DeepBook V3 Review: Is Its Sui Order Book for You?

DeepBook V3 is Sui’s on-chain order book for spot trading and BTC prediction markets. Its shared liquidity and self-custody design may suit active Sui traders, but check fees, market availability and regional restrictions before connecting a wallet.

Quick take

DeepBook V3 suits Sui traders who want a shared on-chain spot order book, plus BTC price markets through Predict. Its self-custodial model means funds stay in your wallet until an order fills, but that does not eliminate contract or trading risk. Before connecting, check that your region is supported, which markets are live, and the transaction preview: DeepBook does not publish its fee rates on the page.

Good for

  • Sui users who want to place spot orders through a shared on-chain order book
  • Traders comparing available Sui spot markets and willing to check trade costs before placing orders
  • Developers and trading teams looking for DeepBook API, SDK or indexer access

Not for

  • People in excluded jurisdictions, or US users seeking access to Predict

What can you trade on DeepBook V3?

DeepBook V3 is a Sui-based, fully on-chain central limit order book. You can use its app for spot trading, where orders meet on a shared book rather than being split across separate app-specific pools. DeepBook says this book also serves more than 15 apps on Sui; shared liquidity can mean more depth, but it does not guarantee a better price or a fill for your order.

The app also offers Predict, a BTC price-market product. You can quote a price level, take a position in a range, or trade in either direction across timeframes from one minute to two weeks. This is not simply a menu of fixed yes-or-no questions. BTC is the only asset currently listed for Predict, and available spot pairs may change, so check the app before planning a trade.

Developers and trading teams can use API and SDK access to place, cancel and settle orders, as well as indexer endpoints for market data and historical fills. Reading the book does not require an allowlist, according to DeepBook.

What will a DeepBook trade cost?

DeepBook does not publish a fee schedule on its app page, so you cannot compare its trading costs from a stated rate alone. The page says DEEP is burned from trading fees, but it does not specify the rate, whether fees vary by market or order type, or whether holding DEEP changes what you pay. Do not treat the token burn as a discount for traders.

Because DeepBook runs on Sui, transactions may also involve network gas. The actual cost can depend on the transaction and network conditions; check the wallet’s confirmation screen before signing. For spot orders, compare the quoted price with other available options and consider the spread and possible slippage, especially for larger trades. A shared order book can improve depth, but it cannot guarantee execution at your chosen price.

For Predict, understand how a position is priced and settled before entering. DeepBook describes the product’s timeframes and range positions, but the page does not give a complete fee schedule or explain every settlement detail. Review the market terms in the app before committing funds.

How much trust should you place in DeepBook?

DeepBook describes its trading app as self-custodial: funds stay in your wallet until an order fills, and settlement happens on-chain. That means there is no house account holding deposits and no platform withdrawal queue, but you still rely on the Sui network and the protocol’s smart contracts. Self-custody also puts responsibility for your wallet and signing decisions on you.

DeepBook says its contracts are audited and that a bug bounty is active. Two audits are listed for the project, but check the audit materials for their scope, dates and findings rather than treating an audit count as a guarantee. No licence details are published on the app page, and it does not explain whether identity checks apply in every case. Do not assume that a wallet connection means you have cleared any legal or eligibility requirements.

The app names countries and territories it excludes: Afghanistan, Belarus, China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Russia and Syria. It says spot access is available in the United States, but Predict is not. Check the current terms and the law where you live before using either product.

How do you start using DeepBook safely?

You need a Sui-compatible wallet to use an on-chain Sui trading app, and you will need to approve transactions from that wallet. DeepBook’s page identifies Sui as its network and provides API, SDK and indexer access for developers, but it does not list specific wallet integrations, mobile-app support or transaction-speed guarantees. Confirm that your wallet supports the Sui assets and transactions involved before you connect.

A sensible first use is to inspect the live market list and read the transaction details without rushing to trade. Check the order price, size, fees shown at confirmation and any slippage or settlement terms. Never share your recovery phrase or approve a transaction you do not understand. If you are using Predict, check that the market is available in your location and that you understand its price range and timeframe.

DeepBook does not publish a complete fee schedule or a detailed account of any KYC process on its app page. If identity checks or eligibility rules matter to you, read the current app terms before depositing or placing an order.

Where does DeepBook V3 fall short?

DeepBook’s main appeal is a shared order book on Sui, with self-custodial trading and access for developers. Its limitations matter too: market availability can change, Predict currently supports BTC only, and the app page does not publish fee rates. That makes it harder to estimate costs before opening the app or compare the product with alternatives.

You should also distinguish protocol access from the app’s regional rules. DeepBook lists excluded jurisdictions and says US users cannot access Predict. Restrictions can vary by product and can change, so check the current terms rather than assuming access to spot markets means access to Predict.

Finally, on-chain settlement and audits do not make trading safe or profitable. Order-book depth can shift, trades can lose value, and smart contracts carry technical risk. DeepBook is a better fit if you already understand Sui wallets and order-book trading than if you want a guided, low-risk way to buy crypto. Avoid committing money until you have checked the specific market, costs and risks.

DeepBook V3 FAQs
