Owning Fren Pet (FP): Uses, Storage and Risks

Fren Pet (FP) is the token for a blockchain mobile game that uses progressive web app technology. The game is described as involving pet activities, with players earning ETH according to their scores. Game activity burns FP, while rewards are described as coming from a 5% tax on token trades. That makes FP relevant to people who want to participate in the game, but it does not guarantee that playing will earn you more than it costs.

Before you commit tokens or time, check whether the game is active and how its reward rules currently work. Frenpet’s dashboard reports a dead pet and an offline keeper, so treat current gameplay and rewards as uncertain until you can verify them directly. The project does not publish enough here to establish how often rewards are paid or what a typical player receives. Avoid valuing FP solely on the assumption that the game will remain active or that its rewards will cover token costs.

FP is issued on Base. It is not listed as the native token of a blockchain; Base is the network on which the token is issued. To hold or transfer it, use a wallet that supports Base and can display custom tokens. You will also need ETH on Base for network transaction fees, which are separate from any cost or tax attached to trading FP.

Before sending funds, check that the wallet is connected to Base and verify the FP token’s contract address through an official Fren Pet channel. A token name or ticker alone is not enough to distinguish the intended asset from an imitation. If a wallet does not show FP automatically, adding a token manually may be possible, but only use a contract address you have independently confirmed. Sending FP to an incompatible network or the wrong address can make it difficult or impossible to recover.

The small reported volume compared with market capitalization can mean trades have a noticeable price impact, especially if you are trying to sell quickly. For self-custody, keep FP in a wallet that supports Base and protect the wallet’s recovery phrase offline. Never share that phrase or a private key with someone claiming to help you claim rewards, fix a pet, or connect your wallet. A legitimate game interaction should not require you to reveal them. Consider a hardware wallet if you hold an amount you would not be comfortable losing, and test any new wallet address with a small transfer first.

Check the network and recipient address before confirming every transfer. Also review the permissions requested when connecting to the game or approving a token transaction; revoke approvals you no longer need using a trusted wallet or blockchain tool. Wallet backups protect access, not the token’s market value or the game’s continued operation. If you lose the recovery phrase and have no other recovery method, you may lose access permanently.

FP combines game participation with exposure to a tradable token. Its described 5% trade tax affects the economics of trading, but the project does not publish enough detail here to determine exactly how the tax is applied to every transaction or what a player’s net reward will be. Confirm the current transaction costs before trading or playing. Base network fees are an additional cost, and low trading volume can make it harder to exit at a quoted price.
