Owning REZ: Uses, Chains and Risks

REZ is Renzo’s governance token, while Renzo’s products are used to access liquid restaking and onchain yield strategies. The distinction matters: holding REZ does not automatically deposit your assets into a strategy or earn its yield. REZ holders may vote on proposals about the protocol, but voting rights do not guarantee that a proposal will pass or give you control over how a strategy performs.

Renzo’s product range includes liquid restaking and strategy vaults. Its Renzo Basis product runs on Hyperliquid and pairs a spot purchase with an equal-sized short perpetual position on the same asset. The aim is to offset price movements between those positions; potential yield comes from funding payments, which can change or turn against the strategy. That product’s mechanics are separate from REZ’s governance role. Check the terms of the specific Renzo product you plan to use rather than assuming that holding the token gives you access to it.

REZ has been issued on Ethereum, Solana and Base. It is not described as the native token of any of those networks, so choosing the right network matters when you transfer or store it. A wallet that supports one chain may not support another, and sending tokens to an incompatible network or address can make them difficult or impossible to recover.

Before receiving REZ, confirm which network the sender or exchange is using and that your wallet supports that network and token format. Check the official Renzo channels for the canonical token address or Solana mint; do not rely on a token name or symbol alone, since impersonators can copy them. If you withdraw from an exchange, make sure its selected network matches the receiving wallet. A small test transfer can help you catch a network or address mistake before sending a larger amount, though it does not remove all transfer risks.

REZ has a maximum supply of 10 billion tokens. As of November 8, 2026, about 9.27 billion were circulating and about 9.81 billion were listed as total supply. The difference between circulating and total supply means some tokens were not counted as circulating at that point; it does not, by itself, explain when or how any remaining tokens may enter circulation.

A capped maximum supply does not guarantee that the token’s market value will rise or remain stable. Changes in demand, governance, token distribution and broader crypto-market conditions can all affect the price. Before making a decision, look at current circulating supply and any published information about unlocks or distributions, since token figures can change. These supply numbers are a dated snapshot, not a promise about future availability or value.

For a small balance you expect to use, a reputable software wallet can be convenient; for longer-term storage, a hardware wallet can keep signing keys offline. Either way, use a wallet that supports the specific chain holding your REZ, and keep your recovery phrase offline in a secure place. Never share it with anyone claiming they need it to verify, migrate or unlock your tokens.

Use a separate wallet for experimenting with unfamiliar apps, and check the network, recipient address and transaction details before approving. A token balance can be visible in a wallet even when the wallet cannot display or send that token correctly. If you interact with a Renzo strategy, check exactly what permissions and transactions you are approving. Keep your wallet software and device protected, and consider how you would recover access if your device were lost or damaged.

REZ can lose value, and governance-token ownership does not guarantee income, voting influence or a claim on Renzo’s assets. Liquid restaking and strategy products have additional risks: smart-contract bugs, validator or protocol failures, market disruptions and changes in withdrawal or redemption conditions. A liquid token or position may also trade below the value you expect to recover, especially when markets are stressed.

Renzo Basis has a distinct risk profile. Its paired spot and perpetual positions are intended to offset price moves, but funding rates can change, and leverage, execution or platform issues can affect results. Do not treat a target strategy or past yield as a guaranteed return. Before depositing, check the product’s current fees, audit status, supported assets, withdrawal process and any lockups. Only commit funds you can afford to lose, and remember that using a strategy is separate from simply holding REZ.
