Owning SYS: Uses, Networks and Storage Risks
SYS pays fees across Syscoin’s network, but using it safely means distinguishing its UTXO, NEVM and Rollux environments. Check chain support, supply and liquidity before moving or holding it.

What do you use SYS for?
SYS is Syscoin’s native coin. You use it to pay transaction fees across the ecosystem, and it also helps incentivize miners supporting Syscoin. Syscoin combines a Bitcoin-derived proof-of-work network with an Ethereum-compatible smart-contract environment; its hashing algorithm is SHA-256.
The network has a UTXO chain and a Network Enhanced Virtual Machine (NEVM) chain at Layer 1, plus Rollux, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 rollup. That means SYS can have practical uses beyond holding or transferring value, but the exact fee and asset format depend on which part of the network you use. Syscoin describes transaction fees as subject to burning, which can reduce the amount of SYS in circulation over time; that does not guarantee scarcity or a higher price.
Before moving SYS, check which network the receiving wallet or exchange supports. A token with the same ticker on a different network may not be interchangeable without the correct bridge.
Which SYS network should your wallet use?
Syscoin has more than one network environment, so choosing the right chain matters when you send or receive assets. SYS is the native UTXO-based coin. Syscoin also identifies SYSX as its native ERC-style token on NEVM, with a bridge between the UTXO and NEVM sides. Rollux is a separate Layer 2 environment built for Ethereum-compatible applications.
A wallet or exchange that supports SYS on one network may not support it on another. Before sending, confirm the exact network and asset name on both sides, and check whether the destination accepts deposits from that network. Do not rely on the ticker alone. If you are using a bridge, confirm the source and destination networks and follow the current official process; a mistaken network selection or unsupported deposit can leave funds inaccessible.
The token facts here do not establish which specific wallets currently support each Syscoin network. Check the wallet’s current network list and recovery process before transferring a meaningful amount. For a first transfer, consider a small test transaction if fees make that practical.
How much SYS exists, and how liquid is it?
SYS has no published maximum supply in the token figures reported for November 8, 2026. The reported circulating supply was about 923.16 million SYS, and total supply was also about 923.16 million. These figures can change, so treat them as a dated snapshot rather than a fixed count. Fee burning may affect supply over time, but it does not establish a hard cap.
On that date, SYS traded at about $0.00235, with a reported market capitalization of roughly $2.2 million and 24-hour trading volume around $496. Those are approximate, time-sensitive figures. The low reported volume is especially relevant if you may need to sell or move a large holding: a small market can have wider spreads and limited liquidity, and the displayed price may not be available for your order.
A token’s supply and market value do not tell you whether you can withdraw it from a particular exchange or which network the exchange supports. Check those details before buying or transferring SYS, and avoid relying on a quoted price as a guaranteed exit value.
What can go wrong when you store or move SYS?
Your main custody risks are sending SYS on the wrong network, using an unsupported wallet, losing your recovery phrase, or signing a harmful transaction. Bridges add another point of failure: the source and destination networks must match the transfer you intend, and bridge security is separate from keeping a recovery phrase safe. Syscoin’s use of proof of work does not protect you from mistakes in your own wallet or from a compromised device.
If you self-custody, use a wallet that explicitly supports the relevant Syscoin network. Keep your recovery phrase offline, never share it, and test your backup before relying on it. A hardware wallet can reduce exposure to malware when used correctly, but it cannot verify that you chose the right network or recipient. For exchange custody, confirm deposit and withdrawal support for the exact asset and chain; exchange balances are also subject to the platform’s operational and access risks.
Syscoin’s token figures show very low reported trading volume as of November 8, 2026. That can make a sale or transfer harder than the quoted price suggests. Only hold an amount you can afford to lose, and do not treat past prices or a potential fee burn as a promise of future value.
By the numbers
Syscoin in numbers
Syscoin (SYS) is ranked #2,307 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $2.17M and a price of $0.002346 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($2.17M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 8.5% over 7 days, up 19.9% over 30 days, down 92.8% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $1.30, set on Jan 1, 2022.
About 923.16M SYS are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
24-hour trading volume was about $496, or 0.0% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
CoinGecko groups SYS under Layer 1 tokens, Layer 2 tokens, Zero-knowledge (ZK) tokens.

SYS FAQs
What is SYS used for?
SYS is Syscoin’s native coin and is used for transaction fees and to incentivize miners supporting the network. Syscoin also identifies SYSX as its native ERC-style token on NEVM, so check the asset and network before sending.
Does SYS have a maximum supply?
No maximum supply is listed in the reported token figures. Circulating and total supply were each about 923.16 million SYS as of November 8, 2026; supply figures can change.
Which blockchain is SYS on?
Syscoin has a UTXO chain and an NEVM chain at Layer 1, as well as the Rollux Layer 2. Wallet and exchange support can differ, so verify the exact network before depositing or withdrawing.
What is the difference between SYS and SYSX?
Syscoin identifies SYS as its native UTXO-based coin and SYSX as its native ERC-style token on NEVM, with a bridge between those environments. Do not assume the two formats can be sent directly to the same address; follow the correct network and bridge instructions.
Is SYS safe to hold?
Syscoin uses SHA-256 proof of work, but that does not eliminate wallet, bridge, network-selection or market-liquidity risks. Protect your recovery phrase and confirm the exact chain and recipient before signing or sending.
What is the market cap of Syscoin?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Syscoin had a market cap of about $2.17M, ranking #2,307 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of SYS?
Syscoin's all-time high is $1.30, reached on Jan 1, 2022. Its all-time low is $0.0002097 (Feb 21, 2015). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of SYS?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 923.16M SYS were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.
