What does holding Cap USD (CUSD) get you?
Cap USD (CUSD) is a dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Cap, a stablecoin protocol. Holding it is meant to give you a digital dollar for transfers or use in supported crypto applications, rather than exposure to a token designed to rise in price. Cap says cUSD is backed by reserve assets including USDC, USDT, pyUSD, BUIDL and BENJI, and is redeemable 1:1 for available reserve assets.
That description does not make CUSD identical to cash in a bank account. Its market price can move away from $1, and using it depends on the protocol, the assets backing it, the blockchain and the services you choose. Cap also offers stcUSD, a separate savings product made by staking cUSD. stcUSD is intended to generate yield; simply holding CUSD does not mean you hold stcUSD or earn its yield.
Check the token identity carefully: CUSD is also used as a ticker by other crypto projects, including Celo Dollar. Confirm that the asset is Cap’s CUSD on the intended network before receiving or sending it.
Which networks and wallets support Cap CUSD?
Cap’s cUSD is issued on Ethereum and is also listed on MegaETH. It is not the native token of either chain. A token appearing on more than one network does not mean balances move automatically between them: you need to use the network on which your wallet or receiving service supports CUSD.
You can generally store an EVM-compatible token in a wallet that supports the relevant network, but you must select the correct chain and verify the token contract. Do not rely on the ticker alone, especially because other tokens use CUSD. A wallet may require you to add a token manually before it displays your balance. If you send CUSD to an exchange or another person, check that the destination supports Cap’s CUSD on that exact network.
The project facts do not identify specific recommended wallets or provide contract addresses here. Use Cap’s official channels to confirm the contract and network before interacting. A mistaken network or token address can leave funds inaccessible, and a wallet’s ability to display a token does not guarantee that you can redeem or trade it.
How much CUSD is in circulation, and can it lose its peg?
As of 2026-11-08, CUSD’s circulating and total supply were both about 66.0 million tokens, with a reported market capitalization of about $66.0 million. No maximum supply is specified. Supply can change as tokens are issued, redeemed or otherwise removed from circulation; a stablecoin’s supply is not a promise that each token will always trade at exactly one dollar.
On that date, the reported price was about $1.00, at $0.999794. The reported all-time high was $1.17 on 2025-10-10, and the all-time low was $0.515274 on 2026-06-10. Those historical prices show that a dollar target does not prevent substantial deviations. The reported 24-hour trading volume was unavailable, so the figures do not establish how easily a large holding could be traded at a given moment.
Cap says the reserve includes stablecoins and tokenized money-market assets, and that cUSD can be redeemed 1:1 for available reserve assets. Reserve quality, redemption access and market liquidity can all affect confidence in the peg. Treat the dollar target as the design goal, not as a guaranteed market price.
How can you get and store CUSD?
People typically receive stablecoins through a crypto exchange, a supported on-chain service, or a transfer from another holder. The route you use determines what checks, charges and network requirements apply. Before accepting CUSD, confirm that the service supports Cap’s token—not another asset with the same ticker—and that deposits and withdrawals are enabled on the network you intend to use.
Cap describes cUSD as redeemable 1:1 for any available reserve asset. That is a protocol description, not enough on its own to establish the steps, timing, minimum amounts or costs for your particular redemption. Cap does not publish those details in the facts used here, so check current protocol terms before relying on redemption as your exit route. Exchange access and redemption access are different: a trading venue can set its own rules and may not offer direct redemption.
For storage, keep your wallet recovery phrase private and offline, and never share it with a person claiming they need it to release or verify CUSD. For a custodian, review its withdrawal terms and account safeguards. Neither self-custody nor a custodial account removes the risks of the token itself.
What can a CUSD transfer cost?
Sending CUSD on Ethereum requires a network fee paid in the chain’s native gas token, not usually in CUSD. The fee changes with network demand and transaction complexity. Sending on MegaETH also requires that network’s gas token, and the amount can vary. Cap does not publish a fixed transfer fee in the facts here, so check the wallet’s transaction estimate before confirming.
A cross-chain transfer can involve a bridge or another service. That may add service charges, waiting time and smart-contract risk on top of network fees. Do not assume that a token represented on another chain is automatically the same as Cap’s issued token or that it can be redeemed on the same terms. Verify the bridge, destination network and token contract before sending.
If a transfer is going to an exchange, check its deposit instructions first; the exchange may not support CUSD on every network. A low fee is not a reason to skip those checks. Crypto transfers are generally difficult or impossible to reverse once confirmed, so test the destination details carefully before sending a significant amount.
What could go wrong when you hold CUSD?
CUSD carries several risks even though it is designed to track the dollar. Its peg can break or weaken if market confidence falls, reserve assets lose value or access to redemption is disrupted. The reserve includes assets issued by other entities, so their credit, operational and liquidity risks matter too. Cap’s stated 1:1 redemption arrangement does not remove those dependencies or guarantee that every holder can redeem immediately under all conditions.
There are also blockchain and contract risks: a vulnerability, network disruption, compromised wallet or mistaken transfer can cause losses. If you use a bridge, that adds another system that can fail. Cap describes stcUSD yield as generated by a changing set of operators and says yield-generation risk is covered by code. Treat that as a protocol claim, not as proof that yield is risk-free; using stcUSD adds a different set of mechanics and risks than holding cUSD.
Before holding a meaningful amount, look for current reserve disclosures, redemption terms, contract and security information, and any explanation of how code-based downside protection works. Do not assume that a stablecoin is insured like a bank deposit.
What is known about Cap CUSD’s history?
Cap describes itself as a stablecoin protocol with two products: cUSD, its dollar-denominated token, and stcUSD, a savings product created by staking cUSD. The stated purpose of cUSD is to function as a digital dollar backed by reserve assets such as USDC, USDT, pyUSD, BUIDL and BENJI. The protocol says cUSD is redeemable 1:1 for available reserve assets. Its yield product is separate: Cap says operators generate yield under a protocol hurdle rate and that code covers the risk of that yield generation.
A launch date, named founding team, maximum supply and detailed history are not specified in the project facts. The available price record includes an all-time high of $1.17 on 2025-10-10 and an all-time low of $0.515274 on 2026-06-10. Those figures do not explain why the price moved or establish current redemption conditions.
If you are assessing CUSD today, focus on current reserve composition, redemption access and contract security rather than relying on the stablecoin label or past price behavior. Confirm the token and network before you transact.

Cap USD (CUSD) is ranked #355 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $66.0M and a price of $0.9998 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($66.0M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was up 0.0% over 7 days, down 0.0% over 30 days, up 0.1% over the past year. It trades about 15% below its all-time high of $1.17, set on Oct 10, 2025.
About 66.05M CUSD are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
CUSD has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, MegaETH. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
