What can you use ATLAS for in Star Atlas?
ATLAS is the in-game currency associated with Star Atlas, a space-strategy game built around a blockchain-based game economy. It is used to buy game assets, including NFTs through the project’s marketplace. Described uses also include spending on ships, fuel and crafting, although what you can actually access may depend on the game’s current features and availability.
That gives ATLAS a different role from a token used only to pay for network transactions: its intended purpose is tied to activity and assets within Star Atlas. But owning ATLAS does not guarantee that a particular game feature is available, that an item will hold value, or that you can resell an asset when you want. Check the current game and marketplace before acquiring tokens for a specific use. Star Atlas also has a separate token, POLIS; don’t assume it has the same function as ATLAS.
Which chain and wallet do you need for ATLAS?
ATLAS is issued on Solana; it is not listed as the native token of a blockchain. To hold it yourself, use a wallet that supports Solana tokens. A Solana-compatible wallet can also help you connect to supported apps, but check that the wallet and the Star Atlas feature you want to use are compatible before sending funds.
Solana transactions generally require SOL to pay network fees, so holding ATLAS alone may not be enough to move it. Before transferring, confirm the receiving address and the ATLAS token identifier using Star Atlas’s official channels. Token names and symbols can be copied by unrelated assets, so don’t rely on the ticker alone. Start with a small test transfer if you’re unfamiliar with the wallet or destination.
How many ATLAS tokens are there?
ATLAS has a maximum and total supply of 36 billion tokens. About 26.16 billion were circulating as of November 8, 2026. Those figures describe token supply, not the amount available for sale or the value you could recover by selling; market liquidity and demand can change.
The circulating figure can also change over time as tokens enter or leave circulation. Treat supply numbers as a dated snapshot rather than a promise about future distribution. If you’re evaluating ATLAS, check the current figures and consider how the token’s use within Star Atlas relates to demand. A large supply number by itself does not tell you whether a token is affordable, scarce or likely to rise in value.
How can you store ATLAS more safely?
For self-custody, keep your recovery phrase offline and private. Anyone who gets it may be able to control the tokens in that wallet. Use a reputable Solana-compatible wallet, secure the device with a strong passcode, and be wary of messages asking you to connect your wallet or sign an unfamiliar transaction. A transaction signature can authorize more than a simple transfer, so read wallet prompts before approving them.
If you keep ATLAS on a trading platform, you rely on that company to safeguard your balance and allow withdrawals. Check its supported network and withdrawal details before depositing; sending ATLAS through the wrong network or to the wrong address may make recovery difficult or impossible. Never share your recovery phrase with support staff or enter it into a site reached through an unsolicited message.
What could go wrong when you hold or use ATLAS?
ATLAS carries the risks of a volatile cryptoasset and a token linked to a particular game economy. Its market value can fall sharply, and demand may depend on player interest, game access and whether the features that use ATLAS remain available. NFTs bought with ATLAS may be difficult to resell, and ownership of an NFT does not guarantee ongoing access to a game feature or a buyer at a particular price.
You also face ordinary blockchain risks: mistaken transfers, wallet theft, fake tokens and harmful transaction approvals. Before committing funds, check that the current game or marketplace supports the action you want, understand any purchase terms, and decide whether you can afford to lose the amount involved. Don’t treat potential in-game use or rewards as guaranteed income.
