## What do you get by holding MEX?
MEX is the utility and governance token for xExchange, a decentralized exchange on MultiversX. Holding MEX is relevant if you want to take part in exchange governance or use features tied to the platform. Proposals can concern the exchange’s operation, listings and development; owning tokens does not guarantee that a proposal will pass or that you will receive a reward.
xMEX is a time-locked form of MEX described by the project. It cannot be traded while locked, and some exchange rewards and fees are distributed as locked xMEX. That is different from holding freely transferable MEX: check the lock terms and how to unlock before committing tokens. Search results also describe possible trading-fee reductions for MEX or xMEX holders, but xExchange does not publish its current fee schedule. Confirm any discount and the conditions for qualifying in the app before making a trade.
## Which wallets and network can hold MEX?
MEX is issued on MultiversX; it is not listed as the native token of a blockchain. To hold or transfer it, use a wallet that supports MultiversX assets and confirm that you are viewing the correct MEX token before sending funds. A wallet displaying the same ticker on another network may contain an unrelated token.
For an xExchange trade, connect a compatible wallet and review the transaction details before approving it. A decentralized exchange generally does not take custody of your assets in the way a centralized exchange does: you remain responsible for your wallet and authorize transactions yourself. This does not remove smart-contract or transaction risks.
Before transferring MEX, check the destination network, token identity and receiving address. A test transfer can help you catch an address or network mistake, but it does not prove a wallet or contract is safe. Never share your recovery phrase, and do not approve a wallet prompt you did not initiate.
## How much MEX is there, and what can a trade cost?
The reported circulating and total supply is about 4.08 trillion MEX, with no maximum supply listed. The figures are dated November 8, 2026; token supply and market measures can change, so check current on-chain information before relying on them. A large number of tokens per unit does not, by itself, indicate whether a token is cheap or valuable.
As of that date, MEX’s market capitalization was about $1.9 million and 24-hour trading volume about $1,650. That small reported volume can mean fewer buyers or sellers are available at a given moment. A market order may execute at a less favorable price than you expect, especially if the order is large compared with the available liquidity. Check the price impact and expected output in the swap screen before confirming.
xExchange does not publish its current trading fees. Your actual transaction may also involve network costs, and the displayed quote can change before it is confirmed. Review all costs and the final amount you will receive before signing.
## How can you store MEX more safely?
Store MEX in a MultiversX-compatible wallet you control if you want direct control of the tokens. Keep your recovery phrase offline in a secure place, never enter it into a website or message, and consider a hardware wallet if it supports the asset and fits your needs. A recovery phrase gives control of the wallet; anyone who obtains it may be able to move your tokens.
For exchange use, connect only to the xExchange app you have independently verified. Check the domain carefully rather than trusting search ads, unsolicited messages or social posts. Review each wallet permission and transaction: signing a transaction can move tokens or grant a contract permission to use them. Revoke allowances you no longer need using a trusted wallet tool, and beware of fake support agents asking you to “verify” a wallet.
If you use a custodial service instead, check its withdrawal rules and security practices. You may depend on that provider to safeguard your tokens and process withdrawals.
## What could go wrong when you hold or use MEX?
MEX carries market risk: its reported price had fallen about 69.7% over the year to November 8, 2026, and its market may be thinly traded. A low price per token does not prevent further losses. Avoid relying on a past high, a quoted market cap or a displayed reward as a promise of future value.
Using xExchange adds protocol risks. Smart-contract bugs, exploits, network issues or changes to the exchange can affect swaps, liquidity positions and rewards. Non-custodial use means you are responsible for signing transactions correctly; mistaken transfers and malicious approvals may be difficult or impossible to reverse. xExchange does not publish its fees, and its audit and custody details remain unresolved, so do not assume that trading or providing liquidity is risk-free.
Only commit funds you can afford to lose. Before using a pool or locking MEX as xMEX, understand the lock conditions, possible loss from token-price changes and how you can exit.
By the numbers
xExchange in numbers
xExchange (MEX) is ranked #2,441 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.86M and a price of $0.0000004581 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($1.86M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 10.7% over 7 days, down 24.0% over 30 days, down 69.7% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $0.001001, set on Dec 1, 2021.
About 4.08T MEX are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
24-hour trading volume was about $1.65K, or 0.1% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
MEX has token contracts on MultiversX. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
