What can you use WAVES for?
WAVES is the native token of the Waves blockchain. You can use it to pay for activity on the network, including transactions and interactions with applications built on Waves. The network is a proof-of-stake blockchain designed for applications and other decentralized projects.
WAVES can also be used in the network’s proof-of-stake system. Waves has supported leasing, which lets holders delegate their tokens to a node without sending the tokens out of their wallet. Check the current network rules and wallet options before doing this: leasing can involve different risks from simply holding WAVES, and it does not guarantee a return.
If you are deciding whether WAVES fits your needs, focus on whether you intend to use Waves applications or make transactions on its network. A token’s past price movement alone does not tell you whether the network will suit your plans.
Which WAVES chain and wallet should you use?
WAVES is native to the Waves blockchain, and a WAVES token is also issued on Ethereum. These are different network versions. A wallet address or exchange deposit option for one chain may not work for the other, even when both assets use the WAVES ticker.
Before sending tokens, check the network shown by both the sending wallet and the receiving service. Use a wallet that explicitly supports the chain your tokens are on, and confirm that the receiving address accepts that same network. If you hold the Ethereum-issued version, make sure the wallet or service supports that specific token rather than assuming that support for native WAVES is enough.
Wallet support can change. Check the wallet provider’s current network and asset support before moving funds, and make a small test transfer first when practical. Keep enough of the relevant network’s fee token available to make transactions; the token needed for fees can differ by chain.
How much WAVES exists, and is supply capped?
The reported circulating and total supply of WAVES is 100 million as of November 8, 2026. No maximum supply is listed, so the reported total should not be treated as proof of a permanent supply cap. Token supply can change if network rules allow issuance or other adjustments.
As a dated market snapshot, WAVES traded at about $0.22, with a market capitalization of about $22.1 million on November 8, 2026. Those figures can change quickly and do not indicate what the token may be worth later. WAVES has had substantial price swings: its reported all-time high was about $61.30 on March 31, 2022, and its reported all-time low was about $0.13 on August 1, 2016.
If you are checking a balance or comparing supply figures, verify the chain and date. Native WAVES and the Ethereum-issued version can be tracked separately, and market figures are snapshots rather than guarantees of liquidity or sale value.
How can you store WAVES more safely?
For self-custody, use a wallet that supports the exact WAVES network you hold. Back up the recovery phrase offline, keep it private, and do not enter it into a website or share it with someone claiming they need it to release or secure your tokens. Anyone with the phrase may be able to control the wallet.
Use a strong device passcode and enable additional wallet protections where available. Be cautious with browser extensions, fake wallet apps, unsolicited support messages, and links asking you to connect your wallet or approve a transaction. Review transaction details before signing, especially when an application asks for permissions or a token transfer.
If you keep WAVES with an exchange or custodian, check its supported network, withdrawal process, and account-security options. Custodial storage means you rely on that provider to safeguard and return the assets. Hardware-wallet support is not universal, so confirm the device’s current compatibility before transferring funds.
What could go wrong when you hold WAVES?
WAVES carries the usual risks of a volatile crypto asset, including sharp price changes and the possibility that you cannot sell at the price you expect. Its market activity can be limited, and a quoted market price does not guarantee that a large order can be filled without affecting the price.
There are also network and custody risks. A Waves outage or technical problem could affect native-token transfers or applications, while an Ethereum-issued token has separate smart-contract and Ethereum-network risks. Sending to an unsupported chain or address can make recovery difficult or impossible. Staking or leasing introduces additional reliance on network rules and the node or service you choose.
Do not treat a past high, a supply figure, or a staking option as a promise of future value or income. Before using an application or moving tokens, check which chain it uses, what permissions you are granting, and how you would recover access if your wallet or provider becomes unavailable.
By the numbers
Waves in numbers
Waves (WAVES) is ranked #773 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $22.1M and a price of $0.2207 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($22.1M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 1.5% over 7 days, down 16.4% over 30 days, down 68.9% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $61.30, set on Mar 31, 2022.
About 100M WAVES are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
24-hour trading volume was about $1.51M, or 6.9% of its market cap: moderate turnover.
WAVES is the native token of Waves; it also has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

WAVES FAQs
What is WAVES used for?
WAVES is the native token of the Waves blockchain. It is used for network activity such as transactions and can participate in the network’s proof-of-stake system.
Is WAVES available on Ethereum?
WAVES is native to the Waves blockchain, and a WAVES token is also issued on Ethereum. They are not automatically interchangeable, so check the network before sending or receiving tokens.
What is the total supply of WAVES?
The reported circulating and total supply is 100 million as of November 8, 2026. No maximum supply is listed, so this figure should not be read as a fixed cap.
Which wallet can hold WAVES?
Choose a wallet that explicitly supports the chain your WAVES is on. Confirm the network and receiving address before a transfer, and keep your recovery phrase offline and private.
Can you stake or lease WAVES?
Waves has supported leasing WAVES to a node as part of its proof-of-stake system. Check the current rules and risks before using this feature; leasing does not guarantee income.
What is the market cap of Waves?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Waves had a market cap of about $22.1M, ranking #773 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of WAVES?
Waves's all-time high is $61.30, reached on Mar 31, 2022. Its all-time low is $0.1309 (Aug 1, 2016). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of WAVES?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 100M WAVES were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.
Which blockchains is WAVES on?
WAVES is the native token of Waves. It has token contracts on Ethereum.
