What does holding VTHO let you do?

VTHO gives you the token used to pay for transactions on VeChainThor, VeChain’s EVM-compatible blockchain. You need it when you send supported assets or use a smart contract on the network. Holding VTHO can therefore be useful if you expect to make transactions there; it does not give you ownership in VeChain or automatically earn rewards.

VeChain separates network use from its other token, VET. VET is the network’s native staking asset, while VTHO covers transaction costs. That dual-token setup is intended to separate the cost of using the network from VET’s market price, though the fiat value of the VTHO you spend can still change.

If you only hold VTHO and do not use VeChainThor, its main practical use may be limited to transferring or trading it where supported. VTHO is not a general-purpose fee token for every blockchain: you need the right network and a compatible wallet or service.

Which network and wallets support VTHO?

VTHO is issued on VeChain and used on VeChainThor. The token facts identify VeChain as its issued chain and do not list other chains where VTHO is native. Before you deposit or send it, check that the receiving wallet or service supports VTHO on VeChainThor specifically; a wallet that supports other EVM networks may not support this network.

You can keep VTHO in a wallet that supports VeChainThor, or with a service that accepts deposits of VTHO on that network. Confirm the network shown on both sides before transferring. If an exchange or wallet displays multiple deposit networks, select the VeChain option that matches the sender. A mismatch can leave funds inaccessible or require complicated recovery.

Keep your recovery phrase or private keys secure if you use self-custody, and never share them to receive a transfer. Availability of particular wallets and services can change, so check their current network support rather than assuming that every VeChain-compatible product handles VTHO.

How does VTHO supply change?

VTHO has no fixed maximum supply stated in the token facts. As of November 8, 2026, about 104.37 billion VTHO was circulating, against a total supply of about 104.37 billion. Supply can change as tokens are generated or otherwise removed from circulation, so these figures are a dated snapshot, not a permanent count.

Since the Hayabusa upgrade in December 2025, new VTHO is generated only through actively staked VET. VTHO itself is not the staking asset in this model: VET is. Simply holding VTHO does not, on its own, qualify you to generate more. Check the current VeChain staking rules before relying on any expected generation, since participation requirements can change.

Network activity also matters to VTHO’s role: users spend it to pay for transactions and smart-contract execution. That use does not guarantee that demand, token supply or market value will move in any particular direction. As of November 8, 2026, VTHO’s reported market price was about $0.00052; treat any price or market-cap figure as time-sensitive.

How can you get and store VTHO?

People generally obtain VTHO through a service that supports the token, such as a crypto exchange, or receive it in a transfer from another holder. Availability, identity checks and payment methods vary by provider and location. This guide does not recommend a particular way to acquire it; check the provider’s terms, fees and local rules before using its services.

For self-custody, choose a wallet that explicitly supports VeChainThor and VTHO. Set it up using the wallet maker’s official app or software, then store the recovery phrase offline in a secure place. Anyone with that phrase may be able to control the wallet’s assets. A custodial service may handle keys for you, but you depend on that service to maintain access and process withdrawals.

Before moving a large balance, verify the destination address and network, and consider a small test transfer if practical. Do not send VTHO to an address on a different network just because the address format looks familiar. Also check whether the service supports withdrawals of VTHO on VeChainThor, rather than only displaying a VTHO balance.

What does it cost to move VTHO?

Sending VTHO on VeChainThor requires VTHO for network fees. The amount depends on the transaction and the network’s fee rules; fees can differ between a simple token transfer and a smart-contract interaction. VeChain does not publish a single fixed fee in the token facts, so check the wallet’s transaction estimate before you confirm. The fee’s dollar value also changes with VTHO’s market price.

A transfer through a centralized service may have a separate withdrawal charge set by that service. Moving VTHO between networks through a bridge, if a supported route is available, can involve bridge charges as well as transaction fees on the source and destination networks. Bridge availability and fees can change, and the token facts do not identify a particular supported bridge.

Do not assume that a wrapped or bridged VTHO token is interchangeable with VTHO on VeChainThor. Verify the destination network and the receiving service’s deposit rules first. A transaction sent to an unsupported network or address may not be recoverable.

What risks should VTHO holders watch for?

VTHO’s main practical risk is that it is tied to use of VeChainThor. If you do not need to pay for transactions there, its utility to you may be limited. Its market value can also rise or fall, and past price levels do not indicate what it will be worth later. As of November 8, 2026, the token’s reported price was about $0.00052, but that figure can quickly become outdated.

There are also network and custody risks. Sending VTHO through the wrong network, entering an incorrect address, losing a self-custody recovery phrase or trusting a fraudulent service can result in lost funds. A bridge adds another point of failure, including possible technical or operational issues. Check wallet support, addresses and transaction details before confirming a transfer.

VTHO generation is linked to actively staked VET under the rules introduced with Hayabusa in December 2025. Do not assume that holding VTHO produces rewards. Review current staking requirements and understand any lockups or other conditions before committing VET.

How has VTHO’s role changed over time?

VTHO is part of VeChain’s two-token design, alongside VET. Its role is to pay for transactions and smart-contract execution on VeChainThor, while VET is the network’s native staking asset. The token’s recorded all-time high was about $0.0467 on August 28, 2018, and its recorded all-time low was about $0.000152 on March 16, 2020. Those historical figures are not a guide to future prices.

A major change to generation came with the Hayabusa upgrade in December 2025: new VTHO is generated only through actively staked VET. This makes the staking rules relevant even if your immediate interest is VTHO, but it does not make VTHO itself the staking asset. Check VeChain’s current network documentation for up-to-date rules and wallet compatibility before acting.

The project description identifies VeChainThor as EVM-compatible, but that does not mean every Ethereum wallet, application or bridge automatically supports VTHO. Confirm support for the specific network and token wherever you plan to hold, send or use it.

By the numbers

VeThor in numbers

VeThor (VTHO) is ranked #414 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $54.2M and a price of $0.0005191 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($54.2M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 8.6% over 7 days, down 21.1% over 30 days, down 57.1% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $0.0467, set on Aug 28, 2018.

About 104.37B VTHO are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $782K, or 1.4% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

VTHO has token contracts on Vechain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
