Minterest Review: Can Existing Users Still Withdraw?

Minterest has permanently closed and no longer accepts deposits or pays rewards. Existing users can still withdraw through its smart contracts, but should check the official contract guides and risks before interacting.

SkyBitcoins rating

Quick take

Minterest is permanently closed, so it is not an option for new lending or yield. Its only practical use is for existing users closing positions through smart contracts on Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko or Morph. Before interacting, check the official contract guide for your chain, verify the contract address and transaction details, and account for gas. Minterest reported a roughly $1.4 million Mantle security breach in 2024; an audit listing is not a guarantee that funds are safe.

Is it for you?

Who Minterest suits

Good for

  • Former Minterest users who need to close or withdraw an existing position
  • DeFi researchers looking into Minterest’s lending model and wind-down

Not for

  • Anyone looking to deposit, borrow or earn rewards: those services have ended
  • New DeFi users who need an active app and straightforward customer support
  • Anyone unwilling to manage smart-contract interactions or accept withdrawal risk

Can you still lend or borrow on Minterest?

Minterest was a decentralised lending protocol: users could supply crypto assets to lending markets or borrow against collateral. Its model was designed to capture protocol fees and redistribute value as rewards to users who contributed to governance. MINTY was its protocol token.

That is now historical. Minterest says it has permanently closed, the application interface is unavailable, and new deposits, rewards and token emissions are no longer supported. The protocol is available solely for existing users to close positions. Do not treat old descriptions of lending markets or rewards as current offers, and do not send new funds expecting to use the former app.

If you have an existing position, the project says you can interact with deployed contracts to withdraw. That does not mean every position can be closed in one transaction: your assets, debt and collateral may affect the steps you need to take. Use the guide for your specific chain and position.

What will a Minterest withdrawal cost?

Minterest does not publish current withdrawal fees or limits. Since withdrawals are on-chain, you will generally need the native gas token for the network you use, and the amount depends on network conditions and the transaction. Review the wallet’s fee estimate before confirming; do not assume a withdrawal is free just because the protocol is closed.

The protocol’s former fee-and-reward model is no longer a reason to use it: Minterest says there are no new rewards or emissions. It also does not support new deposits. No active lending rates or reward terms should be relied on for a decision today.

If your position includes borrowing, check the chain-specific contract guide carefully before attempting to withdraw collateral. You may need to address outstanding debt or follow a particular sequence. Minterest does not publish withdrawal limits, and the cost or outcome of an individual contract interaction can depend on your position and the network.

How much should you trust Minterest with old positions?

There are reasons to be cautious. Minterest reported a security breach on its Mantle deployment on July 14, 2024, with a loss of about $1.4 million. The protocol lists two audits, including a Trail of Bits report, and its documentation says its contracts are verified. Those checks can help users inspect code, but they do not prevent every exploit or guarantee that funds can be recovered.

Minterest describes its wind-down as orderly and says deployed assets remain secure. That is not a guarantee about the safety or recoverability of any particular position. The application is closed, so you should rely on the chain-specific contract guide and verify the contract address independently before interacting. Do not sign a transaction you cannot understand.

Minterest does not publish a licence or KYC requirements. With the service closed, the practical question is whether you can safely manage the contract interaction, not whether you can open a new account.

How do you access an existing position now?

The Minterest app is no longer available. Existing users are directed to contract interaction guides for Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko and Morph. You will need a wallet connected to the chain holding your position, and enough of that chain’s native token to pay transaction gas. Confirm you are on the correct network before interacting.

Contract withdrawals are less forgiving than using a normal app: you must select the correct contract and method, and a submitted transaction may not be reversible. Read the guide for your exact chain and position from beginning to end. Check the wallet’s destination, token amounts and fee estimate before signing. If you are uncertain about a transaction, pause and seek qualified help rather than guessing.

The project says its website and documentation are maintained for historical and reference purposes. That makes it especially important to check that you are following the current official withdrawal instructions and not an old tutorial or an imitation site.

Who should avoid Minterest?

Minterest is not suitable for anyone seeking an active lending app, current yield, new borrowing or MINTY rewards. Those functions have ended. Its closure also means there is no ordinary app flow for new users, and the contract-based withdrawal route requires care and a basic understanding of wallets, networks and transaction signing.

Former users should treat withdrawal as a risk-management task, not an opportunity to add funds or chase rewards. The reported Mantle breach, lack of published withdrawal limits and uncertainty around individual positions all argue for checking each step closely. Keep a record of your wallet address, chain and transaction hashes, and never share a seed phrase or private key with anyone offering to help.

If you are new to DeFi or cannot confidently verify the contract and transaction, do not experiment with funds. Minterest’s closure means there is no new-user product to weigh against alternatives; people looking for lending should choose an operating protocol and assess its current terms and risks separately.

5 steps

How to start with Minterest

  1. 1

Use Minterest’s official contract interaction guide for the chain where your position is held: Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko or Morph.

  2. 2

Check your wallet and position details, including any outstanding borrowing, and follow the guide’s sequence for your specific position.

  3. 3

Verify the contract address and network against the official guide before connecting or signing; never share your seed phrase or private key.

  4. 4

Keep enough of the chain’s native token for gas, then review the transaction method, destination and fee estimate before confirming.

  5. 5

Confirm the transaction on the correct network and check your resulting balances before attempting any further contract interaction.

Minterest FAQs

Is Minterest still open?

No. Minterest says its application UI is no longer available and the protocol is permanently closed. New deposits, rewards and emissions are no longer supported.

Can existing Minterest users withdraw?

Existing users can withdraw positions directly through smart contracts on Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko and Morph. Follow the contract interaction guide for the relevant chain and confirm the contract addresses before signing anything.

What does it cost to withdraw from Minterest?

Minterest does not publish withdrawal fees or limits. You should expect to pay the relevant network's gas fee for an on-chain transaction; check the transaction details before confirming.

Was Minterest audited, and has it had a security incident?

Minterest reported a security breach on its Mantle deployment on July 14, 2024, with a loss of about $1.4 million. Two audits are listed, but audits do not eliminate smart-contract risk, and the project’s closure adds uncertainty for users managing old positions.

Does Minterest require KYC?

Minterest does not publish KYC requirements. Since the app is closed, that is not a reason to expect ordinary sign-up or deposit access; withdrawals are for existing users through the contracts.
