What does holding BIO let you do?

BIO is the token for Bio Protocol, a project focused on decentralized science (DeSci). The protocol aims to connect scientific communities with funding, liquidity and tokenized biotechnology projects. Holding BIO may give you access to the protocol’s network of scientific communities and intellectual-property initiatives, but that should not be confused with owning a share of a company, research result or patent.

BIO is also described as a way to support and participate in the network. Project materials describe token holders locking or staking BIO for activities such as vetting BioDAOs, and the token has been associated with governance and supporting BioDAO liquidity. The exact rights and activities can depend on the protocol’s current rules. Before using BIO for a vote, stake or liquidity position, check what the action requires and what risks it creates. Simply holding the token does not guarantee access to a particular project, a return, or a claim on scientific intellectual property.

Which chains and wallets support BIO?

BIO is issued on Ethereum, Solana, Base and BNB Chain. It is not listed as the native gas token of any of these networks, so you need the correct network’s native token to pay transaction fees when moving or using BIO. The same ticker can appear on multiple networks; check the network and the official token contract or mint before sending funds. A wrong-chain deposit may be difficult or impossible to recover.

For storage, use a wallet that supports the specific network and BIO token representation you hold. Some wallets require you to add the token manually. An exchange may also custody BIO for you if it supports deposits and withdrawals on the relevant chain, but you then rely on that service to control access. Keep your recovery phrase private and offline if you use self-custody, and never share it with someone claiming to help with a transfer. Check network support on both ends before sending.

How much BIO exists, and what can move its value?

BIO has a maximum and total supply of 3.32 billion tokens. About 2.15 billion were circulating as of 2026-11-08, leaving a difference between circulating and total supply that could affect the amount available in the market over time. The project’s token schedule and the timing of any future releases matter when you assess dilution; check current project disclosures rather than assuming the remaining supply will enter circulation at a particular pace.

As a dated snapshot, BIO’s market capitalization was about $42.3 million on 2026-11-08. Its price was about $0.0197, roughly 77% lower than a year earlier. Those figures can change quickly and do not predict what happens next. Demand may be affected by use of the protocol, interest in DeSci, token distribution, liquidity and broader crypto-market conditions. Supply figures alone do not tell you whether BIO is fairly priced or whether you can sell at a quoted price.

How do people get and store BIO?

You may encounter BIO through a crypto exchange or an onchain market, but availability and supported networks vary. If you already hold it, first identify which chain the token is on and confirm that the receiving service accepts BIO on that same chain. A token with the right ticker on another network may not be interchangeable for deposit purposes.

For self-custody, use a wallet compatible with the relevant chain and protect its recovery phrase. For exchange custody, review the service’s withdrawal options and account-security requirements; an exchange controls the private keys while your balance remains there. Before using BIO in a protocol feature, check whether it requires a separate approval, staking or lock-up, and whether you can withdraw promptly. Avoid sending a test amount only if the network and fees make that practical, and never rely on a message or unsolicited support contact to verify an address.

What does it cost to move BIO?

A BIO transfer costs the network’s transaction fee, paid in that chain’s gas token—not usually in BIO. The amount depends on the network, congestion and the kind of transaction. A simple transfer and a contract interaction, such as approving or staking tokens, may have different costs. Bio Protocol’s own fee rules for particular features should be checked before you use them; the network fee is separate from any protocol charge.

Moving BIO between chains may involve a bridge or a service that handles cross-chain transfers. That can add fees, waiting time and smart-contract or custody risk. Do not assume that BIO on Ethereum can be sent directly to a Solana address, or that a bridge will make every token representation equivalent. Check the source and destination networks, the receiving platform’s deposit rules, and the specific token representation before confirming. A low displayed fee does not remove the risk of a failed or misdirected transfer.

What should you check before using BIO?

BIO carries the usual crypto risks: its price can fall sharply, liquidity can be limited, and transfers are generally difficult to reverse. A multichain token adds the chance of choosing an unsupported network or interacting with a counterfeit token using the BIO ticker. Verify the token contract or mint through trusted project channels and check a receiving platform’s deposit network before sending.

Protocol use may add risks beyond simply holding tokens. Staking or locking can restrict access to your BIO; providing liquidity can expose you to losses as token prices move; and smart-contract, bridge or custody failures can cause loss of funds. Bio Protocol’s audit, custody arrangements and fee details should be checked directly before you commit funds. Governance or curation participation does not guarantee a project’s scientific success, commercial value or legal rights in its intellectual property. Do not treat a token balance as a claim on research or biotech products unless the relevant terms clearly establish one.

What is Bio Protocol’s background?

Bio Protocol describes its goal as building an onchain scientific economy that can help communities fund and develop biotechnology projects. The team behind BIO also helped create Molecule, a platform for tokenizing early-stage biomedicine, and VitaDAO, a community focused on longevity science. BIO is intended to connect this DeSci activity with community participation, funding and liquidity.

A precise BIO launch date is not established here, so it is better not to infer one from the project’s broader history. The token has been associated with Ethereum, Solana, Base and BNB Chain. Its price history shows why a long-term project narrative should not be treated as protection from market risk: BIO reached an all-time high of about $0.889 on 2025-01-03 and an all-time low of about $0.0158 on 2026-03-29. Past highs and lows are historical markers, not forecasts.
