Owning SRM: Uses, Storage and Risks
SRM was built for the Serum DEX, but the protocol’s history makes its present-day utility uncertain. Check the network, wallet support and liquidity before relying on the token.

What was SRM designed to do?
Serum (SRM) was designed for use in Serum, a Solana-based decentralized exchange protocol with an on-chain order book. SRM was associated with fee discounts, governance and staking in the Serum ecosystem. Those were intended uses, not a guarantee of benefits you can claim today.
After FTX’s collapse, Serum’s upgrade authority was considered compromised, and Solana developers moved to OpenBook, a community fork. That history matters if you are holding SRM: do not assume the original exchange, governance process or token perks remain active. Check whether the specific app or service you want to use currently supports SRM and explains the terms. Serum does not publish a current schedule of SRM fee discounts or staking rewards. Treat older descriptions of those features as historical unless you can confirm they are currently available.
Which network should you use for SRM?
SRM is not the native token of a blockchain. It has been issued on Solana, Ethereum and Viction, so the network matters whenever you send or receive it. Your wallet and the receiving platform must support the same SRM version and chain; a token sent on the wrong network may not arrive in a form the recipient can use.
Before transferring, check the network selected in both the sending wallet and receiving service, then confirm the token address or other identifier with the recipient. Do not rely on the ticker alone, since different assets can share a symbol. Solana transactions generally need SOL for network fees, while Ethereum transactions generally need ETH. Fee tokens and transaction costs depend on the network and current conditions. If you are unsure which SRM version you hold, make a small test transfer only if the fees and the recipient’s instructions make that practical.
How much SRM is circulating?
As of 2026-11-08, about 372.8 million SRM were reported as circulating. Total supply was about 9.99 billion, with a maximum supply of 10 billion. These figures describe different supply measures: circulating supply is the portion counted as available in the market, while total supply includes tokens not counted as circulating. They do not tell you when or whether the remaining tokens may enter circulation.
SRM’s market figures also point to a thin market. As of 2026-11-08, its reported market capitalization was about $1.9 million and 24-hour trading volume was about $3,300. These amounts can change quickly, and low trading volume can make it harder to trade at a price close to the displayed quote. Check current supply and trading conditions before making a transaction; neither a quoted price nor a market-cap figure guarantees that you can sell at that value.
How can you store SRM safely?
You can store SRM in a self-custody wallet only if that wallet supports the network version you hold. Confirm support for Solana, Ethereum or Viction specifically, and check that the wallet can display or manage the token rather than only the network’s main coin. Hardware wallets can keep private keys offline, but they still depend on compatible wallet software and careful transaction checks.
For self-custody, keep your recovery phrase offline in a secure place and never share it with anyone claiming to offer support or token rewards. A wallet provider should not need your phrase to troubleshoot a transfer. If you hold SRM on a custodial exchange, the platform controls the keys and may restrict deposits, withdrawals or trading; check its current SRM support and withdrawal network before relying on it. Test unfamiliar transfer routes with a small amount when appropriate, while accounting for network fees.
What risks come with holding SRM?
SRM carries project, market and transaction risks. Serum’s original ecosystem was disrupted after FTX’s collapse, and the move by developers to OpenBook means the old protocol’s continuing role should not be assumed. Historical references to SRM governance, staking or fee reductions may not describe a benefit currently available to you. Confirm the status of any service before connecting a wallet or approving a transaction.
The token’s reported trading volume was low as of 2026-11-08, which can mean limited liquidity, wider spreads or difficulty exiting a position at a quoted price. Large differences between circulating and total supply are another reason to monitor token availability rather than relying on a single supply figure. On-chain risks include sending funds on the wrong network, approving a malicious transaction, losing your recovery phrase or relying on an unsupported bridge. There is no guaranteed resale price, and a token can lose most or all of its value.
By the numbers
Serum in numbers
Serum (SRM) is ranked #2,408 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.93M and a price of $0.005177 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $51.7M, so roughly 4% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was up 4.9% over 7 days, down 20.6% over 30 days, down 41.2% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $13.78, set on Sep 10, 2021.
About 372.78M SRM are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 10B (4% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $3.31K, or 0.2% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
SRM has token contracts on 3 chains we track, including Ethereum, Viction, Solana. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

SRM FAQs
What is Serum (SRM) used for?
SRM was designed for use in Serum, a Solana-based decentralized exchange ecosystem. Its historical roles included fee discounts, governance and staking, but you should verify that any claimed feature is currently active before depending on it.
Which blockchains support SRM?
SRM has been issued on Solana, Ethereum and Viction. Confirm the exact network and token version supported by your wallet or recipient before sending it.
How many SRM tokens are there?
As of 2026-11-08, about 372.8 million SRM were reported as circulating, against a total supply of about 9.99 billion and a maximum supply of 10 billion. Supply figures can change, so check current data before acting on them.
How do you store SRM?
Choose a wallet that supports the specific SRM network you hold, and keep your recovery phrase offline. Check network details carefully before transfers, and never share your recovery phrase to claim rewards or get support.
Is the Serum DEX still active?
Serum’s original ecosystem was disrupted after FTX’s collapse, and developers moved to OpenBook. That makes it important to verify current SRM support and not assume historical discounts, staking or governance are still available.
What is the market cap of Serum?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Serum had a market cap of about $1.93M, ranking #2,408 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of SRM?
Serum's all-time high is $13.78, reached on Sep 10, 2021. Its all-time low is $0.0001671 (Jul 16, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of SRM?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 372.78M SRM were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 10B.
Which blockchains is SRM on?
It has token contracts on Ethereum, Viction, Solana.
