What does holding QCAD actually mean?

QCAD is a Canadian-dollar stablecoin issued by Stablecorp. It is designed to track CAD at one QCAD to one Canadian dollar, with reserves held at regulated Canadian financial institutions under a dedicated trust. Stablecorp says the reserves are third-party audited and that monthly attestation reports are publicly available. These arrangements are intended to support the peg; they do not make QCAD the same as a bank deposit or guarantee that you can always exchange it for CAD immediately.

You may encounter QCAD for digital payments or to move Canadian-dollar value between crypto services. It can also be used to facilitate trading, borrowing or lending involving other crypto assets. Check that a platform supports the exact QCAD network you hold: a token on one network may not be accepted by a service configured for another.

QCAD is not a native coin used to secure a blockchain. It is issued on Ethereum, Base and Arc. Its value is meant to follow the Canadian dollar, not the US dollar, so its USD price can change as the CAD/USD exchange rate changes.

Which networks and wallets can you use?

QCAD is issued on Ethereum, Base and Arc. Before you receive or send it, confirm the network with the other person or service and make sure your wallet supports QCAD on that specific chain. A deposit sent on an unsupported network may not arrive as usable funds, and recovery can be difficult or impossible.

On Ethereum and Base, you generally need the network’s native token to pay transaction fees. Fees can vary with network activity. Arc may have different transaction requirements, so check its wallet and fee arrangements rather than assuming Ethereum rules apply. Stablecorp does not publish a maximum supply in the token details here; the reported total and circulating supply are both about 2.48 million QCAD as of 2026-11-08.

If you add QCAD to a wallet manually, verify its official token contract and network using a trusted Stablecorp channel before importing it. A matching name or ticker alone does not prove that a token is genuine. Do a small test transfer first when practical, especially if you are moving a meaningful amount.

How should you check the peg and cash-out options?

Stablecorp describes QCAD as fully backed one-to-one by Canadian-dollar reserves. The practical check is whether the reserve information and monthly attestations are current and clear about what they cover. An attestation is a report about reserves at a point in time; it is not a promise that every holder can redeem instantly or at no cost.

The market figures can help you judge trading conditions, but they are not a redemption guarantee. As of 2026-11-08, QCAD’s reported market capitalisation was about US$1.8 million and its 24-hour trading volume was about US$3,900. That relatively small volume can mean fewer available buyers or sellers on some venues and a wider spread. The reported price was about US$0.71, which is not by itself evidence of a CAD-peg failure: QCAD tracks CAD, and the CAD/USD exchange rate affects its dollar-denominated quote.

Stablecorp does not publish redemption fees, minimums or a guaranteed processing time in the token details here. If you need to convert to bank-held CAD, check the issuer’s current eligibility and redemption terms before relying on QCAD for a payment or deadline.

How can you store QCAD without overlooking the risks?

Keep QCAD in a wallet that supports its network and that you can access securely. For a self-custody wallet, back up the recovery phrase offline, keep it private, and never enter it into a website or share it with someone claiming to offer support. Consider a hardware wallet if you are holding an amount that would be costly to lose, and test your backup and a small transfer before moving more.

If you hold QCAD on an exchange or other service, the provider controls the keys and may impose its own withdrawal rules, fees or downtime. Check the withdrawal network before sending. Do not assume an exchange balance can be moved directly to any QCAD address.

QCAD still carries issuer and reserve risk: the peg depends on the reserve structure, operations and ability to meet redemptions. It also carries market-liquidity, smart-contract, wallet, network and custodian risks. A stablecoin can trade below or above its target, and a lost key or mistaken transfer may be irreversible. Avoid treating a CAD peg as protection against every kind of loss.
