What can you use OSMO for?
OSMO is the native token of Osmosis, a decentralized exchange and cross-chain DeFi hub in the Cosmos ecosystem. You can use it for Osmosis network fees and governance, and you may encounter it in trading and liquidity pools. A pool is not a savings account: providing liquidity exposes you to changes in the prices of the assets in the pool, and you can end up with less value than if you had simply held those assets.
Osmosis connects with other chains, including through the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol. It also supports trading assets from outside Cosmos, but the route and asset representation matter. Before swapping or adding liquidity, check which tokens you will receive, the transaction fee, and any pool-specific conditions. OSMO’s role in Osmosis does not guarantee demand, returns, or a stable price.
Which network should you use to hold OSMO?
Osmosis is OSMO’s native chain. The token is also listed as issued on Cosmos and Evmos, so a wallet may show OSMO on more than one network. Those versions should not be treated as automatically interchangeable: a transfer generally needs a supported route, such as an IBC transfer between compatible Cosmos chains. A wrong network or unsupported transfer method can leave funds inaccessible.
Use a wallet that explicitly supports Osmosis and the network you plan to use. Keplr and Leap are common Cosmos wallet options, but check current network support in the wallet before sending. When withdrawing from an exchange, match the withdrawal network to the receiving wallet’s network, and test with a small amount if you are unsure. Confirm the recipient address and any transfer details before signing; crypto transfers are generally difficult or impossible to reverse.
How much OSMO is in circulation?
As of 2026-11-08, OSMO’s circulating supply was about 693 million, its total supply about 899 million, and its stated maximum supply 1 billion. The maximum is a cap, not the number currently in circulation. The difference between circulating and total supply means some tokens were not counted as circulating at that date; future changes in circulating supply can affect dilution and market supply.
Supply figures can change, so check the current figures before relying on them. A capped supply does not set a floor for OSMO’s price or guarantee that the token will retain value. Its market price can move sharply with trading demand, liquidity, broader crypto-market conditions, and changes in how people use Osmosis. Consider whether you could tolerate a substantial loss before holding OSMO or using it in a pool.
How can you store OSMO without taking avoidable risks?
For a wallet you control, keep your recovery phrase offline and private. Never share it with a person or website claiming it needs to verify, unlock, or restore your OSMO. Use a strong device passcode, enable available wallet protections, and check the network and address before every transfer. A hardware wallet can reduce exposure of your signing keys, but confirm that it supports the Osmosis network and the wallet setup you plan to use.
Self-custody means you are responsible for backups and transactions; losing the recovery phrase can mean losing access. Keeping OSMO on an exchange avoids managing a seed phrase, but leaves you exposed to the exchange’s custody and withdrawal risks. Using Osmosis adds smart-contract, network, and transaction risks. Pooling tokens can bring impermanent loss, while cross-chain transfers add route and asset-representation risks. Do not treat OSMO, liquidity positions, or displayed yields as insured or guaranteed.

Osmosis (OSMO) is ranked #701 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $25.8M and a price of $0.0372 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $33.4M, so roughly 77% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 24.5% over 7 days, up 10.2% over 30 days, down 66.5% over the past year. It trades about 100% below its all-time high of $11.25, set on Mar 3, 2022.
About 693.03M OSMO are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1B (69% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $4.04M, or 16% of its market cap: high turnover.
OSMO is the native token of Osmosis; it also has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Evmos, Cosmos. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

OSMO FAQs
What network is OSMO on?
OSMO is native to the Osmosis chain. It is also issued on Cosmos and Evmos, but moving it between networks requires a compatible transfer method; check the network and asset details before sending.
What is OSMO used for?
OSMO can be used for Osmosis network fees and governance, and it may be used in trading and liquidity pools. Pool participation carries market and smart-contract risks and does not guarantee a return.
Does OSMO have a maximum supply?
As of 2026-11-08, the stated maximum supply was 1 billion OSMO. About 693 million were circulating at that date, so the cap is not the same as the circulating supply.
Which wallet can hold OSMO?
You can use a wallet that supports the Osmosis network; Keplr and Leap are common Cosmos wallet options. Confirm current network support and, before transferring, make sure the sending and receiving networks match.
Is OSMO safe to hold?
No. OSMO’s price can fall, and self-custody, exchange custody, liquidity pools, smart contracts, and cross-chain transfers each carry risks. Only hold or use it if you can afford the possibility of losing your funds.
What is the market cap of Osmosis?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Osmosis had a market cap of about $25.8M, ranking #701 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of OSMO?
Osmosis's all-time high is $11.25, reached on Mar 3, 2022. Its all-time low is $0.0263 (Jul 29, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of OSMO?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 693.03M OSMO were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 1B.
Which blockchains is OSMO on?
OSMO is the native token of Osmosis. It has token contracts on Evmos, Cosmos.
