What can you use XEC for?
eCash (XEC) is the native asset of a proof-of-work Layer 1 designed for digital payments. You can use XEC to send value to another person or pay a merchant that accepts it. The network combines proof of work with Avalanche consensus; its developers describe the design as enabling fast transaction finality. That is a protocol aim, not a promise that every payment will be instant in every wallet or situation.
The project also describes staking rewards and subnet support. Holding XEC by itself does not guarantee a reward: check how a particular staking option works, what you must do to qualify, and whether funds are locked or exposed to a third party. Subnets are an extensibility feature, not a reason to assume every application or service supports XEC. If you only want to hold the token, the main practical questions are whether your wallet supports the eCash network and whether you can tolerate price and network risks.
Which chain and wallets hold XEC?
XEC belongs to the eCash blockchain. It is not listed as a native token on another chain in the facts here, so treat an XEC deposit address as chain-specific. Sending XEC to an address or service for a different network can result in lost funds, even if the address looks familiar.
You need a wallet that explicitly supports eCash and XEC. Wallet interfaces and supported features vary: some may only send and receive, while others may offer additional functions. Before moving a meaningful amount, check that the wallet supports the eCash network, back up its recovery phrase securely, and test with a small transfer. Never share your recovery phrase or private keys with a person claiming to help. If you use an exchange or custodian instead of a self-custody wallet, it controls the keys and may set its own deposit, withdrawal, or service restrictions.
How much XEC exists, and what can change its value?
XEC has a maximum supply of 21 trillion. As of November 8, 2026, about 20.1 trillion XEC was listed as circulating and total supply, leaving a gap between the reported supply and the cap. A maximum supply does not mean every token has already entered circulation, and the cap alone does not determine what XEC is worth.
New supply and market conditions can affect holders differently. The project facts do not specify an issuance schedule or explain how much supply remains to be issued, so do not infer the timing of future issuance from the cap. Demand, trading activity, and broader crypto-market conditions can also move the price. As a dated reference rather than a forecast, XEC was listed at about $0.00000578 on November 8, 2026, with a one-year change of roughly -61%. These figures can change quickly.
How do people get and store XEC?
People generally obtain XEC through a service that supports it or by receiving it from another holder. Availability, identity checks, payment methods, and withdrawal rules depend on the service and your location; check those terms before relying on a deposit or withdrawal. This is not a recommendation to buy.
For self-custody, choose a wallet that specifically supports XEC on eCash. Write down the recovery phrase offline and keep it somewhere private and secure; anyone with that phrase may be able to control the funds. Consider keeping only the amount you need in a wallet connected to the internet and storing a longer-term balance in a more secure setup you understand. Confirm the network and address before sending, and make a small test transfer first if you are unsure. A custodian may be easier to use, but you depend on its security, solvency, and access policies.
What does it cost to send or bridge XEC?
A transfer on eCash requires a network fee, but the project does not publish a fixed fee in the facts here. The amount can depend on network conditions and transaction details. Check the fee shown by your wallet before approving a transfer, and distinguish that network fee from any service charge an exchange or payment provider adds.
Moving XEC between chains usually means using a bridge or another conversion service, not simply changing the network setting in a wallet. No supported bridge list or bridge fee schedule is published here. A bridge may charge fees and can introduce separate risks, including smart-contract vulnerabilities, operator or custodian failure, and delays. Wrapped tokens on another chain are not automatically the same as native XEC held on eCash. Confirm the exact asset, destination network, and withdrawal method with the service before sending; an unsupported route can make funds difficult or impossible to recover.
What risks should you check before holding XEC?
XEC carries price, technical, and custody risks. Its price can fall sharply; as of November 8, 2026, it was about 98% below its listed all-time high of $0.00038001 from September 4, 2021. Past prices do not predict future returns. A large token count also does not make a holding valuable by itself.
The hybrid proof-of-work and Avalanche design is part of the project’s stated approach, but no consensus system removes software, network, or governance risks. The roadmap includes ambitions for much higher throughput and sub-three-second finality; treat those as targets, not guaranteed current performance. Check that your wallet or service still supports the network and has clear recovery procedures. Mistaken transfers, compromised keys, fake support, and risky bridge services can lead to permanent losses. Use only funds you can afford to lose and avoid sharing credentials or recovery phrases.
How did eCash start, and what is still a goal?
eCash was created on November 15, 2020, and is developed by Bitcoin ABC. It is presented as a digital-cash Layer 1, combining a proof-of-work layer with Avalanche consensus. The project says this hybrid approach is intended to support fast finality, staking rewards, subnets, and protocol governance.
Its roadmap sets goals that include scaling transaction throughput beyond 5 million transactions per second, improving payment finality to under three seconds, and enabling fork-free upgrades. Those are development goals, not evidence that the targets have already been achieved. If you are deciding whether to use XEC for payments, check the current wallet and merchant support as well as actual transaction behavior. If you are holding it for a longer period, the network’s upgrade path and continued software support are relevant alongside supply and price volatility.

XEC FAQs
What is eCash (XEC) used for?
XEC is designed for digital payments on the eCash network. You can send it to another holder or use it where a merchant or service accepts it; acceptance is not universal.
Which blockchain is XEC on?
XEC’s native network is eCash. Use a wallet or service that explicitly supports eCash and XEC, and verify the network before sending. A similar-looking address on another network does not ensure a transfer will work.
What is the maximum supply of XEC?
The maximum supply is 21 trillion XEC. About 20.1 trillion was listed as circulating and total supply as of November 8, 2026; the project facts do not specify the schedule for any remaining issuance.
How much does an XEC transfer cost?
An eCash transfer requires a network fee, but a fixed fee is not published here. Check the fee shown in your wallet before signing, and account separately for any exchange or service charges.
Can you earn staking rewards by holding XEC?
The project describes staking rewards, but holding XEC alone does not guarantee them. Check the specific method’s eligibility, lock-up terms, fees, and custody risks before participating.
What is the market cap of eCash?
As of Nov 8, 2026, eCash had a market cap of about $116M, ranking #236 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of XEC?
eCash's all-time high is $0.0003800, reached on Sep 4, 2021. Its all-time low is $0.000004790 (Jul 1, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of XEC?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 20.11T XEC were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 21T.
