Owning SURPLUS: Uses, Storage and Risks

Surplus Intelligence describes its product as a free market for AI inference on Base, where buyers can access model-computing capacity and providers can sell unused capacity. That describes the project’s service, but it does not establish what SURPLUS does within it. Surplus Intelligence has not published a clear explanation of the token’s specific functions, such as whether it is needed for payments, access, governance or rewards.

For you as a holder, keep the distinction clear: an AI-inference marketplace does not automatically give its associated token a role in buying or selling inference. Before relying on SURPLUS for a product feature, check whether the project has documented that feature and whether it is live. Without that confirmation, treat the token’s practical uses as uncertain rather than assuming that demand for AI computing creates demand for SURPLUS.

SURPLUS is issued on Base; the project information does not identify it as the native token of a blockchain. Base is an Ethereum layer-2 network, so you need a wallet that supports Base assets to receive or hold the token.
