ticker alone: scammers can create lookalike assets. Check contract details through Backed’s official materials, and be cautious about moving the token through bridges or unfamiliar applications. The supported chains do not guarantee that every exchange, wallet or DeFi service accepts BIBTA.

## How much BIBTA exists, and can supply change?

As of 2026-09-17, BIBTA had about 413,968 tokens in circulation and about the same total supply. Backed has not published a maximum supply. The circulating amount can change as tokens are issued or redeemed, so check current figures before relying on them.

The token’s price was about $5.95 and its market capitalization about $2.5 million on that date. These are snapshots, not guarantees of what you could sell for: thin trading or limited liquidity can make the executable price differ from a displayed price. The small market capitalization is also a reason to check whether a trading venue has meaningful order-book depth and what spreads it charges.

BIBTA’s supply and price are not a fixed dollar balance. Its purpose is to track an ETF, and the token’s market price may trade above or below the value implied by its underlying exposure.

## How can you store BIBTA without losing access?

If you keep BIBTA in a self-custody wallet, protect the recovery phrase offline and never share it with anyone claiming to provide support. Use a device and wallet you trust, secure the device with a strong passcode, and consider a hardware wallet if it supports the relevant network and token. A hardware wallet protects signing keys; it does not protect BIBTA’s market value or guarantee recovery if you send it incorrectly.

Before depositing BIBTA with a platform or connecting your wallet to a DeFi app, confirm that the service supports the right chain and contract. Review requested permissions and avoid approving transactions you do not understand. Backed tokens may be used in third-party protocols, but those services add their own smart-contract, custody and liquidation risks. Keep enough of the network’s native asset to pay transaction fees when moving tokens; the fee asset varies by chain.

## What could go wrong if you hold BIBTA?

BIBTA carries several risks beyond the price changes of the Treasury ETF it tracks. Interest-rate moves can affect bond prices, and the token may trade at a discount or premium if trading is limited. You also rely on Backed’s issuance and redemption arrangements, its custodians and the legal structure behind the token. Backed describes the tokens as 1:1 backed, but that does not remove operational, legal or counterparty risk. Backed has not published fee or redemption details here, so check the current terms before acquiring or transferring the token.

There are also network, wallet and smart-contract risks, including lost keys, malicious approvals and transactions sent on the wrong chain. Eligibility is restricted: Backed says it does not sell tokens to US persons or for their account or benefit, and does not market, offer or solicit them in the US or other prohibited jurisdictions. Check your own eligibility and local rules. Do not assume that tokenized ETF exposure is insured like a bank deposit or protected like a brokerage account.
