## What does staking TCY pay you?
THORChain Yield (TCY) is a token whose holders can stake it to receive a pro rata share of THORChain revenue. The project says 10% of all revenue is allocated to TCY holders in perpetuity, with payouts made in RUNE, THORChain’s main token. Holding TCY alone is not enough to access those distributions: you have to stake it.
Your share depends on how much TCY is staked relative to the eligible total, as well as the revenue available for distribution. The allocation does not guarantee a fixed return. If network activity or revenue falls, payouts may also fall; the project does not publish a guaranteed yield.
Before staking, check the current process, any unstaking conditions and the destination of RUNE payouts. Confirm you are using the correct TCY token and understand whether staking involves a smart contract or another form of custody. Do not treat the word “yield” in the token’s name as a promise of profit.
## Which wallet and network do you need for TCY?
TCY is issued on THORChain, and its revenue distributions are paid in RUNE. That means you need a wallet and staking route that specifically support TCY on THORChain; a wallet that only supports another network’s version of a similarly named token may not work. Check the network and token identifier in your wallet before sending funds.
No particular wallet brand or universal TCY staking method is established here, so confirm compatibility through THORChain’s current official interfaces before transferring tokens. If you use a third-party wallet or staking service, check who controls the keys, what permissions you are approving and how you can unstake. A token appearing in a wallet does not by itself mean you can stake it or receive RUNE distributions there.
For a test transfer, send a small amount first when practical. Keep enough of the network’s required assets available for transaction fees, and never share your recovery phrase with a site, support agent or staking tool.
## Why was TCY created, and how many tokens exist?
TCY was created after THORFi, which combined THORChain’s Lending and Savers features, defaulted in January 2025. The token was used to convert $210 million of debt into tokens: creditors received 1 TCY for each dollar of defaulted debt. This gave creditors a token linked to a share of future THORChain revenue rather than leaving them with no recovery from that debt.
The stated total and maximum supply is 210 million TCY. As of November 8, 2026, about 185.4 million were circulating. The remaining difference between circulating and maximum supply should not be assumed to be available for trading or distribution; check current token records before relying on a supply figure.
This history matters when assessing TCY: it was created as part of a debt-resolution plan, not as a conventional claim on company equity. Its revenue allocation is tied to THORChain’s activity, and the token’s market price can move independently of any RUNE payout.
## What could go wrong when you hold or stake TCY?
Treat TCY as a volatile crypto asset, not as a deposit or guaranteed-income product. Its value depends partly on confidence in THORChain and demand for TCY, while staking distributions depend on revenue actually generated by the network. A drop in revenue can reduce payouts, and a fall in TCY’s market price can outweigh any RUNE received. The project’s “in perpetuity” revenue allocation does not remove those risks or guarantee that the protocol will operate as expected.
You also face custody and technical risks. Sending TCY to the wrong network or address can make it difficult or impossible to recover. Staking may expose you to smart-contract, interface or validator-related issues, depending on the method used. A compromised wallet or mistaken approval can put both TCY and other assets at risk.
Use a wallet you control if you want direct custody, secure its recovery phrase offline, and verify transaction details before signing. If you cannot confirm the token, network, staking terms and withdrawal path, pause rather than transferring funds.
By the numbers
THORChain Yield in numbers
THORChain Yield (TCY) is ranked #635 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $30.3M and a price of $0.1633 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $34.3M, so roughly 88% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was up 0.5% over 7 days, up 2.0% over 30 days, up 29.2% over the past year. It trades about 52% below its all-time high of $0.3421, set on Jun 10, 2025.
About 185.36M TCY are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 210M (88% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $68.2K, or 0.2% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

No. TCY holders have to stake their tokens to access a pro rata share of THORChain revenue. The project says distributions are paid in RUNE.
How much yield does TCY pay?
The project allocates 10% of THORChain revenue to TCY holders, but this is not a fixed yield. Your payout depends on revenue and the amount of TCY eligible for distributions.
What wallet can hold THORChain Yield?
TCY is issued on THORChain, so check that your wallet supports TCY on that network and that it can access the staking process you intend to use. Confirm the token and network before sending funds; no specific wallet is established as universally compatible.
