## What does BTR let you do?
BTR is Bitlayer’s ecosystem token, described as serving governance and ecosystem incentives. Bitlayer is building Bitcoin-focused finance infrastructure around BitVM and smart contracts, but owning BTR does not by itself give you Bitcoin or a claim on project revenue. The project has not published enough detail to assume what rights a holder has beyond its stated governance and incentive roles.
Before you treat BTR as a voting token, check whether a specific proposal or voting process is active, how voting power is counted, and whether tokens must be locked. Do not assume that holding BTR automatically earns rewards: the terms, eligibility and availability of any incentive can depend on the program. BTR is not described as a stablecoin, so its market value can move substantially.
If you are considering holding it, separate two questions: whether you want exposure to Bitlayer’s ecosystem, and whether BTR’s stated uses matter to you. Neither the token’s role nor activity in the ecosystem guarantees demand or a particular price.
## Which chains can you hold BTR on?
BTR is listed as native to Bitlayer and is also issued on BNB Chain and Ethereum. That means the same ticker can refer to tokens on different networks; sending BTR to an address on the wrong network can make it difficult or impossible to recover. Confirm the network and token contract address before every deposit or withdrawal, and compare them with the destination service’s instructions.
A compatible wallet must support the network you intend to use, not just display the BTR ticker. For self-custody, check that the wallet can receive tokens on that specific chain and that you can access the correct account. For a centralized exchange, check which BTR networks it accepts and whether deposits or withdrawals are currently enabled. Those options can change.
Moving BTR between networks may involve a bridge or a service that handles transfers for you. A bridged representation is not automatically interchangeable with the token on another chain. Check what asset you will receive, any costs shown before confirming, and the bridge’s security assumptions. Do not send Bitcoin directly to a BTR address.
## How much BTR exists, and could supply grow?
BTR has a maximum and total supply of 1 billion tokens. About 261.6 million were circulating as of November 8, 2026, so the circulating amount was substantially below the maximum. The difference between those figures matters: tokens not yet circulating may enter circulation later, depending on the project’s distribution and release arrangements.
A circulating-supply figure is a snapshot, not a promise that supply will stay at that level. Before relying on a tokenomics plan, look for the current breakdown of allocations, vesting or unlock schedules, and any rules for changing supply. Bitlayer’s supply figures alone do not show when additional BTR may become available or who may receive it.
If you compare BTR with another token, use the same date and distinguish circulating supply from total or maximum supply. A market-cap figure based on circulating tokens and a fully diluted valuation based on the maximum supply measure different things; neither tells you what the token is worth in the future.
## How can you store BTR without avoidable risks?
For self-custody, use a wallet that supports the exact BTR network you hold, keep your recovery phrase offline, and never share it with someone claiming to help. Test a small transfer before moving a larger balance, especially when switching between Bitlayer, BNB Chain and Ethereum. Check the receiving network and token address rather than relying on the ticker or a search result alone.
The main risks are token-price volatility, changes in circulating supply, and uncertainty about how governance or incentives work in practice. There are also network and smart-contract risks: a faulty wallet connection, token contract, bridge or third-party service can put funds at risk. A successful transfer on one network does not prove that another network’s version is safe or supported.
If you use a custodial platform, you rely on that provider to safeguard and release your tokens. If you use a bridge or a DeFi application, you take on additional technical and counterparty risks. Keep only the amount you need in connected wallets, review transaction details before signing, and avoid approving transactions you do not understand.

Bitlayer (BTR) is ranked #1,172 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $11.0M and a price of $0.0420 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $42.0M, so roughly 26% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 6.9% over 7 days, down 16.2% over 30 days, down 31.9% over the past year. It trades about 82% below its all-time high of $0.2372, set on Feb 14, 2026.
About 261.6M BTR are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1B (26% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $1.34M, or 12% of its market cap: high turnover.
BTR is the native token of Bitlayer; it also has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including BNB Chain, Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

BTR FAQs
What is BTR used for?
BTR is described as a Bitlayer ecosystem token used for governance and incentives. Those uses do not guarantee voting rights in every circumstance or automatic rewards for holders.
Which networks support BTR?
BTR is native to Bitlayer and is also issued on BNB Chain and Ethereum. Confirm the exact network and token address with the receiving wallet or service before transferring.
What is the maximum supply of BTR?
Its maximum and total supply is 1 billion BTR. About 261.6 million were circulating as of November 8, 2026; that figure can change over time.
How do I store BTR safely?
Use a wallet that supports the network holding your tokens, and protect its recovery phrase offline. Check the token address and network before receiving or sending BTR.
Can I bridge BTR between chains?
Yes. BTR can be transferred across different networks through bridging or other services, but the process adds risk and may result in a different token representation. Check the destination asset and network before confirming a transfer.
What is the market cap of Bitlayer?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Bitlayer had a market cap of about $11.0M, ranking #1,172 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of BTR?
Bitlayer's all-time high is $0.2372, reached on Feb 14, 2026. Its all-time low is $0.0158 (Jul 18, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
