What does holding FLIP actually do?
FLIP is Chainflip’s utility token. Its main stated role is securing the protocol: validators stake FLIP and receive FLIP rewards. Chainflip also says swap activity triggers automatic FLIP purchases and burns through its liquidity-pool system, linking token burns to swaps rather than simply to holding the token.
Chainflip is designed for swaps between assets on different blockchains without using wrapped tokens. That does not mean FLIP itself is required for every swap, or that owning FLIP gives you a share of protocol revenue. The project describes protocol fees as returning value indirectly to validators. If you hold FLIP without running or delegating to a validator, don’t assume you will earn rewards automatically. Check the current staking terms and risks before committing tokens.
Which chain and wallet should you use for FLIP?
FLIP is issued on Ethereum; the token facts do not list it as native to another chain. Chainflip’s cross-chain swap service supports swaps between networks, but that does not make every version of FLIP on every network interchangeable. Before depositing or withdrawing, check which network the service, exchange or wallet supports and make sure the receiving address matches it.
For self-custody, use an Ethereum-compatible wallet that supports adding or displaying ERC-20 tokens. Verify the token contract address through Chainflip’s official channels before importing it; a matching name or ticker alone does not prove a token is genuine. A hardware wallet can reduce exposure of your signing keys, but it cannot protect you from approving a malicious transaction or sending FLIP to an unsupported network. Test a small transfer first if you are unsure.
How many FLIP tokens exist, and is there a supply cap?
As of 2026-11-08, about 86.7 million FLIP were circulating, and reported total supply was also about 86.7 million. No maximum supply is listed. These figures can change: Chainflip describes swap-related purchases and burns, while any future token issuance or other supply changes could also affect totals.
Treat supply figures as a dated snapshot, not a permanent limit. If you are checking an exchange or wallet balance, confirm that you are looking at the Ethereum-issued FLIP and not another token using the same ticker. The lack of a listed maximum does not mean supply will necessarily rise without limit; it means you should not assume a hard cap from the figures above. Review current token documentation if supply policy matters to your decision.
Can you earn rewards by staking FLIP?
FLIP staking is described as a validator function: validators stake the token to help secure Chainflip and receive rewards in FLIP. That is different from simply keeping tokens in a wallet. The project also says protocol fees return value indirectly to validators, but that does not guarantee a particular reward or make returns fixed.
Before staking or taking part in validator operations, check the current requirements, lock-up and unstaking rules, reward calculation, and penalties. These can affect whether you can access your tokens and what you might lose if a validator fails to follow network rules. Do not rely on a quoted annual yield alone; it can change and may not reflect token-price movements, fees, or operational risks. If you only want to hold FLIP, avoid staking through an unfamiliar service just to seek a return.
What can go wrong when you hold or use FLIP?
FLIP carries the usual risks of a crypto asset, including sharp price changes, low liquidity and the possibility of losing some or all of your funds. Its utility also depends on Chainflip’s continued operation and use. Because swap activity is connected to token burns, lower activity could mean fewer burns; burns do not ensure that the token’s price will rise.
To store FLIP more safely, keep your recovery phrase offline, never share it, and check transaction details before signing. Use a wallet and network that support the Ethereum-issued token, and confirm deposit addresses carefully. Cross-chain swaps add another decision point: compare the quoted amount, destination network and any displayed fees before sending assets. Check Chainflip’s current audit and security information yourself; an audit cannot eliminate smart-contract, validator, wallet or user-error risks.
By the numbers
Chainflip in numbers
Chainflip (FLIP) is ranked #632 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $30.7M and a price of $0.3543 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($30.7M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was up 15.3% over 7 days, up 16.6% over 30 days, down 26.8% over the past year. It trades about 96% below its all-time high of $9.48, set on Mar 7, 2024.
About 86.75M FLIP are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
24-hour trading volume was about $99.0K, or 0.3% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
FLIP has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
FLIP is linked to Chainflip AMM, which we cover in our DEXes rankings. See our Chainflip AMM page for how the protocol works and how we score it.

FLIP FAQs
What network is FLIP on?
FLIP is issued on Ethereum. Use an Ethereum-compatible wallet and check the supported network and token contract before transferring it.
Does holding FLIP earn rewards?
Validators stake FLIP and receive rewards, but simply holding tokens does not automatically make you a validator or earn rewards. Check the current participation requirements and risks before staking.
What is the total supply of FLIP?
About 86.7 million FLIP were circulating as of 2026-11-08, with the same amount reported as total supply. No maximum supply is listed, and supply can change over time.
Does Chainflip burn FLIP?
Chainflip describes automatic FLIP purchases and burns through its liquidity-pool system when swaps take place. This mechanism does not guarantee a price increase.
How should I store FLIP safely?
Use a wallet that supports the Ethereum-issued token, keep your recovery phrase offline and verify the contract address before adding FLIP. Check the network and transaction details before sending or approving anything.
What is the market cap of Chainflip?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Chainflip had a market cap of about $30.7M, ranking #632 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of FLIP?
Chainflip's all-time high is $9.48, reached on Mar 7, 2024. Its all-time low is $0.1909 (Apr 3, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of FLIP?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 86.75M FLIP were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.
Which blockchains is FLIP on?
It has token contracts on Ethereum.
